We Should be Ashamed

Exactly nine years ago to the minute, hundreds of people were dying. Many died of burns, trauma, or smoke inhalation. Just minutes later would almost 3,000 in total be murdered by an imperialist attack by the forces of Islamist terrorism. People jumped from the Towers in order to not suffer burns any longer-- people walked stunned over the Brooklyn Bridge-- over 200 firefighters did not return home.

And few remember.

We should be ashamed of ourselves. In the days following the attacks of September 11th, 2001, some of the most parroted lines were "Lest we forget" and "Never forget." By the end of 2005 it was apparent that the majority of Americans had forgotten, or just did not care.

Think about the resolve of the 90% of Americans who stood up to call for a blistering attack on the center of Islamist terrorism. That not only meant the Taliban, but state sponsors, like Iraq, Iran, and Syria. Time had come to finally destroy those who had funded this type of murder for decades.

Do you remember how idiotic the 10% of the rest of the country looked when they opposed attacking Osama? Those people formed the core of the anti-Iraq War detractors and the Kerry '04 and Obama '08 campaigns. They are just as stupid now as they were while Ground Zero was still smoldering.

President Bush made a roaring and strong speech just nine days after the attack, showing just what we had to do. Americans were supportive of it then, when we actually remembered the attack:

We're really so concerned that three terrorists were waterboarded? We're so concerned that Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the planner of the deaths of 3,000 Americans and the decapitator of Daniel Pearl, had a gunshot fired near him to scare him? I don't care. He murdered thousands of innocent people. I just don't care about him getting waterboarded, and neither should you.

We whine so much about the tools which prevented the next attack. We are disgusted by the lessons learned from the attacks.

Say what you want about George W. Bush, but he kept his promises. He promised that he wouldn't forget. He promised that he would make sure to avenge September 11th, 2001, and make sure that it would not reoccur on his watch.

He kept his word-- that is his legacy.

Who is Faisal Shahzad?

I've been doing some investigative research. Here's what I have been able to piece together by going through some internet records. First, his house. He sold a house in Norwalk, CT in 2004 for $261,000:

Giardino, Jennifer, Norwalk. Seller: Faisal Shahzad, Norwalk. Property: in Norwalk. Amount: $261,000. Filed April 26.
 So far all I have.

More Leftwing Blame on The Right for the Times Square Bombing

I know that no one gets tired of this, but we have some brilliant-- and I mean brilliant comments off of the left-wing site Crooks and Liars. So the original post said this:

You know, I don't want to jump to conclusions here, because that would make me too much like Matt Drudge. But if the car bomber was indeed a white guy in his 40s who didn't know the difference between ammonium nitrate and plain old fertilizer, I'm thinking it's gotta be a Beck Patriot who was trying to water the tree of liberty with... the blood of random Times Square tourists.

Okay, pretty stupid, right?

Now some of the fabulous comments:

They are getting more like the Taliban by the day. Know the American Taliban leaders by their dark suit uniforms, the lapel pin, the hair, the part out of the side of their heads [how do they do that?], the shoes [apparently very important cult symbol].

Tribal members are a bit harder to identify, but it gets easier with practice. It's real easy if you use racial profiling simply because they are almost all white, not that i'm advising this is any way!
It's real easy if you use age profiling simply because they are middle age or older [plus a few of their offspring]. There are a lot of members that thought they were going to be rich by following Bush down his rabbit hole, and they're crazy that they were thwarted.
Nothing makes the narcissist crazier than getting busted.

And:

$20 says it's a Teabagger wingnut... anyone who finds 'hope' in Sarah Palin and fears Obama's Socialistic agenda is likely smart enough to strap their Timex travel alarm clock to a bag of Turfbuilder Plus

and:

