Seth MacFarlane: Gee, What a Douche

Take a look at this unofficial interwebs biography of Seth MacFarlane and see why he might be considered a jerk:
Personal experience

On the morning of the September 11, 2001 attacks, MacFarlane was scheduled to return to Los Angeles on American Airlines Flight 11 after being a keynote speaker at his alma mater in Rhode Island. In 2005, on episodes of "Loveline" and "Too Late with Adam Carolla", MacFarlane stated that he tried to make the flight, but arrived about ten minutes after final boarding ended. At 8:14 a.m., fifteen minutes after the departure of American Airlines Flight 11, the plane was hijacked, later being flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. He was told he would need to wait for the next flight and then sat down next to someone as they were watching the attacks and he said to the man beside him, 'I was supposed to be on that flight.'

Examples in "Family Guy"

...the first gag to blatantly reference 9/11 was in the episode 'Airport '07'; Quagmire crash lands a plane and then Mayor West is informed while reading "My Pet Goat" to school children, an obvious reference to when U.S. President George W. Bush was informed of the 9/11 attacks. Two episodes later, in 'No Meals on Wheels', 9/11 was mentioned again when Peter's restaurant couldn't air its 'Sixth Sense'-themed commercial because the director was involved with 9/11. Then in the season 5 episode 'It Takes a Village Idiot, and I Married One', Lois responds to all the questions she receives on her mayoral campaign by saying, '9/11'.

In the "Family Guy" episode 'Boys Do Cry', Brian and Stewie (both played by MacFarlane) leave a rural gas station while chuckling and mimicking a Middle-Eastern clerk; Stewie then remarks 'If it weren't for 9/11, those guys would be adorable.'

In an even more recent episode, "Meet The Quagmires", Brian travels back in time to the 1980s. A man challenges Brian to a fight, and 9/11 is mentioned once more when Brian tells the man to meet him for a fight in the World Trade Center at the exact time the attacks occurred (this scene is only shown on the Cartoon Network/Adult Swim airings, not on FOX).

As well as in season five, episode "No Chris Left Behind", 9/11 is brought up when Chris Griffin is kidnapped by his grandfather to join the "Skull and Bones Society" in order to make Chris more popular in his new school. After offering Chris to become a member, his grandfather remarks, 'You'll get your own stock portfolio, a percentage of the 9/11 victims fund and the best medical care on the planet..?

Seth McFarlane is A Total Coward

Family Guy used to be the funniest show on television. It was also canceled twice by Fox and since its return several years ago has not ceased sucking. Family Guy's irreverent humor was replaced with a futile and unfunny attempt to be 'intellectual' while being totally careless in writing jokes. The result: Family Guy can't buy jokes today.

That's why the primary audience for the show lies in the 13-17 year old boys who can't wait for a vain attempt at sexual innuendo while watching Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. Middle schools are abuzz with pimply-faced kids with braces uttering: "Stewie said 'boobs.'"

Meanwhile, everyone in the post-virgin world takes one look at the abomination airing on Fox and states, man that show was once the bomb. Now all that's left of the Family Guy empire are the same jokes repeated through the same format.

And of course, even if the show's not funny, it could get points for being innovative or 'on the edge.' Sure, to a lot of 14 year-olds, jokes about a condom is rocking, but most of the attempts at pushing the envelope fall flat.

Take Seth McFarlane's attempts to 'be unique, like everyone else.' In one episode, he tries to shock the world by having Quahog legalize gay marriage. Wow-- supporting a movement that is rapidly growing in support! McFarlane is so edgy! Making fun of George W. Bush? No one, I mean no one, has done that before! I can't wait to buy the unedited version of the DVDs he's hacking!

Take the latest attempt to be 'controversial.' Family Guy was supposed to air an episode about abortion, but Fox is giving hell about it. What's so controversial? Abortion is not a new issue-- maybe in 1972 it would have been, but today? The majority of Americans support abortion rights-- wow-- he's really kicking in the door on like, oh yeah, no one.

But of course it's stated that Family Guy is breaking taboos because it takes on Republican issues. If Family guy really wanted to be edgy, why not take on an issue that could get it banned or cause violence? Seriously.

South Park has mocked Christianity and Islam, Jesus and Mohammed, society, racism, and, yes, even Family Guy. It was edited on-air and broke barriers ten years ago. And it's funny. But Family Guy is talking about abortion? Heh. South Park almost causes a jihad againt Comedy Central for planning on picturing Mohammed during the Danish comics controversy. That's satire.

Seth, take it from me. You're not funny anymore. It's not 1999. Get over yourself.

10 Reasons Why Family Guy Has Sucked for Four Years

10. Instead of trying to be funny, it just tries to be outrageous. Funny, huh?
9. Liberal slant. Do I have to say more?
8. Why is Peter an unbelievable moron now, instead of being kind of stupid with no common sense?
7. Half of comedy is the delivery of the joke. When there is no joke and you can't deliver it, well, that doesn't end well.
6. Instead of being smart-stupid with jokes, the show is now just stupid-stupid.
5. Hey, remember when Family Guy had original plots? Yeah, neither do I.
4. Long, unfunny jokes that seem to go on forever.
3. I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that Family Guy has different writers after their hiatus.
2. Yes, we all know that Seth McFarlane loves himself, but do we to see it in every episode?
1. Isn't a comedy show supposed to be funny?
