Interview With Professor Yuriy Malikov, Part One

We here at JiP are very proud to continue our interview series with Professor Yuriy Malikov. Dr. Malikov is ethnically Russian, was born and raised in Kazakhstan, and now teaches numerous History courses at the State University of New York College of Oneonta, SUNY Oneonta for short.

Highly esteemed in his field, Prof. Malikov speaks Russian and English, and has a basic understanding of Kazakh, German, and Hungarian. Here is Part One of a two part series:

If I am not mistaken, you were born and raised in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan . When you were young, was it even conceivable that in your lifetime that the Cold War would end, you would move to the United States, and that you'd a highly regarded college professor?

To be exact, I was born in the Soviet Union. Life in Kazakhstan was not very much different from the life in the other fourteen Union republics at that time. I do not think anybody in the 1980s could believe that the Soviet Union will collapse and that we would be able to choose a country of residence. I always dreamt of visiting other countries, but I would never believe it if somebody told me that I would be living in the USA .

What are the main differences between living in the United States and living in Kazakhstan?

This is a difficult question. I think there are more similarities than differences. At least, I do not experience any cultural shock when I go to visit my parents and friends in Kazakhstan . Thanks to globalization, people in Kazakhstan go to similar movie theaters as they do in America , where they watch the same Hollywood movies, eat in fast food restaurants, go to supermarkets, where they buy Coca Cola and Heineken, and work in their offices using the same computers. Everyday life looks pretty much the same as in the US , or in other Western countries.

As for the major difference, I think it is the attitude to laws. Most people in Kazakhstan do not respect them. As my friend in the Peace Corps said, traffic rules in Kazakhstan are recommendations, not laws. Almost in all spheres of life bribes and connections mean much more than laws or regulations. On the other hand, there are things, which are better in Kazakhstan than in the US - its foreign policy, for example, and its coverage in mass media. When I turn on the television in America, I get the impression that America is surrounded by enemies, and everybody either openly or secretly hates the Unites States. When I watch news in Kazakhstan, I see that Americans are our “strategic partners,” the Chinese are our “traditional friends,” and Russians are “brothers.” It would be great if Americans could watch news from Kazakhstan; it would force their own media to be less paranoid.

How difficult was it for you to learn English? How many languages do you speak?

English is not a difficult language to learn. It has rules, you learn them, and you speak. The Russian language has exceptions, not rules. Every noun makes its plural form in its own way, while every verb makes its past and perfect tense in the most unpredictable way. I am not good at languages. I speak Russian and English, and have some basic knowledge of Kazakh, German, and Hungarian.

Why did you want to become a professor?

History helps people to understand their society, to see where we are coming from and where we are going to. History allows people to challenge numerous stereotypes about different societies, which most take for granted. I like to challenge stereotypes and I also like to help others to challenge them. Being a professor of History is exactly the position that allows me to do this.

What are your feelings on the character Borat, portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen?

I am quite neutral to Borat. Cohen used “ Kazakhstan ” to demonstrate to Americans their own country. He even tried to make Kazakhstan look as far from the reality as he could (being a Kazakhstani, I can easily see it). The belief of some people here that, after watching the movie, they have a better understanding of Kazakhstan upsets me. But again, it says more about some people here than about Kazakhstan.

Stay Tuned for Part Two.

Congressman Grayson is once again an idiot.

I have followed the pathetic Congressman Alan Grayson over the past several months, from the fact he is a radical progressive apart of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, from the idiotic folks who elected him in the first place in Florida's eight congressional district, and that he proposed that all Americans have to take a vacation......Well he has done it again, as Congressman Grayson, one that must be defeated in 2010, is claiming that the Republican health care plan is for sick people to die quicker.

Which confuses me, because Republicans have been touting Canadians who have escaped the awful government run system there, to come here to get emergency treatment, because in Canada, they would be dead now. Or the fact Conservatives have been bringing up the horror stories from Canada & Great Britain, on how patients have died there because of the big government problems, and the little truth that American health care has the highest survival rates in the world.