What Anti American party has been calling for the failure of this Presidency, what party is GUILTY of having this Country ATTACKED on its watch, what Party LIED us into a WAR, what party does NOT want the TRAILS held in New York, what party LIES ,Misinforms and manipulates the Truth on a daily bases, what party left us with a 1 Trillion dollar deficit, what party Socialized losses and Privatized Profits, what party every day Preaches, Talks and wants Nothing but HATRED and FEAR, what party want the PLUTOCRACY of America, oh their CRIMES are many more to include the present OIL SPILL in the GULZF with a typical RIGHT WING COWARDLY response.
I give you the GUTLES, SPINELESS, COWARDLY Right Wing Wackos called republicans and their Fear and Hate mongering tea baggers (hey Idiot tea baggers were are your drill baby drill tee shirts now you spineless racist Nazis, and like all good SPINELESS republicans these COWARDS will find away to blame everyone but themselves.
The bomber will be a Right Wing Wacko, who has ties to the republican party and the tea baggers. Please note Wacko Right Wing immediately reported it was the middle east. Look for some of the cameras not to be working and the tapes to be lost or damaged Right Wing Wacko land is now in Damage control mode. This was and is a attempt by the Right Wing to discredit the President and put the Plutocrats in direct POWER. The right wing machine is a SELL OUT Machine.

and:
they hate that a president is a black man even worse than they hate that he's a dem. then he turns out to be a fucking raygun dem bipartisanshit-seeking corporatist of the highest order.
many are pissed off, but the special kind of car-bomb pissed off belongs to rethuglyKKKans.
they are racists, not just crazy. it's an ugly word for an ugly, irrational mental disorder. it is also the truth.

and finally:

Fertilizer, gun locker, firecrackers and alarm clocks. It screams rightwing idiot to me. No self respecting terrorist would be that stupid.

Wow. It's almost like I wish I was a caricature of a right-winger and couldn't read.

Faisal Shahzad: The Attempted Bomber

 From the Daily News:

The man at the center of the botched Times Square car bomb plot was known in his neighborhood as a mysterious loner who kept odd hours and "always looked on edge," neighbors said Tuesday.
"I thought he might be connected to to terrorism - a lot of us did because he acted strangely," said Dashawn LeBelle, who lives near Faisal Shahzad in Bridgeport, Conn. "But we didn't call police. We should have called."
"He would be carrying in boxes in the middle of the night. He always looked on edge," said LeBelle, who added that he often wore Islamic garb.
"We knew something weird was going on."
Shahzad, a 30-year-old Pakistani-American, was in custody Tuesday after he was pulled off a Dubai-bound flight at JFK Airport.
Shahzad recently traveled to Pakistan, where he reportedly spent time in Karachi and Peshawar, an area known as a haven for Islamic militants, officials said.
A married father of two small children, Shahzad moved to Bridgeport, Conn., with his wife, Huma Mian, last year.
"He was a very smart guy, very kind, but you could sort of tell he was hiding something," said Lorenzo Patel, 32. "He had family but it's like he was going places alone and keeping odd hours, not like a father should.
"That house gave me a bad feeling."
Born in Karachi, Shahzad moved to the United States in 1998 after getting a student visa, sources said.
Shahzad, whose father was a member of the Pakistani Air Force, studied at now-shuttered Southeastern University in Washington, D.C., before transferring to the University of Bridgeport, where he graduated in 2000 with a degree in computer applications and information systems.
He returned to the school and earned an MBA in 2005.
"I remember him as being quiet but very intelligent and diligent," said one professor, who declined to give his name.
After graduating, Shahzad was granted a work visa.
He got married in 2008 and became a naturalized citizen on April 17, 2009.
Before moving to Bridgeport, Shahzad lived in a two-story colonial home in Shelton, Conn.
He purchased the house in 2004 and took out a $218,400 mortgage. But the house went into foreclosure last year.
That wasn't the end of his money woes. Shahzad also was sued last year by Hoffman Fuel for $793.14, records show.
Neighbor Brenda Thurman, 37, said Shahzad dressed nicely and claimed to work on Wall Street.
Thurman said she spoke sporadically with Shahzad and that it took three years for the wife to admit she too spoke English.
"They seemed a little strange but not to the point of this," Thurman said.
Thurman added that he left the family's home every morning, wearing a shirt and tie.
"Other than that he didn't come out much," Thurman said. He said he didn't like daylight. When he came out at night he was always in black, full length dress. He would go jogging like that. I thought it was strange."

