A Picture of Mohammed

Today is May 20th, Draw Muhammad Day. I support the concept of this day on the grounds of Americans' First Amendment rights. To be threatened for drawing an innocuous picture, regardless of who it is, is ridiculous. A simple drawing of Islam's prophet should be acceptable, especially if it does not demean him in any way.

The fact is that Jesus, Buddha, and every other prophet of most religions have been drawn. Not only this, but they have been insulted for years by cartoonists. However, our freedom of speech protects this. Therefore, the ability to draw a picture of Muhammad that does not make fun of him is clearly protected by our rights.

The right way to celebrate Draw Muhammad Day is to draw the prophet of Islam, but not to insult him. The point of the matter is that an innocuous drawing is protected by our freedom of speech and should not incite violence.

Here now is our picture of Muhammad:

Comedy Central: Can't Show One Picture of Muhammad, But IS Making an Entire Show about Jesus Christ

I'm just going to say it: Comedy Central must be run by a bunch of intolerant, free speech trampling morons. That's right folks, the television station that refused to show Muhammad twice is now making an ENTIRE SHOW making fun of Jesus Christ. How is that for religious tolerance?

This is so stupid I just cannot fathom it. Words can't express how imbecilic this truly is, and the words that I could use would make a stereotypical drunken sailor blush. This may sound nuts, but I actually think that Christians and any First Amendment lover in this nation should consider boycotting Comedy Central. I never say stuff like this because it's kind of crazy, but this stuff is just too far.

One picture of Muhammad. They just couldn't bring themselves to do it. Just one, in which Muhammad was not even criticized or made fun of. Yet Comedy Central is open to making an entire show about Jesus Christ, whom Christians believe was and is the Son of God. Heck, Muhammad was only a prophet in Islam, not the only child of our Lord.

This is just ridiculously irritating to me. Leave a comment and let them hear your voice. Email Comedy Central, email this article, spread the word. This has to stop.

Should Jumping in Pools Draw a Picture of Mohammed?

HotAir has announced May 20th as the official "Draw Mohammed Day."  This is in response to South Park being censored, and as a general symbolic use of our First Amendment rights.  Now I ask the question, should we join the movement?

Where I sit, I honestly am not sure what to do.  No one likes their religion being mocked, and it is probably offensive to Muslims that have nothing to do with terrorists.  I don't want to insult people that have nothing to do with violence, death threats, or censorship.

But then again, as Americans, we have the right to say and do whatever we want so long as it doesn't present a clear and present danger, i.e. screaming "fire" in a crowded room or causing a riot.  People have portrayed Jesus, Buddha, and every other deity a thousand different ways, but we are not allowed to even draw Mohammed?  Mohammed isn't even divine, but rather a prophet.

So what should we do?  I'm sure Mr. K has an opinion on this.  But please note, we might go against or with the opinions of you all, so don't get all in our grill if we don't do what you want.

Zogby: 71% Say No to Censoring South Park

According to a new Zogby poll, 71% of those asked stated that Comedy Central should not have censored last week's episode of South Park featuring a depiction of the Prophet Mohammed. Not only did the netowrk edit the image of Mohammed but also bleeped out his name and a speech about censorship. Talk about something out of Fahrenheit 451.

From the Zogby poll

Overall
Democrats
Republicans
Independents
Agree
19%
27%
9%
19%
Disagree
71%
60%
87%
68%
Do not follow/Not Sure
10%
13%
5%
13%

So according to this, 27% of Democrats support the decision to censor South Park instead of betraying 'sensibilities.' Although, to somewhat of their credit, 60% of Democrats oppose the censorship. Republicans are nearly unanimous against this attack on free speech in the name of political correctness.