Republicans want freedom, capitalism, choice, responsibility, respect for life to be what drives our health care system. As showcased by our opposition to death panels, abortion in the legislation, the government control that would follow, and featuring factual statistics from Nation's that have tried government run health care.

Congressman Grayson, you are a idiot. You have just secured your defeat from the United States Congress, which I believed should have been sealed from the moment you cast your vote for the awful stimulus legislation back in February. You are a disgrace, and a downright liar. I only wish, Congressman Wilson yelled you as he did the Liar in Chief.

Watertown Daily Times reports Jumping in Pools article.

I would like to think that Jumping in Pools is becoming a more popular blog, I would have to agree, especially since we are being linked by more and more sources every single day. Take for example, the Watertown Daily Times which is located in the north country of New York state, located deep in the heart of the 23rd congressional district, has linked JIP in regards to a Doug Hoffman I wrote a few days ago.

Mr. Thompson has not shied away from going off the beaten path when endorsing, a blogger argues.

Later in the article, it amazingly discusses something that I wrote about earlier this morning.

Who is Doug Hoffman's next big Conservative endorsement? How about Sarah Palin? (Oh, to be there when Jeff Graham heard that news!)

Will Sarah PAC endorse Doug Hoffman? - http://jumpinginpools.blogspot.com/2009/09/will-sarah-pac-endorse-doug-hoffman.html

Glad to know that the local media appreciates our Conservative opinions.

Will Sarah PAC endorse Doug Hoffman?

Sarah Palin, the former Conservative Republican Governor from the state of Alaska, and John McCain's Vice-President selection vowed to support all Conservatives who run for office, whether they be a Republican or a Democrat. Will Mrs.Palin stand by her bold statement, and endorse a third party Conservative candidate, whom is really the only Republican candidate in this special congressional election in the 23rd congressional district in New York state?

Meet Doug Hoffman, a proud Conservative Republican from the north country of Upstate New York, a region which has been represented by Republicans since the 1800's, a region that is far more Conservative then the 20th congressional district, which held their own special election back in March, the Democrat won by just 700 votes over Conservative Republican Jim Tedisco. Hoffman has been involved in Republican politics for decades, however, after the party chairs decided to go with "Dede" Scozzafava, a liberal Republican who has even been supported by the ACORN backed "Working Families party" several times, Hoffman knew a real Conservative Republican option was needed for the voters of the 23rd congressional district.

Doug Hoffman is the only pro-life candidate in this election.

Doug Hoffman is the only 100% pro-business candidate in this election.

Doug Hoffman is the only candidate who has no connections to ACORN.

Doug Hoffman is the only candidate who is a real Conservative, and better yet, a real Republican.

How does this involve Governor Sarah Palin you might ask? Well she created a PAC, designed to support Conservatives running across the United States of America, with a very crucial election set to take place in just 34 days, a real Conservative needing all of the help he can get, will Governor Palin stand by her comments and support any Conservative who runs, or will she not?

Fred Thompson has endorsed Doug Hoffman. The Club for Growth PAC has endorsed Doug Hoffman. The American Conservative Union has endorsed Doug Hoffman. All very respected Conservatives or Conservative leaning political based organizations.

Will Sarah Palin do likewise? That is the question for the ages, and only time will tell.

Andy, You're A Star Lyrics

The Killer's Andy You're a Star lyrics:

On the field I remember you were incredible
Hey shut up, hey shut up, yeah
On the field I remember you were incredible
Hey shut up, hey shut up, yeah
On the match with the boys, you think you're all alone
With the pain that you drain from love
In a car with a girl, promise me she's not your world
Cause Andy, you're a star

Leave your number on the locker and I'll give you a call
Hey shut up, hey shut up, yeah
Leave your legacy in gold on the plaques that line the hall
Hey shut up, hey shut up, yeah

On the streets, such a sweet face jumping in town
In the staff when the verdict is in
In a car with a girl, promise me she's not your world
Cause Andy, you're a star
In nobody's eyes but mine
Andy, you're a star
In nobody's eyes but mine
Andy, you're a star
In nobody's eyes
In nobody's eyes but mine

Roman Polanski: Two Thumbs Down

This article is written by guest author Patricia Kay, who is currently a concerned citizen and wanted to make her voice heard.