Times Square Bomber Captured. Thanks, Patriot Act!

I realize that the Patriot Act was indeed written to guarantee a Nazi-esque police state in which anti-war protesters were beaten and environmental activists executed, but it appears that one of its less-horrible means has captured one of the men responsible for Saturday's bombing attempt.

The vehicle identification number had been removed from the bomb-laden 1993 Nissan Pathfinder left in Times Square. But investigators were able to lift it from a second location on the vehicle, and used that to track down a Connecticut man who said he had sold the Pathfinder for cash about three weeks ago.

The man had offered the vehicle on Craigslist, and FBI agents were able to recover the number from a disposable cellphone that had been used by the buyer.

Feds Eye Pakistani-American in NYC Car Bomb Plot

Investigators are looking at a Pakistani-American as a person of interest in the attempted car bombing in Times Square Saturday. This comes as the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the potentially deadly attack.

Investigators are examining phone records of businesses that sell some of the bomb's components and chasing leads in "several locations" on the East Coast and beyond, a federal law enforcement official told CNN. The official would not say whether any of the leads were in other countries, and cautioned that the investigation could take "a few more days or weeks."

I don't know who is behind the attack. However, the evidence points to someone in the US attempting to attack. My guess is someone pissed at the South Park folks for the Mohammed episode.

First off, they held a protest in Times Square the day of the plot. Coincidence?

Next, take a look at what they say to the revelation that the head of the Pakistani Taliban is alive:

To Our Amir, We love you and pray for your redemption. May Allah (swt) protect you and make you Salahuddin and give you many lives like our beautiful brothers Abu Umar and Abu Musaab, Amin!!! It is so good to see your lovely noor! pleasing to the eye! Allahu Akbar!

Taliban Claims Responsibility for NYC Car Bomb

I think that they're full of crap, but it appears like the Taliban is trying to cash in on the car bombing in New York yesterday-- trying to stay relevant.

Qari Hussain Mehsud, the top bomb maker for the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan, said he takes "fully responsibility for the recent attack in the USA." Qari Hussain made the claim on an audiotape accompanied by images that was released on a YouTube website that calls itself the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan News Channel.
The tape has yet to be verified, but US intelligence officials contacted by The Long War Journal believe it is legitimate. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan News Channel on YouTube was created on April 30. Officials believe it was created to announce the Times Square attack, and Qari Hussain’s statement was pre-recorded.
All indications are the tape is legitimate. YouTube has pulled the video and shut down the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan News Channel since this article was published.

Lance Orton: Profile of a Hero

There were a lot of heroes in the defusing of the car bomb in Times Square last night and this morning. They include the police chief Ray Kelly, the bomb squad, the NYPD, and the FDNY. However, all of their efforts would have been in vain if not for one man.

A t-shirt vendor who tipped off the police.

This man has been talked about now in the NY Times, with a little bit about this hero who does not want to be named. A nametag identifies him as Lance Orton.

A little about his actions:

“I’m not going to say nothing, I’m not going to say nothing,” he said when first approached by a gaggle of reporters.

As he walked down the street, employees from Junior’s restaurant stood outside applauding him. He briefly entered the restaurant before heading toward 44th Street.

He walked with a limp, had a cane, wore a white fedora and had a hoop earring in his right ear.

When asked if he was proud of his actions, he said: “Of course, man. I’m a veteran. What do you think?”

Hero.

Another terrorist attack on American soil.

November 5th 2009 - Nidal Malik Hasan murdered 13 American Soldiers at the Fort Hood Military base. Hasan is a radical Islamist who hates this Nation, was in contact with a radical imam who had connections with Islamic terrorists, and considered the "fight against" American soldiers a spiritual duty for all Muslims.

December 25th 2009 - Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab unsuccessfully attempted to bring down Northwest Airlines Flight 253 over Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas day. Abdulmatallab was also connected to that same imam who Major Hasan exchanged emails with, and who he considered a hero. Abdulmutallab was a native of Yemen, and even his own father warned American officials about his radical beliefs.

