Crist May Announce Independent Bid Today

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Florida Governor Charlie Crist may launch an independent bid today. This comes after his campaign manager, former US Senator Connie Mack, left his campaign.

Dr. Foglesong said, "A person I know in the Charlie Crist campaign has told me Charlie Crist would veto the merit pay bill, and he did. Further, he said he would announce tomorrow, that's Friday, that he would run as an independent."
Fox 35's Tracy Jacim asked, "Where is this supposed to happen?" Dr. Foglesong said, "South Florida." Jacim asks, "Miami?" Foglesong said, "Yes." Jacim asks, "How reliable is this source?" Foglesong replied, "I trust the source."

We also see a recent poll which places Crist in the lead if he runs in a three way race.

You're looking for a real barn burner if Crist gets into the race. I would think that a lot of Democrats will gravitate towards him as it becomes apparent that Meek can't win. Then it would be a Crist-Rubio race again. I can't tell you who would wind up on top.