I have been dumbfounded and dismayed at the news that Roman Polanski, who pleaded guilty of drugging, sodomizing, and raping a 13 year old girl back in the 1970s has such loyal supporters from Hollywood. I am equally surprised that the victim of this crime is asking that Polanski be exonerated.

Are these “stars,” including Woody Allen who I am not a fan of, in their right mind?

Is society or Hollywood Society in their right mind? Are they really asking that a person who has admitted and plead guilty to these charges be released just because time has elapsed or because Roman Polanski is a famous director? Can a person who drugs, rapes, and sodomizes a child be cured? I do not believe that that is possible.

I believe that society has to step up and do what is morally right. What is morally right is that we have to impose stricter punishments to those who purposefully harm our children. We have to protect our children from those who want to harm them. Those that are supporting Roman Polanski are slapping all past, current, and future victims in the face by such thoughtless acts of support. What is the message that they are trying to get out there; are they saying that child rape is okay? Are they saying that fame and money will overcome what is right? Does Hollywood care about our children? When so many children look up to famous people, when they use them as role models, is this the right message for them to listening too? Hollywood should not represent America's voice. Those in Hollywood who went so public in supporting Roman Polanski should not have, nor do they deserve one cent of our money. We the public, we in society made them who they are. We should also let them know when we are displeased with them as well. There is no room for negotiation when it comes to protecting our children from predators. Our children should feel safe. Our children should be safe.

I will talk to my children about this and explain that these inhuman acts are those of insignificant human beings.

I will personally boycott the films of any actor and/or director who are in support of Roman Polanski. I will keep my ears and eyes open to this. If you truly love your children you will take a stand also. Hit these actors and directors where it hurts: in their pockets. Do not allow this to pass as something that doesn't concern you. Do not allow yourself to be immune to the horrific acts of child rape. These are our children that we are talking about. This might be one case, but there are other children who have suffered in the same manner. If society doesn't take a stand on this issue there will be many more children who will suffer the same fate as this girl did. I want to make something clear here. Girls are not the only victims of child rape. Boys also suffer this fate.

I understand that the victim has survived this act, and is now willing to forgive Roman Polanski for what he has done to her. I have also heard that the victim also stated that she didn't want him prosecuted. I do not believe she thought this through or that there are other children, beside herself, that have been raped and that are still hurting, emotionally, physically, and spiritually from their ordeals.

I also would like to point out that the world is watching to see what America and its legal system will do in this matter. God help us, if this man should be free. God help us if this man is not extradited to the U.S. to be judged. My feeling is that if nothing is done to show the world that society does not condone such inhumane acts a Pandora's box of child molesters, sodomizers, and rapists will think that children are fair game. Not only in America but the world. With child pornography being so readily available in this day and age our children do not stand a chance.

So it's up to you America. What do you want? Do you want to turn a blind eye because this doesn't concern you or are you going to do the right thing and stand up to those who want to hurt our children?

I choose to take a stand.

Rangel the corrupt.

Over the past several months, I have heard numerous calls for Congressman Rangel to resign, I 100% agree with those calls, however, in recent days I have heard some ponder why Rangel is still in the United States Congress, that is why I am writing this article.

Congressman Charles Rangel, first elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1970, representing New York's fifteenth congressional district like a lord with ultimate power. Over the past several months, it has been revealed that Rangel, who is the head of the all-power House Committee on Ways and Means (deals with tax laws), has not reported hundreds of thousands to possibly millions of dollars in income to the Internal Revenue Service, not to mention Rangel is a race baiter to the highest degree, and told a citizen journalist to mind his own "G****mn business" when asked about cheating the IRS.

