Who is Faisal Shahzad?

I've been doing some investigative research. Here's what I have been able to piece together by going through some internet records. First, his house. He sold a house in Norwalk, CT in 2004 for $261,000:

Giardino, Jennifer, Norwalk. Seller: Faisal Shahzad, Norwalk. Property: in Norwalk. Amount: $261,000. Filed April 26.
 So far all I have.

More Leftwing Blame on The Right for the Times Square Bombing

I know that no one gets tired of this, but we have some brilliant-- and I mean brilliant comments off of the left-wing site Crooks and Liars. So the original post said this:

You know, I don't want to jump to conclusions here, because that would make me too much like Matt Drudge. But if the car bomber was indeed a white guy in his 40s who didn't know the difference between ammonium nitrate and plain old fertilizer, I'm thinking it's gotta be a Beck Patriot who was trying to water the tree of liberty with... the blood of random Times Square tourists.

Okay, pretty stupid, right?

Now some of the fabulous comments:

They are getting more like the Taliban by the day. Know the American Taliban leaders by their dark suit uniforms, the lapel pin, the hair, the part out of the side of their heads [how do they do that?], the shoes [apparently very important cult symbol].

Tribal members are a bit harder to identify, but it gets easier with practice. It's real easy if you use racial profiling simply because they are almost all white, not that i'm advising this is any way!
It's real easy if you use age profiling simply because they are middle age or older [plus a few of their offspring]. There are a lot of members that thought they were going to be rich by following Bush down his rabbit hole, and they're crazy that they were thwarted.
Nothing makes the narcissist crazier than getting busted.

And:

$20 says it's a Teabagger wingnut... anyone who finds 'hope' in Sarah Palin and fears Obama's Socialistic agenda is likely smart enough to strap their Timex travel alarm clock to a bag of Turfbuilder Plus

and:

What Anti American party has been calling for the failure of this Presidency, what party is GUILTY of having this Country ATTACKED on its watch, what Party LIED us into a WAR, what party does NOT want the TRAILS held in New York, what party LIES ,Misinforms and manipulates the Truth on a daily bases, what party left us with a 1 Trillion dollar deficit, what party Socialized losses and Privatized Profits, what party every day Preaches, Talks and wants Nothing but HATRED and FEAR, what party want the PLUTOCRACY of America, oh their CRIMES are many more to include the present OIL SPILL in the GULZF with a typical RIGHT WING COWARDLY response.
I give you the GUTLES, SPINELESS, COWARDLY Right Wing Wackos called republicans and their Fear and Hate mongering tea baggers (hey Idiot tea baggers were are your drill baby drill tee shirts now you spineless racist Nazis, and like all good SPINELESS republicans these COWARDS will find away to blame everyone but themselves.
The bomber will be a Right Wing Wacko, who has ties to the republican party and the tea baggers. Please note Wacko Right Wing immediately reported it was the middle east. Look for some of the cameras not to be working and the tapes to be lost or damaged Right Wing Wacko land is now in Damage control mode. This was and is a attempt by the Right Wing to discredit the President and put the Plutocrats in direct POWER. The right wing machine is a SELL OUT Machine.

and:
they hate that a president is a black man even worse than they hate that he's a dem. then he turns out to be a fucking raygun dem bipartisanshit-seeking corporatist of the highest order.
many are pissed off, but the special kind of car-bomb pissed off belongs to rethuglyKKKans.
they are racists, not just crazy. it's an ugly word for an ugly, irrational mental disorder. it is also the truth.

and finally:

Fertilizer, gun locker, firecrackers and alarm clocks. It screams rightwing idiot to me. No self respecting terrorist would be that stupid.

Wow. It's almost like I wish I was a caricature of a right-winger and couldn't read.

Faisal Shahzad: The Attempted Bomber

 From the Daily News:

