Race politics involved in Atlanta Mayoral election.

For the first time in over two decades, the City of Atlanta might have a white Mayor in the City, who cares? Apparently a few black professors are against that thought, because they do not want a white Mayor at all.

As WSBTV reports : "A memo circulating on the Internet and amongst voters in Atlanta is drawing a dividing line in the race for Atlanta’s next mayor.

The letter, asking voters to support Lisa Borders because she is “the best black candidate in the race,” warns that “for the first time in 25 years, African Americans could lose the Mayoral seat in Atlanta, Georgia, especially if there is a run-off.”

It also states “time is of the essence … in order to defeat a Norwood mayoral candidacy.” Mary Norwood, a white candidate, is said to be the front-runner. “We have to get out now and work in a manner to defeat her without a runoff, and the key is a significant Black turnout in the general election,” the letter stated." The memo concludes by saying "At the end of the day, when the morning comes, a black agenda would better enable us to have our interests respected by and our influence realized in any administration. "

WOW. I guess the election of Barack Obama has not ended racism among the Democrats in America, or at the least, Democrats in Atlanta.

I personally hate mayoral elections, because they never go by the political parties, and the candidates have to create these idiotic party names for their city or village elections. However, I would think the best man for the job would be selected, no matter what race or gender, I guess I am just an old fashioned Conservative, who just wants to elect someone based on their beliefs & principles.