Why is Congressman Rangel after cheating the IRS hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars, especially when he is the head of the committee which deals with tax laws, still in the United States Congress, then again why he is still in Congress after near four decades of constant election and numerous race baiting instances.

The fifteenth congressional district is D+41, elected Obama with 93% of the vote, located deep in the heart of New York City, the Congress is lead by liberal Democrats who have no sense of ethics, and did I mention the results from the 2008 congressional election? Well, I saved the worst for last.

Charles Rangel (D) - 177,060 (89.17%)
Edward Daniels (R) - 15,668 (7.89%)
Craig Schley (People for Change) - 3,706 (1.87%)
Martin Koppel (Socialist workers) - 2,141 (1.08%)

With the full knowledge that Rangel lied about his income to the IRS, that he has major ethical problems, among other controversies, the voters of the fifteenth congressional district re-elected Rangel with nearly 90% of the vote, and added another near 3% of the vote for even more radical candidates over the Republican candidate.

Rangel is corrupt. The fifteenth congressional district is corrupt for re-electing Rangel. The Congress is corrupt for not ordering a full investigation & impeachment of Rangel.

Roman Polanski Can Burn in Hell

I'll be as blunt as possible: Roman Polanski raped a child and should be arrested and thrown into prison for the rest of his life. Regardless of the time that has passed, what he did cannot be excused, especially when this pervert doesn't have the decency to admit what he did was wrong.

And what's going on in Hollywood? Actors and actresses are coming out of the woodwork to defend this piece of garbage. Have they no shame? How about any connection with the average person?

A thirteen year old has been raped and all the sycophants in Hollywood can do is scream "leave him alone?" How about burn in hell?

The Decline of European Socialism

The New York Times today chronicled the declining fortunes of Europe's center-left parties. This is partially due to Conservatives in Europe adapting to present-day realities:

"Europe's center-right parties have embraced many ideas of the center-left: generous welfare benefits, nationalized health care, sharp restrictions on carbon emissions, the ceding of some sovereignty to the European Union. But they have won votes by promising to deliver more efficiently than the left, while working to lower taxes, improve financial regulation, and grapple with aging population."

Compare this to the mainstream of the Republican Party, where global warming is a myth and any attempts at health care reform is "socialism". Maybe if they followed the lead of European Conservatives, they might win more elections.

Focus, Merits, Performance.

President Barack Obama is wondering why American school children are not in schools 7 days a week, 10 hours a day, 365 days a year like in China and other Nations. The reason is because we are not China, and we are not other Nations.

American school children are in school over 180 days a year, 7 hours a day, usually 5 days a week, American school children whom are older usually hold jobs, and younger children need to be with their parents. We are America, we do not imprison children to be at the whims of the government & teachers unions, time with family is precious, and there are solutions which would probably decrease the time in school.

If American schools returned to the basics, of teaching Math, History & Geography, Science, English, American Civics, and time in the Gym, I believe American intellect would improve. As do you know why homeschooled children perform better then their public school counterparts, probably because they focus on the four main subjects and they are not indoctrinated by labor union teachers.

Instead, it appears that American classrooms are focusing on topics that are not as important, serve no real purpose, and would be best served as taught in the home. I would also argue that the process of securing graduation is not the best, especially in the state of New York, where instead of passing based on merits, you need dozens of credits to pass high school, which I believe puts to much priority in subjects which normally would be insignificant, but students deal with it to get the extra credits.

So, what are the suggestions of a Conservative Republican?

Simple.

Step one - Focus on the four main subjects, all other subjects come afterwards.

Step two - Graduation should be based on merits of the four main subjects, not credits from unnecessary courses.

Step three - Teachers should be based on merits as well, not union contracts.

