Zogby: 71% Say No to Censoring South Park

According to a new Zogby poll, 71% of those asked stated that Comedy Central should not have censored last week's episode of South Park featuring a depiction of the Prophet Mohammed. Not only did the netowrk edit the image of Mohammed but also bleeped out his name and a speech about censorship. Talk about something out of Fahrenheit 451.

From the Zogby poll

So according to this, 27% of Democrats support the decision to censor South Park instead of betraying 'sensibilities.' Although, to somewhat of their credit, 60% of Democrats oppose the censorship. Republicans are nearly unanimous against this attack on free speech in the name of political correctness.

Obama Approval Falls to 49%

President Obama's approval rating has fallen below 50%, according to one Zogby poll. This is below the 53% that he received in the 2008 elections and represents a watershed moment in his Presidency.

Americans appear to be losing faith in the President's handle of the American government. As an executive, Obama has shown some initiative but very little command. He has been unable to adequately corral his vast majorities in Congress to his advantage. While the stimulus bill was passed, little else of his Congressional agenda seems to be going forward.

Other than that, the President has done some unpopular things, like consider bringing Guantanamo terrorists to the US or releasing them, providing foreign money for abortions, and restricting oil drilling. The President received a mandate, but seems to be squandering it in a partisan, strong-armed fashion.

This was not the bipartisanship he promised, and in fact, is very far from it. He needs to correct or face a Jindal presidency in 2013.

Obama Approval at 58%

Americans have rated the incoming President with a 58% approval rating for what he's been doing during the transition.

In a way, I'm with the majority. President-Elect Obama appears to be attempting to continue some of Bush's policies and may even consider an attack on Iran. While the effects of that decision may be terrible, it's good that he realizes that the military option is an option.

Other than that, he's been talking about the economy, proposing a trillion dollar surplus. While this may not be the best plan, he's at least attempting to be proactive. He may need to rethink the plan, though.
