Toby Gerhart not drafted in First Round. Race involved?

When Yahoo! reported that Toby Gerhart, a white running back from Stanford University was being prejudiced against, for being a white running back, I just couldn't believe it: Of all sports, I figured football was the least likely to be distorted by race. Well, the First Round of the 2010 National Football League Draft has concluded, and Gerhart was not drafted; was this due to racism or lack of talent?

Buffalo, San Diego and Detroit all drafted running backs. Now I'm not doubting the talent of those running backs nor am I accusing the General Managers of those teams of reverse racism, but we should evaluate the statistics of the three running backs selected, and of Mr.Gerhart, who some are claiming has been prejudiced against.

C.J. Spiller (#9 - Buffalo) : 1,212 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 36 receptions, 4 receiving touchdowns, and he's graduating from Clemson University.

Ryan Matthews (#12 - San Diego) : 1,808 rushing yards, 19 rushing touchdowns, 11 receptions, 0 receiving touchdowns, and he's forgoing his Senior year at Fresno State University.

Jahvid Best (#30 - Detroit) : 867 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 22 receptions, 4 receiving touchdowns, and he's forgoing his Senior year at the University of California.

Toby Gerhart : 1,871 rushing yards, 28 rushing touchdowns, 11 receptions, 0 receiving touchdowns, and he's graduating from Stanford University.

It appears that Gerhart is the better of the four above mentioned Running Backs, and that their main difference is skin color, but then again, NFL Scouts are aware of information that most average Joe's could only dream about. However; Gerhart and Best are from the same Conference, and Gerhart without a doubt was the better of the two Running Backs, even when Best was of good health, but Best was the one who was drafted.

Is there racism going on? I have no idea to be honest, but I'm open to all opinions and suggestions from the readers of Jumping in Pools, who should stay tuned to Jumping in Pools for all of your NFL Draft needs.