Do additional courses have a place, Yes. Should those additional courses be apart of final graduation, No.

Focus must be put on the main four subjects, other courses should be open, however, they come after the main four subjects, and teachers should not be paid based on union contracts or demands, but rather on their merits as teachers, and the scores their students put forth. More time in school will not solve anything, it will only cause more problems, indoctrination, and families not being as close, more focus on merits, the four main subjects, and teachers based on performance, would improve the system.

These are just my opinions, consider this an open topic on the subject of education, what say you?

Election 2009 is Crucial

Rock the Conservative vote 2009!

In just five short weeks, voters in Virginia, New Jersey, California's tenth congressional district, Mayoral races across the Nation, and other local elections will be casting their votes for the best candidates on the ballot. As Republicans and as Conservatives this election cycle is imperative to the future of the Nation, party, and the political movement itself.

With declining approval numbers for Obama, a stalled agenda in the United States Congress, anger over higher taxes and more government regulation, Americans are quickly turning away from Democrat representatives, a strong firestorm in Conservatism among the Republican party, and several other factors, are leading to the key 2009 & 2010 elections which are crucial to the future of the Republican party, and frankly, America herself.

The Republican candidates for Governor in New Jersey and Virginia are polling quite strong against their Democrat counterparts, in two states that have not had a elected Republican as head of the state in several years, especially in New Jersey where the Republican is maintaining a near ten point lead over the incumbent liberal Democrat Governor, Jon Corzine, something that is near impossible in the state of New Jersey this close to election day. In Virginia, Republican Attorney General Bob McDonnell is leading his Democrat counterpart by a few points, however, considering McDonnell defeated his opponent back in 2005 during the Attorney General election, the odds are in his favor. Not to mention, the all important National Rifle Association has also become involved in the Virginia Gubernatorial election, as they have

endorsed Bob McDonnell for the seat, a very crucial endorsement for any candidate running in a state like Virginia, where the second amendment is key.

The New Jersey & Virginia gubernatorial elections reveal the feelings from around the Nation, as Republicans are starting to become America's party oncemore, Conservatism is golden compared to the big government liberalism which American citizens have grown weary of rather quickly, and Americans are suffering from buyers remorse, as Americans genuinely do not want, what has been dealt to them.

The 2009 elections are crucial, Republicans & Conservatives need to work together, and they need to vote on this usually off-election year. We have important races in New Jersey, Virginia, the 10th congressional district in California, the Binghamton Mayoral election, countless other local elections spread out across the Nation are also crucial. This is not a year to sit back and relax, this is the year to show our strength & resolve.

GOP 2009!

Author's note : Jumping in Pools will be your premiere source for electoral news as we enter the final stretch of the 2009 election campaign season. Stay tuned for our November third election day coverage of races all across the Nation.

Silence speaks louder than words.

During the Bush era, with two wars raging in the Middle East, President Bush would be in contact with his Generals once a week, sometimes daily, no-one can argue that fact, Bush was a hands on man when it came to wars on terrorism. It has recently been revealed that Obama has only talked with his General once in seventy days, according to history, Bush would have spoken to his General at least ten times in that same time period.

Silence speaks louder then words.

While some make the point that the debate over the surge took three months, I can guarantee President Bush actually payed attention to what his General's we're suggesting for the future of Iraq, not paying his attention to everything but the wars on terrorism, like Obama, who seems more interested in expanding the school year and getting Chicago the 2016 Olympic bid.

What has happened to America's foreign policy? Our General's on the ground need more troops now, we know that a surge is a successful military strategy, and we do not have time to let the pantywaist liberal jackasses to get in the way of winning in the wars against pure evil.

I personally believe Obama has two options, either demand that General McChyrstal's request be met, or resign as President, as he would be un-fit to be the commander in chief of the United States Military.