The man at the center of the botched Times Square car bomb plot was known in his neighborhood as a mysterious loner who kept odd hours and "always looked on edge," neighbors said Tuesday.
"I thought he might be connected to to terrorism - a lot of us did because he acted strangely," said Dashawn LeBelle, who lives near Faisal Shahzad in Bridgeport, Conn. "But we didn't call police. We should have called."
"He would be carrying in boxes in the middle of the night. He always looked on edge," said LeBelle, who added that he often wore Islamic garb.
"We knew something weird was going on."
Shahzad, a 30-year-old Pakistani-American, was in custody Tuesday after he was pulled off a Dubai-bound flight at JFK Airport.
Shahzad recently traveled to Pakistan, where he reportedly spent time in Karachi and Peshawar, an area known as a haven for Islamic militants, officials said.
A married father of two small children, Shahzad moved to Bridgeport, Conn., with his wife, Huma Mian, last year.
"He was a very smart guy, very kind, but you could sort of tell he was hiding something," said Lorenzo Patel, 32. "He had family but it's like he was going places alone and keeping odd hours, not like a father should.
"That house gave me a bad feeling."
Born in Karachi, Shahzad moved to the United States in 1998 after getting a student visa, sources said.
Shahzad, whose father was a member of the Pakistani Air Force, studied at now-shuttered Southeastern University in Washington, D.C., before transferring to the University of Bridgeport, where he graduated in 2000 with a degree in computer applications and information systems.
He returned to the school and earned an MBA in 2005.
"I remember him as being quiet but very intelligent and diligent," said one professor, who declined to give his name.
After graduating, Shahzad was granted a work visa.
He got married in 2008 and became a naturalized citizen on April 17, 2009.
Before moving to Bridgeport, Shahzad lived in a two-story colonial home in Shelton, Conn.
He purchased the house in 2004 and took out a $218,400 mortgage. But the house went into foreclosure last year.
That wasn't the end of his money woes. Shahzad also was sued last year by Hoffman Fuel for $793.14, records show.
Neighbor Brenda Thurman, 37, said Shahzad dressed nicely and claimed to work on Wall Street.
Thurman said she spoke sporadically with Shahzad and that it took three years for the wife to admit she too spoke English.
"They seemed a little strange but not to the point of this," Thurman said.
Thurman added that he left the family's home every morning, wearing a shirt and tie.
"Other than that he didn't come out much," Thurman said. He said he didn't like daylight. When he came out at night he was always in black, full length dress. He would go jogging like that. I thought it was strange."

Times Square Bomber Captured. Thanks, Patriot Act!

I realize that the Patriot Act was indeed written to guarantee a Nazi-esque police state in which anti-war protesters were beaten and environmental activists executed, but it appears that one of its less-horrible means has captured one of the men responsible for Saturday's bombing attempt.

The vehicle identification number had been removed from the bomb-laden 1993 Nissan Pathfinder left in Times Square. But investigators were able to lift it from a second location on the vehicle, and used that to track down a Connecticut man who said he had sold the Pathfinder for cash about three weeks ago.

The man had offered the vehicle on Craigslist, and FBI agents were able to recover the number from a disposable cellphone that had been used by the buyer.

Suspect Arrested in Times Square Bombing Case

Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistani man believed to be connected to the failed Times Square bombing attack this Saturday, was arrested just hours ago while trying to board a plane headed for Dubai.

Here's the rest from the AP/Yahoo!:

NEW YORK – A Pakistani man believed to be the driver of an SUV used as a car bomb in a failed terror attack on Times Square was taken into custody late Monday by FBI agents and local police detectives while trying to leave the country, U.S. officials said.
The suspect, Faisal Shahzad, was identified by customs agents atJohn F. Kennedy International Airport at about 11:45 p.m. Monday and was stopped before boarding an Emirates airlines flight to Dubai, according to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and other officials. Shahzad is a naturalized U.S. citizen and had recently returned from a five-month trip to Pakistan, where he had a wife, according to officials who spoke to The Associated Press early Tuesday on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation.
Shahzad was being held in New York and couldn't be contacted. He has a Shelton, Conn., address; a phone number listed there wasn't in service. Investigators were searching his home.
The U.S. attorney's office for the Southern District in Manhattan will handle the case and said Shahzad would appear in court Tuesday on formal charges, but those charges were not made public.
Holder said the U.S. "will not rest until we have brought everyone responsible to justice," suggesting additional suspects are being sought.

Feds Eye Pakistani-American in NYC Car Bomb Plot

Investigators are looking at a Pakistani-American as a person of interest in the attempted car bombing in Times Square Saturday. This comes as the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the potentially deadly attack.

Investigators are examining phone records of businesses that sell some of the bomb's components and chasing leads in "several locations" on the East Coast and beyond, a federal law enforcement official told CNN. The official would not say whether any of the leads were in other countries, and cautioned that the investigation could take "a few more days or weeks."