May 1st 2010 - An unknown terrorist or terrorists planted a Car Bomb in Times Square, which was rigged to explode and would have caused a massive loss of life. Due to the heroic actions of a local vendor who was also a Vietnam Veteran, New York Cops were alerted, and the bomb was neutralized.

Let us not forget the half-of-dozen terrorist attacks the Federal Bureau of Investigation stopped last year, including a attack on the New York Subway system. America has faced terrorist attack after terrorist attack over the past fifteen months of Obama being in office, our Nation is weaker and our enemies know it.

According to some speculation on Twitter and traditional media sources, the terrorist attack in Times Square might have been directed at Viacom, which owns and broadcasts Comedy Central, which in turn broadcasted the television show South Park, which a few weeks ago dared to make fun of the Muslim religion. This is all speculation as of now, but interesting.

Except for a few Conservative bloggers, almost all Republican lawmakers; who are out of power at this moment, Joe Lieberman; who is thankfully in power, and our Armed Forces as a whole, America has been neglecting the War on Terrorism the past fifteen months, and we can't afford to anylonger.

We're in a War. We need to start acting like it, such as we did after September eleventh. Please remember we're in a War on Terror when casting your ballots for Republican candidates during the primaries and in November: Not one weak, libertarian, wussass Republican should be voted into office, we have enough of them in the Democratic caucus.

Stay strong America and God Bless America!

Without a strong National Defense; nothing else matters.

The Case for Obama's Resignation

Senator Barack Obama promised unity if he were to be elected President. Despite his short tenure in office as the junior Senator from Illinois, supporters soothed a nation with promises of unbridled competence to carry out meaningful and constructive changes.

All of this came over a year ago. On November 4, 2008, Obama and his many supporters got their wish and he was elected the 44th President of the United States. Never mind that Obama spent less time in the Senate before running for President than JFK did in the House before running for the Senate (and JFK was a war hero).

Now in office, Obama's Administration is attempting to tout progress in various arenas. Instead, it appears that his policies are hardly helping the country.

On the economy, the President's team is trying strenously to claim that despite the poor conditions, Obama's policies steered the nation away from a cliff. Not only is unemployment at 10%, if there is to be an argument that the TARP policies kept the country from Depression, it was done on George W. Bush's watch. And considering that much of the stimulus funding has not even been spent, it would appear that it has helped not nearly as much as promised.

His foreign policy is a joke. Gone is the 'War on Terror' keeping the United States safe. Even a relatively simple task like closing the prison on Guantanamo Bay (shoot the prisoners, hello?) has become a never-ending quagmire. Yemen and Somalia are becoming terrorist havens despite Bush-era policies attempting to quash jihadism in both nations. Iran is getting close to a bomb and the Administration has failed for six months to stand up for pro-democracy protesters.

So here's what I'm positing. President Obama has not even finished his first term. According to the 22nd Amendment, if he were to resign before his first two years are up he could legally run for two full terms down the line. He should admit he was wrong and that he knew he didn't have enough experience or policy expertise to be President and resign. He could say that he's doing this for the good of the country. Considering he had enough time to play tennis and basketball for three days instead of reassuring the nation after the Christmas bombing plot, he should either review his priorities or consider packing up and rejoining the Senate.

Then he could be the man he promised to be.

Fort Hood Attack Shows a Post-9/11 Security System and Pre-9/11 Mentality Leaves Us Vulnerable

The terrorist attacks in Fort Hood last week were a horrific reminder that the nation is not safe and that the heroism of American soldiers was tested on American soil. Unfortunately, it shows that the government is becoming increasingly unable to catch potential terrorist attacks.

Hasan was a lone gunman, making the shooting far less likely to catch before it actually occurred. However, the FBI had significant evidence of Hasan's radical views and the fact that he contacted al Qaeda associates. He was in contact with the Imam of the 9/11 hijackers! What!? We knew about this and we didn't even question the guy? We didn't alert security on the base? We have a Major-- with intelligence clearances and access to automatic weapons. He could have been a mole for al Qaeda, a planner, or-- a shooter.

One of the problems that allowed 9/11 to happen was not repeated. We found out ahead of time-- we got the intelligence we needed. However, what was not there was the mentality to stop it.