Interview: Truth Serum

Tom Schlegel is an award-winning journalist and screenwriter who started truthseruminterview.com as a response to the liberal bias in the media. The site will be transitioning to a news aggregator format in addition to providing hilarious interviews with newsworthy (mostly liberal) figures. This is the twenty-second in our interview series.
1. President Obama's health care plan has been attacked by critics as giving the government too much control over 1/6 of the US economy. Do you believe that this proposed plan would lead to a health care shortage if passed?

If you look at socialized medicine in places like Canada, Sweden and England this has been the track record. In Sweden people started going to the vet because the wait was so long. But at least they don't have heart worms!
2. The President today stated that Iran was cheating in regards to its nuclear program. Do you foresee a resolution that will both avoid war and Iran obtaining nuclear weapons?

Only if Israel takes care of business. No way Obama will get his hands dirty on this issue.
3. Do you foresee major income tax increases in the next two years?

Yes, it's inevitable. Somebody has to pay for "hope" and "change".
4. What has been President Obama's best achievement so far in office?

He bought a dog.
5. Worst?

Creating an environment where every foreign punk--no matter how insignificant--thinks he can make the United States his bitch.
6. Baseball or football?

Football.
7. Italy or Germany?

Germany (see the surname)
8. Ford or Chevy?

Ford.

On Top Lyrics

The Killer's On Top lyrics:

Remember Rio and get down
It's another DJ, it's another town
She's been trying to tell me to hold tight
But I've been waiting this whole night
But I've been down across the road or two
But now I've found the velvet sun
That shines on me and you

In the back, uh huh, I can't crack
We're on top
It's just a shimmy and a shack, uh huh
I can't fake, we're on top
We're on top

The day is breaking, we're still here
Your body's shaking, and it's clear
You really need it, so let go
And let me beat it, but you know

That I've been down across the road or two
But now I've found the velvet sun
That shines on me and you

In the back, uh huh, I can't crack
We're on top
It's just a shimmy and a shack, uh huh
I can't fake, we're on top
We're on top
We bring the bump to the grind, uh huh
I don't mind, we're on top
It's just a shimmy and a shack, uh huh
I can't fake, we're on top
We're on top

And we don't mean to satisfy tonight
So get your eyes off my bride tonight
Cause I don't need to satisfy tonight

It's like a cigarette in the mouth
Or a handshake in the doorway
I look at you and smile because I'm fine

And we don't mean to satisfy tonight
So get your eyes off my bride tonight
Cause I don't need to satisfy tonight

It's like a cigarette in the mouth
Or a handshake in the doorway
I look at you and smile because I'm fine

Interview: Nicholas Thompson on Cold War History

Jumping in Pools is proud to present our twenty-first interview in our series. Nicholas Thompson is a senior editor at Wired Magazine and the author of “The Hawk and the Dove: Paul Nitze, George Kennan, and the History of the Cold War.” He is a fellow at the New America Foundation and an official panelist on CNN International’s “Connect the World” with Becky Anderson. His book is featured at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Borders, IndieBound and MacMillan.

1. President Truman's decision to drop atomic warheads on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 remains a controversial point today. Do you believe that his decision was based more on ending the war or sending a message to the USSR?

I think it was based more on his desire to end the war quickly. To me, the most fascinating question surrounding this issue is why Paul Nitze wrote, as he did in his Strategic Bombing Survey, that the atomic bomb played close to no role in ending the war---even though he had interviewed numerous Japanese officials who said the opposite.

2. Popular history gives Ronald Reagan the credit for causing the USSR's final collapse in 1991. Do you believe that he gets too much or too little credit?

He definitely deserves some credit. But Gorbachev deserves a lot more.

3. Which US President do you believe best wielded the policy of containment?

Truman. Not only did this country have success under him, it came when the USSR was run by Stalin.

4. Do you foresee Vladimir Putin continuing to rule Russia, in and out of the spotlight?

For a while, yes. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of momentum running against him right now.

