Matt Garza Throws No Hitter

In the second year of the pitcher, what else would you expect?  Matt Garza of the Tampa Bay Rays has thrown the organization's first no-hitter, beating the Tigers 5-0.
Awesome.

Tancredo has lost it.

Hat Tip - Politico.

Tom Tancredo was a respectable Congressman who represented the average man from a rural district out in the west, now he's a dangerous nut job who will cost the Republican Party a Governor's Mansion in a crucial swingstate (Colorado), all because neither of the confirmed GOP candidates meet his "standards" of increasingly Libertarian viewpoints.

Why? Well he announced his intention to run for the Governorship in the state of Colorado, on the Constitution Party's line, against the eventual Republican nominee; and considering his sky high levels of approval, he'll steal enough votes from whomever the Republican nominee is, and deliver Colorado 4 more years of Democratic control.

No-one should be surprised, just look at his recent Washington Times Article headline: The Case for impeachment. During which, he argued that Barack Obama is more of a threat to our Nation than our Islamic enemies, who murdered 3,000 citizens on September 11th, and he also voiced a faulty argument that violating your oath of office, is cause for impeachment.

Just to make sure everyone understands what I'm saying:

We're Screwed in Colorado.

Tancredo has never lost an election, carried his former district with over 149,000 votes in 2006 and is the most popular (former) Republican in the entire state, and in an election that will be close to begin with, even half of his 2006 election total will lead to a Denver Democrat, John Hickenlooper winning in November.

Thanks's Tom! We appreciate being stabbed in the back!

Tancredo Running for CO Governor as Libertarian

Former Congressman and hardline illegal immigration opponent Tom Tancredo has announced that he is running for Governor of his home state of Colorado. Not only this, but he's running under the third-line Constitution  Party, a largely libertarian-leaning group. Local officials are not pleased:

Tancredo’s entry into the race is likely to split the GOP vote in the general election, giving Hickenlooper a win, said Dick Wadhams, head of the state’s Republican Party.

He blasted Tancredo after hearing the former congressman was going to get in.

“Tom Tancredo has nobody’s interest in mind other than his own,” Wadhams said. “But what do you expect from a guy who reneged on his term-limit pledge and has been running for office for five decades.”

I used to respect Tancredo, but his politics have become more and more libertarian and increasingly crazy. If his true goal is to curtail illegal immigration or even just to keep a Democrat out of state office, he's doing it poorly. Expect a win in the D column this fall, unfortunately.

McCain Leads Hayworth by 20%

Some news from a new Rasmussen poll showing incumbent Senator John McCain over challenger, former Congressman JD Hayworth. Rasmussen is the most accurate of the major polling firms and has predicted the last two Presidential elections. As for the Arizona race, McCain is cleaning house:

McCain: 54%
Hayworth: 34%

With McCain over 50% and Hayworth's infomercial past exposed, it appears that the challenge is about to fail. Furthermore, the opposition to McCain appears to be splintering between Hayworth and other smaller candidates, further increasing McCain's chances of winning in the August contest.

Afghanistan vs. Vietnam - The Statistics.

Is the War in Afghanistan the same as the Vietnam War?

Absolutely not. Afghanistan has been fought with vigor and courage at such levels Vietnam knew nothing of, and our Troops in Afghanistan have been well received and honored at home, and the cause of our mission is supported by the American citizenry, and the ultimate cost of war cannot be compared between the two.

American casualties in Vietnam - 58,159 killed, 303,635 wounded.
American casualties in Afghanistan - 1,130 killed, 6,623 wounded.

How are these wars the same?

98% fewer American soldiers have died in Afghanistan, while 97% fewer American soldiers have been wounded in Afghanistan. Besides for both wars lasting for a long, long time, how in the hell are they the same? Afghanistan isn't split into two, victory can be achieved and our current war means a lot more than Vietnam ever did.

These wars are nothing alike, and will never be alike, unless liberal fanatics, and Libertarian nutjobs get what they want - total American surrender and a hostile Afghanistan.