The policies of the Obama Administration telling intelligence agencies to be careful about what they do regarding terrorism could have prevented the FBI from tackling the issue. Perhaps concerns about being called "anti-Muslim" prevented an FBI agent from busting the guy. Perhaps they were concerned about being called overzealous.

Part of this stems out of the prosecution of the CIA agents who interrogated al Qaeda terrorists after the September 11th attacks. Obama made it clear that he would have two policies. One: he would allow many of the Bush security surveillance programs to continue, breaking his campaign promises. In order to please his rabid left-wing base, he decided to prosecute the CIA and make it so intelligence gathered would not be acted upon.

This policy is idiotic and fatal. We must remember that the security of our country trumps politics. If only the White House knew that.

Guest Article: The United States Institute for Peace: Trojan Horse for Terrorism?

Jumping in Pools is proud to present its second guest article, this time from Just Politics..?, or harrisonprice.com. Check out their excellent blog. So, without further ado:

The United States Institute for Peace: Trojan Horse for Terrorism?

On one of the blogs I read I learned about Daniel H. Simpson, former United States Ambassador to the Central African Republic (1990-92), Kenya (1994-1995) and the Congo-Kinshasa (1995-98) according to the Wikipedia article on him. He was brought up as someone of “authority” who says the United States should leave Afghanistan. I did a little digging on this man and found some interesting things which I’d like to share with you.

Mr. Simpson currently writes for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (you may read his columns here) and, again according to the Wikipedia page on him, he is on the Board of Directors the United States Institute of Peace.

Sounds like a nice place, the United States Institute of Peace, doesn’t it? I think of Starfleet Command or people from the future who have no need for money or possessions and they all live in harmony. So, what, exactly is the United States Institute of Peace, anyway?

The United States Institute of Peace

The United States Institute of Peace

According to their website:

The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) provides the analysis, training and tools that help to prevent, manage and end violent international conflicts, promote stability and professionalize the field of peacebuilding.

To start with, they have a very nice building! The construction costs alone (not counting the land) cost $108 million. Since it is centrally located in Washington, D.C. the land must have been very expensive. According to the firm that designed it:

Moshe Safdie and Associates of Somerville, Mass., designed the concrete building as a symbolic statement of the nation’s commitment to peace.

I have no problem with extravagantly expensive buildings but this “organization” is funded by the U.S. taxpayer and is established as a nonprofit tax-exempt entity. This organization receives upwards of $30 million a year from the taxpayer. According to the CATO Institute, the United States Institute of Peace is listed as a “costly agency” that should be cut from taxpayer support.

Okay, so they have an expensive building, they consume millions of dollars in taxpayer monies, and one influential think tank thinks they should be de-funded. So what does the United States Institute of Peace actually say about the issues and whom do they support?

For starters in a recent report from this organization essentially says that even though the terrorist organization Hamas calls for the destruction of Israel, they have “changed” and Israel should work with them. However the report also says:

For Hamas, “recognition” of Israel would represent a negation of the rightness of its own cause and would be indefensible under Islam.

Although Hamas, as an Islamic organization, will not transgress shari’a, which it understands as forbidding recognition, it has formulated mechanisms that allow it to deal with the reality of Israel as a fait accompli.

So Israel should compromise with Hamas even though Hamas’ official position (which the report dutifully notes cannot change “officially”) is to wipe Israel off the face of the map. Pretty interesting verbal chicanery there, isn’t it?

Here are some of the things that put the word “terrorist” into Hamas (there are plenty more this is just a sampling):

  • March 9, 2002: Eleven people were killed and 54 injured, 10 of them seriously, when a suicide bomber exploded at in a crowded cafe at the corner of Aza and Ben-Maimon streets in the Rehavia neighborhood in the center of Jerusalem. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.
  • March 7, 2002: Aharon Krogliak of Beit El, Tal Kurtzweil of Bnei Brak, Asher Marcus of Jerusalem, Eran Pikar of Jerusalem, and Ariel Zana of Jerusalem, all aged 18, were killed and 23 people were injured, four seriously, when a Palestinian gunman penetrated a highschool that combines religious studies and military training in the Gush Katif settlement of Atzmona late Thursday night. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.
  • March 5, 2002: Palestinians fired two Kassam II rockets at the city of Sderot shortly before 18:00 PM on Tuesday. One of the rockets hit a residential building, moderately wounding a 16-month-old infant. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.
  • February 10, 2002: A drive-by terrorist shooting at the entrance to the IDF Southern Command base in Be’er Sheva killed two female soldiers and injured four others. One of the Palestinian terrorists was killed at the scene; the second, wearing an explosives belt, fled in the direction of a nearby school when he was shot and killed by a soldier and police officer. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.
  • December 2, 2001: A suicide bombing on a No. 16 Egged bus in Haifa killed 15 people and injured about 40 people. Hamas claimed responsibility for the Haifa blast, while Hizbullah’s radio and television stations expressed support for the attacks.
  • December 1, 2001: A double suicide bombing at the Ben-Yehuda pedestrian mall in Jerusalem at 11:30 p.m. on a Saturday night killed 11 people, aged 12-21, and injured 188 people. A car bomb exploded 20 minutes later. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.
Your tax dollars at work!

Your tax dollars at work!

So what about the other “important works” of the United States Institute of Peace? According to Daniel Pipes, a man whom former President George W. Bush appointed to their Board of Directors (along with Daniel Simpson) published this article in 2004 in the New York Sun:

Last week, I became a whistleblower. (According to Merriam-Webster, a whistleblower is someone “who reveals wrongdoing within an organization to the public or to those in positions of authority.”)

This is not a role I expected or sought, but I felt compelled to go public when the U.S. Institute of Peace, in Washington, D.C., the taxpayer-funded organization to whose board President Bush appointed me, insisted on co-hosting an event with a group closely associated with radical Islam.

That group is the Washington-based Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy; the event was a workshop that took place — over my strenuous objections — on March 19.

Most of CSID’s Muslim personnel are radicals. I brought one such person in particular, Kamran Bokhari, to the attention of USIP’s leadership. Mr. Bokhari is a fellow at CSID; as such, he is someone CSID’s board of directors deems an expert “with high integrity and a good reputation.” As a fellow, Mr. Bokhari may participate in the election of CSID’s board of directors. He is, in short, integral to the CSID.

Mr. Bokhari also happens to have served for years as the North American spokesman for Al-Muhajiroun, perhaps the most extreme Islamist group operating in the West. For example, it celebrated the first anniversary of 9/11 with a conference titled,” Towering Day in History.” It celebrated the second anniversary by hailing “The Magnificent 19.” Its Web site currently features a picture of the U.S. Capitol building exploding. (If the site changes, an archived copy is available.)

According to a June 1, 2009 story on this organization:

The radical Islamist group Al-Muhajiroun has announced that it plans to relaunch in the UK. The group claimed to have disbanded in 2004. Since then it has periodically resurfaced under various names including the Savior Sect, the Saved Sect, Ahl ul-Sunnah Wa al-Jamma and the Association for Islamic Research [see, http://www.pipelinenews.org/2008/Al-Muhajiroun-Resurfaces-In-London-Under-Guise-Of-Association.html].

Al Muhajiroun founder Omar Bakri Mohammed fled the UK for Lebanon after the July 2005 London bombings which were linked to his organization.

In 2000, al-Muhajiroun claims to have recruited hundreds of young British Muslims to wage jihad in Kashmir, Chechnya and Afghanistan. The organization was banned under Brit terrorism laws. Omar Bakri is believed to still be living in Lebanon where he is suspected to have trained al-Qaeda operatives.

According to a story on the United States Institute of Peace’s own website:

National American Muslim organizations like MPAC, CAIR, ISNA, and AMA have focused on violence and religious extremism as critical issues with local and international strategies. MPAC’s “National Grassroots Campaign to Fight Terrorism” and CAIR’s “Not in the Name of Islam” efforts are examples of American Muslims’ innovative programs to raise awareness on issues of radical ideologies. The coordination of their efforts with those of law enforcement agencies demonstrates mutual recognition of the roles each group plays in conflict prevention.