5. Does Russia desire to bring its former USSR republics back into a firm sphere of influence and how could the US/NATO stop this?

Of course they have some interest in doing that. The US/NATO could stop the trend in all sorts of ways, from providing arms to making threatening gestures. But almost all would backfire.

6. What is an interesting piece of Cold War history that barely anyone knows?

I love the detail I learned about while researching my book that Nitze was presented with a paper, early in the Korean War, explaining that US pilots were directly engaging with Soviet pilots dressed as North Koreans. And Nitze’s decision was to burn the report.

Black Republican to challenge Jesse Jackson Jr.

NOTE: Check out our interview with Isaac Hayes.

The second congressional district in Illinois is a Republicans worse dream in terms of how bad a election could get. Take for example the district has not had a Republican representative since the 1950's, Barack Obama won the district with 90% of the vote, improving on the margins of victory by Al Gore & John Kerry, and the fact Jesse Jackson Jr. is the Democrat representing the district, who is deeply involved in the founding of the Apollo Alliance a radical left-wing environmentalist group which has connections to radicals Van Jones & Jim Jones.

Not to mention, the 2008 congressional election was drown right ugly for the Republican candidate, if you could call it a election in the first place.

2008 congressional election in Illinois second congressional district :
Jesse Jackson Jr. (Democrat) - 251,052 = 89.4% of the vote.
Anthony Williams (Republican) - 29,721 = 10.6% of the vote.

Well, a brave Republican is going to brave the almost impossible odds, and run against Jackson during the 2010 congressional elections, that Republican would be the Rev. Isaac Hayes, a strong black Republican who is already facing pure hell from left-wing kooks, who are calling him a wide variety of slurs, because he is a Republican who dare also be black.

I guess, Michael Williams in Texas, Deborah Honeycutt from Georgia who ran for Congress in 2008, Michael Steele the GOP Chairman, Lynn Swann the GOP candidate in Pennsylvania for Governor, J.C. Watts the former Congressman from Oklahoma, Conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and the numerous other Republicans have all been brainwashed by the white man, to believe in freedom, life, personal responsibility, etc.

Racism does exist my friends, that is why we need to stand strong with Republican candidates such as the Rev. Isaac Hayes, he is a breath of fresh air in a corrupt city with just as corrupt members of Congress in D.C., please visit Hayes website, and God sakes if you live in the 2nd congressional district in Illinois, vote for Hayes come next November.

Doug Hoffman adds some real starpower.

Doug Hoffman, the Conservative candidate for Congress in New York's 23rd congressional district has picked up some real starpower from a well respected voice on the right, that would be former Senator & Republican candidate for the GOP nomination during last years Presidential election, Fred Thompson.

While some might take this as a surprise, it does not surprise me one bit, as Fred Thompson is a grand old Conservative member of the grand old party, Thompson has never been afraid to go off the beaten path, stand up against both parties, stand for Conservatism, and be his own man. The 23rd congressional district can be compared to the above statement, it is a battle between a liberal democrat vs. a liberal republican vs. a conservative republican running as a conservative, something off of the beaten path.

The Hill quoted a Fred Thompson email to his political PAC, explaining the reason for the endorsement of Hoffman "Doug is a conservative, who understands that our freedom is our greatest strength, that life is a precious gift, and that getting back to our founding principles will ensure our nation's security and prosperity for us and for our children and grandchildren". Could not have said it any better myself.

With the call for a special election coming at any moment from Governor Paterson, election day just 36 days away, real starpower behind Doug Hoffman, the endorsement of the Club for Growth PAC, not to mention polling data which shows the election in a three war tie, I have a feeling Doug Hoffman has a damn good shot at winning this congressional election.

Besides all of the great points, he is endorsed by Fred Thompson, can you argue with that?

There Goes the Youth Vote: Obama Wants More, Longer School Days

As a person working in education and a former school student I have to say that this is one of the dumbest requests I've heard in at least a week. President Obama looks like he will bow to the radical left-wing of the Education lobby and may increase not only the school day, but also the length of the school year.

