Strasburg solid in second MLB Start.

Steven Strasburg's inaugural start was quite impressive: 7.0 innings, 14 strikeouts, only 4 hits and 2 earned runs allowed, and the rookie achieved his first Major League Baseball win. With 2 innings left in Strasburg's second start against the Indians this afternoon - the young pitcher was once again solid, and is once again heading towards a Major League victory.

He tossed 95 pitches through 5.1 innings: allowing 2 hits and 1 run, striking out 8 batters, walked 5 batters, and is currently on track to receive his second Major League Baseball win, pending the Nationals don't blow their current 9-1 lead in the bottom of the Eighth inning; the odds of which are slim.

The youngster allowed more walks and pitched in fewer innings, but we must remember he was facing the Cleveland Indians, and not the Pittsburgh Pirates. Plus this was only his second MLB start in his short career, and we should not be expecting a masterpiece each time out. Not even Cy Young was that good.

In conclusion: Strasburg is an impressive Starting Pitcher, his Fastball is amazing, his Changeup is phenomenal, his Control is unheard of at such a young age, his professional pitching record will be 2 wins and 0 losses in a couple of minutes, and the Washington Nationals better treat this young man with the respect he deserves.

Strasburg Mania vs. World Cup Mania.

In this afternoon's baseball game between the Washington Nationals and the Cleveland Indians, Steven Strasburg, a much anticipated rookie starting pitcher, will be pitching in only his second career professional baseball game against the Cleveland Indians and also in his first nationally broadcasted performance as well.

Leaving us with one very important question this morning: Which game will had been watched by more American sports fans when the television ratings are released: Strasburg Mania on TBS at 1pm this afternoon, or World Cup Mania (Team USA vs. England), which took place yesterday afternoon?

If we were discussing the Olympic Games (regardless of location), the World Baseball Classic, or even the yearly NFL game hosted in London, England, and then I compared it's television rating to a single Major League Baseball game featuring the most talked about rookie pitcher in years, I would be called a loon.

But I'm talking about Soccer, which is about as popular in the United States as BP is or as disgusting French cheese. Now compare Soccer to Baseball; America's national past-time, as American as Ma and Apple Pie: and the popularity of Soccer falls even further - to US Congress levels on a good day!

I'll be watching Steven Strasburg in his start against the Cleveland Indians this afternoon, and if you're anything like me - World Cup Soccer, Team USA or otherwise, was not on your TV dial and I can almost guarantee that when the ratings are released Strasburg in Cleveland will slaughter Team USA in South Africa.

Strasburg impresses in Rookie Debut.

Steven Strasburg was the number one pick in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft by the Washington Nationals organization. I've been reading about all the hype, the sold out minor league baseball games where he was pitching, and all the myths surrounding the unproven legend; but I remained unconvinced until tonight.

Strasburg pitched in his first Major League Baseball game earlier this evening; and I guarantee you that this young pitcher is nothing but performance, no hype whatsoever. How can You be sure? Some might ask when reading this article, well I'll let the stats from Strasburg's first start tell everyone everything they need to know.

He tossed 94 pitches through 7.0 innings; allowing 4 hits and 2 runs; striking out 14 batters, and leading the Washington Nationals to a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates - resulting in his first every Major League Baseball win. Call me a fan, or call me crazy; but this pitcher can pitch!

The Washington Nationals must be excited; they spent 15 million dollars on an unproven college level pitcher (unheard of in Major League Baseball) - and that pitcher actually performed in his Rookie Debut in front of 40,315 (largest crowd in Washington since Opening Day) excited fans. I cannot believe this is happening in Major League Baseball:
