Tedisco Now Leading Vote Count

Even without the absentee ballots being counted, Jim Tedisco appears the likely winner of the razer-thin race on Tuesday for the 20th Congressional District in Upstate New York. This blog endorsed the Assemblyman, even though he is not in our Congressional district. Keep in mind that I endorsed a Democrat, Paul Tonko, for Congress in November.

It's certainly a good thing that Tedisco is winning. Up by 12 now, he will probably gain votes from the absentee ballots. Tedisco is a tried public servant and has done much for the people of Upstate. Unfortunately, he also made himself lose the election by launching tireless attacks against his opponent, who had minimal name recognition. If he hadn't done that, Tedisco may have picked up 60% on Tuesday.

Still, it's a good thing to see him ahead in this referendum on both Tedisco's leadership and President Obama's early presidency. The Republicans have their first victory (very small as it is) since 2004.