In all, we might be looking at 200, 10-hour days instead of our 180, 7-hour days.

I'm sure that the school kids will be thrilled.

And of course the Education Secretary believes that those damn rural students are dragging us down:

"Our school calendar is based upon the agrarian economy and not too many of our kids are working the fields today," Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in a recent interview with The Associated Press.
How about instead of overworking teachers and students and creating a large disservice for school districts and parents we actually work to reform the current system. In current schools, grades are slowly being marginalized, school curriculums not based as much on achievements, and teachers are often overworked.

How about making it easier to become a teacher to include people with Master's Degrees without certification? How about breaking the major Unions into smaller organization, just like the government breaks up business monopolies.

How about cutting back on left-wing indoctrination instead of adding in more time. If you simply reduce the time in which teachers will teach students that the Japanese internment camps were equivalent to the Holocaust, you could get a lot of time.

Obama, what are you doing?

McCain vs. Obama, who would you elect now?

Just one year ago today, America was in the middle of one of the most interesting Presidential elections in modern history, as two United States Senators faced off for the ultimate prize of becoming the next leader of the free world, one was a semi-right wing Senator from the state of Arizona, the other was a far-left radical Senator from the state of Illinois.

Yes, we are talking about Senator John McCain (R) vs. then Senator Barack Obama (D), a straight forward election for the average American when it comes down to the important issues, as John McCain is pro-second amendment, John McCain is pro-life, John McCain is for the wars on terrorism, John McCain would nominated Conservative justices to the Supreme Court, John McCain would have cut taxes, John McCain would not be attempting to takeover America's health care system, and John McCain would not be destroying our treasured friendship with the Nation of Israel.

If election day 2008, was held again on this day, September 28th 2009, who would the American people vote for? Would millions of older Republicans stay home during another Presidential election between the two? Would tens of thousands of usually Republican voters cast their vote for Bob Barr instead of John McCain? Would hundreds of thousands of Americans vote for Obama just because he was black, or because they did not believe he was "moderate" as they believed several months ago?

Answers we will never know, however, questions that have merit. If we could all do the 2008 Presidential election differently, would you prefer a President McCain or a President Obama? I think we all know the answer to that.

Change Your Mind Lyrics

The Killer's Change Your Mind lyrics:

Racey days
Help me through the hopeless haze
But my oh my
Tragic eyes
I can't even recognise myself behind
So if the answer is no
Can I change your mind

Out again, a siren screams at half past ten
And you won't let go
While I ignore, that we both felt like this
Before it starts to show
So if I had a chance
Would you let me know

Why aren't you shaking
Step back in time
Graciously taking
Oh your too kind

And if the answer is no
Can I change your mind

We're all the same
And love is blind
The sun is gone
Before it shines

And I said if the answer is no
Can I change your mind

Least favorite people on the Right, as according to right-wing bloggers.

Over the past several years, Right Wing News, has asked dozens of right-of-center bloggers to list their least favorite people on the right side of the political spectrum, or perceived to be on the right side of the political spectrum. I have gone through their records, and have found the most hated on the right over the past several years, why Right Wing News did not ask Jumping in Pools I have no idea, however, we usually do not criticize our fellow right wingers to much in the first place.

Without further delay :

Least favorite person on the right in 2005 - Columnist, Pat Buchanan.
Least favorite person on the right in 2006 - Columnist, Pat Buchanan.
Least favorite person on the right in 2007 - Congressman, Ron Paul.
Least favorite person on the right in 2008 - Senator, John McCain.
Least favorite person on the right in 2009 - Senator, Olympia Snowe.

I personally agree with the least favorite person on the right awards in 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2009. I cannot agree with Senator McCain in 2008, he was our nominee, a damn fine Conservative on a good number of issues, and the only thing standing between America and Obama. He deserved more support & respect.