I don't know who is behind the attack. However, the evidence points to someone in the US attempting to attack. My guess is someone pissed at the South Park folks for the Mohammed episode.

How is Revolution Muslim Covering the NYC Plot?

First off, they held a protest in Times Square the day of the plot. Coincidence?

HuffPo Comments: Tea Party, Palin, Behind NYC Car Bomb

A hat tip to JWF, whose website has a similar story. However, I've found some fairly incendiary comments from our friends at the Huffington Post-- blaming the Tea Party movement even before the NYPD announces the name of a suspect. The comments are from the story on a bomb scare in Pittsburgh.

These are from the story about the investigation on the Times Square bomb:

And one of the modertors is tagged Kilgore Trout-- like the one from LGF?

Taliban Claims Responsibility for NYC Car Bomb

I think that they're full of crap, but it appears like the Taliban is trying to cash in on the car bombing in New York yesterday-- trying to stay relevant.

Qari Hussain Mehsud, the top bomb maker for the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan, said he takes "fully responsibility for the recent attack in the USA." Qari Hussain made the claim on an audiotape accompanied by images that was released on a YouTube website that calls itself the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan News Channel.
The tape has yet to be verified, but US intelligence officials contacted by The Long War Journal believe it is legitimate. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan News Channel on YouTube was created on April 30. Officials believe it was created to announce the Times Square attack, and Qari Hussain’s statement was pre-recorded.
All indications are the tape is legitimate. YouTube has pulled the video and shut down the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan News Channel since this article was published.

Lance Orton: Profile of a Hero

There were a lot of heroes in the defusing of the car bomb in Times Square last night and this morning. They include the police chief Ray Kelly, the bomb squad, the NYPD, and the FDNY. However, all of their efforts would have been in vain if not for one man.

A t-shirt vendor who tipped off the police.

This man has been talked about now in the NY Times, with a little bit about this hero who does not want to be named. A nametag identifies him as Lance Orton.

A little about his actions:

“I’m not going to say nothing, I’m not going to say nothing,” he said when first approached by a gaggle of reporters.

As he walked down the street, employees from Junior’s restaurant stood outside applauding him. He briefly entered the restaurant before heading toward 44th Street.

He walked with a limp, had a cane, wore a white fedora and had a hoop earring in his right ear.

When asked if he was proud of his actions, he said: “Of course, man. I’m a veteran. What do you think?”

Hero.

Another terrorist attack on American soil.

November 5th 2009 - Nidal Malik Hasan murdered 13 American Soldiers at the Fort Hood Military base. Hasan is a radical Islamist who hates this Nation, was in contact with a radical imam who had connections with Islamic terrorists, and considered the "fight against" American soldiers a spiritual duty for all Muslims.

December 25th 2009 - Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab unsuccessfully attempted to bring down Northwest Airlines Flight 253 over Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas day. Abdulmatallab was also connected to that same imam who Major Hasan exchanged emails with, and who he considered a hero. Abdulmutallab was a native of Yemen, and even his own father warned American officials about his radical beliefs.

May 1st 2010 - An unknown terrorist or terrorists planted a Car Bomb in Times Square, which was rigged to explode and would have caused a massive loss of life. Due to the heroic actions of a local vendor who was also a Vietnam Veteran, New York Cops were alerted, and the bomb was neutralized.

Let us not forget the half-of-dozen terrorist attacks the Federal Bureau of Investigation stopped last year, including a attack on the New York Subway system. America has faced terrorist attack after terrorist attack over the past fifteen months of Obama being in office, our Nation is weaker and our enemies know it.

According to some speculation on Twitter and traditional media sources, the terrorist attack in Times Square might have been directed at Viacom, which owns and broadcasts Comedy Central, which in turn broadcasted the television show South Park, which a few weeks ago dared to make fun of the Muslim religion. This is all speculation as of now, but interesting.

Except for a few Conservative bloggers, almost all Republican lawmakers; who are out of power at this moment, Joe Lieberman; who is thankfully in power, and our Armed Forces as a whole, America has been neglecting the War on Terrorism the past fifteen months, and we can't afford to anylonger.

We're in a War. We need to start acting like it, such as we did after September eleventh. Please remember we're in a War on Terror when casting your ballots for Republican candidates during the primaries and in November: Not one weak, libertarian, wussass Republican should be voted into office, we have enough of them in the Democratic caucus.

Stay strong America and God Bless America!

Without a strong National Defense; nothing else matters.
