US Citizen Arrested in Pakistan for Trying to Assasinate bin Laden

A US citizen named Gary Faulkner was arrested in Pakistan attempting to kill the leader of al Qaeda. Faulkner was picked up by the Pakistani police-- apparently he was on the right track. He was hunting OBL near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and had made seven trips to the country.

"We initially laughed when he told us that he wanted to kill Osama bin Laden," said Khan. But he said when officers seized the pistol, the sword and night vision equipment that "our suspicion grew."

I say let him go and let him do as he wishes. If by some chance he bags OBL, the better it is for all of us. Good for you, Mr. Faulkner!

Pakistan Nutjobs: US Behind Times Square Attack

A rather eye-opening piece from the NY Times, of all places. Apparently, Pakistan is rife with all sorts of crazy conspiracy theories about how everyone is out to destroy Pakistan and the Muslim world. But there are some rather interesting excerpts in there:

[Hamid] uses Google searches to support his theory that India, Israel and the United States — through their intelligence agencies and the company formerly known as Blackwater — are conspiring to destroy Pakistan.
For Mr. Hamid, the case of Mr. Shahzad is one piece of a larger puzzle being assembled to pressure Pakistan. Why, otherwise, the strange inconsistencies, like the bomb’s not exploding? “If you connect the dots, you have a pretty exciting story,” he said.

It's almost like none of this is true! But there is a sad part:

But Mr. Hamid is more interested in the larger plot, like the secret ownership of the Federal Reserve, which he found on the Internet. After three years of fame, his star seems to be falling. This month his show was canceled, and he has had to rely on Facebook and audio CDs to make his points.

Awwwwww.

Feds Eye Pakistani-American in NYC Car Bomb Plot

Investigators are looking at a Pakistani-American as a person of interest in the attempted car bombing in Times Square Saturday. This comes as the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the potentially deadly attack.

Investigators are examining phone records of businesses that sell some of the bomb's components and chasing leads in "several locations" on the East Coast and beyond, a federal law enforcement official told CNN. The official would not say whether any of the leads were in other countries, and cautioned that the investigation could take "a few more days or weeks."

I don't know who is behind the attack. However, the evidence points to someone in the US attempting to attack. My guess is someone pissed at the South Park folks for the Mohammed episode.

Obama to Give Taliban 'Recognition' for Cease-Fire

Hajjaj Keveshadze

5/3/2009

President Barack Obama of the United States of America is going to offer the Taliban fighters of Afghanistan and Pakistan a deal. This deal is to give them official recognition in exchange for the stopping of fighting.

Dr. Ali Jafaradze of Tehran University believes that this deal is meant to encircle Iran, "With American influence in Pakistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan, they mean to crush our nation with American imperialist zeal."

According to the secret plan, which our spies intercepted on April 30, Obama plans to visit Karachi and meet with Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban. He will then offer the Taliban vast regions of Baluchistan in Iran so that the Taliban will stop attacking the American ally Pakistan.

Obama is afraid of the influence of Iran in the region. He is also afraid of our peaceful nuclear program, meant to spread cheap electricity to the entire Middle East, thus defusing American influence.

While in Karachi, Obama may meet with Osama bin Laden and coordinate attacks against Iranian targets. Members of the Mossad may also attend this top-secret meeting.

President Ahmadinejad says that he will not be intimidated by these reports.

Obama's Already Pissed Off India

President Obama campaigned to bring about a change to American foreign policy. This is a campaign promise that he has kept thus far. Over the last eight years, the United States has become closer to the world's most populous democracy. And within less than a month, the President appears to be reversing the trend.

An alliance with India would be very beneficial to the United States. Not only is India an expanding market, but shares a common enemy in Islamist terrorism. India has one of the world's largest militaries and would be able to assist in future endeavors. India is an up-and-coming partner in many fields: space, economy, and military. And this is not the time to go endangering that. Doesn't mean that we can't try.

MK Narayanan, India’s national security advisor, said that the new US administration was in danger of dredging up out of date Clinton administration-era strategies in a bid to bring about improved ties between the two nuclear armed neighbours.

“I do think that we could make President Obama understand, if he does nurse any such view, that he is barking up the wrong tree. I think Kashmir today has become one of the quieter and safer places in this part of the world,” Mr Narayanan said in an interview with CNBC TV18.

“It’s possible that at this time there are elements, perhaps in the administration who are harking back to the pre-2000 era.”

One Year Anniversary

Although her death is lost in the headlines today, December 27, 2008 marks the one year anniversary of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Bhutto was running, and polls showed that she was winning, in the Pakistani General Election before her death. Her assassination must be remembered, but is forgotten by the masses.

Pakistan Offers "Joint Investigation"

Today, Pakistan offered a "joint investigation" into the Mumbai attacks. However, Pakistan is demanding that India show proof that the terrorists that struck Mumbai "were Pakistanis" before he would "arrest and extradite the list of terror suspects."

For India and Pakistan, it is a start. India must show it's resolve in hunting down terrorist scum by showing Pakistan proof that the terrorists were Pakistani. Pakistan, in turn, must help India track them down and send them to India.

It seems like progress is being made between the two countries, and I pray that progress continues.

War Between India and Pakistan Must Be Avoided