So what about these organizations?

On MPAC we have this tidbet:

On October 28, 2000, MPAC was a cosponsor of a rally in Washington DC in support of the recent spate of violence known as the Al-Aqsa intifada between the Palestinians and the Israelis. (This was the rally at which the American Muslim Council’s Abdulrahman Alamoudi exhorted the crowd to voice their support for the Hamas and Hizballah terrorist organizations.) During these exhortations, MPAC’s Political Advisor, Mahdi Bray, stood directly behind Alamoudi and was seen jubilantly exclaiming his support for these two deadly terrorist organizations. Dr. Maher Hathout, MPAC’s Senior Advisor, also participated in this rally. Later, in an article in The American Muslim, rather than condemning the rally for its extremist and militant views, Hathout heralded the rally as a marker of a “new era.”

Former members of CAIR, associated with the USIP

Former members of CAIR, associated with the USIP

On CAIR we have this information:

CAIR consistently defends other militant Islamic terrorists too. The conviction of the perpetrators of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing it deemed “a travesty of justice.” The conviction of Omar Abdel Rahman, the blind sheikh who planned to blow up New York City landmarks, it called a “hate crime.” The extradition order for suspected Hamas terrorist Mousa Abu Marook it labeled “anti-Islamic” and “anti-American.”

Not surprisingly, CAIR also backs those who finance terrorism. When President Bush closed the Holy Land Foundation in December for collecting money he said was “used to support the Hamas terror organization,” CAIR decried his action as “unjust” and “disturbing.”

Looking into ISNA we learn:

The government is merely claiming that evidence exists that ISNA and NAIT have sufficient ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood – HLF - that justify the groups’ inclusion on a list of un-indicted co-conspirators, which enables prosecutors to more easily enter into evidence information which shows the scope of HLF’s pro-Hamas operations.

That is NAIT/ISNA money going to a top Hamas official, his wife, and a university controlled by Hamas. So the lawyers for ISNA and NAIT are admitting that both groups supported Hamas financially in the late 80’s and early 90’s, which, at a minimum, destroys ISNA’s contention that the group has no ties to Hamas, let alone the Muslim Brotherhood.

Finally, research into the AMA shows:

AMA leaders often appear with individuals and organizations that support terrorist organizations. AMA’s president, Agha Saeed, has appeared at lectures and events sponsored by Hamas-associated organizations and and attended by Hamas supporters.

The AMA also donated $50,000.00 to Senator Hillary Clinton’s campaign but when it was reported that the group had ties to terrorist organizations, she returned the money.

One has to wonder… looking at all of this evidence why this entity is funded by U.S. taxpayers and why Mr. Simpson would sit on their Board of Directors? And why isn’t our fair press writing about this?

What sort of insidious root grows in our society that organizations like this are able to gain funding, a platform, and acceptance?

Five Terror Plots Show How al Qaeda Sees Obama's Weakness

For years the mantra of the Left was that continuing to fight in Iraq would embolden terrorists and that reversing Bush-era policies would help ease al Qaeda's 'concerns.' Guantanamo Bay prison is on its way to being closed. Fighting has nearly ceased in Iraq and troops are being pulled out. Obama lauded the Muslim world in a Cairo speech.

And in less than a month, five possible plots to attack the United States have been uncovered.

The most famous was the case of Najibullah Zazi and his al Qaeda-linked cell. These alleged terrorists were planning possible attacks on the New York City subway and perhaps on other targets. Even though Zazi is in custody, his cell might still be seeking to attack.

Next, a Jordanian man was arrested after attempting to plant what he thought was a car bomb in downtown Dallas. I hope that this becomes big news, cause it sure is scary. This car bomb, by the way, was placed at the base of a 60-story skyscraper.

Next we have suspicious men possibly casing a Philadelphia subway. This is also scary news, as the men have fled.

And two of the seven men accused of trying to go overseas to help fight a jihad against the United States were attempting to launch an attack in Virginia. They were planning to attack a Marine base, and it sure sounds scary:

It offered no details, except to say that Boyd had undertaken reconnaissance of Quantico and obtained maps of the base in order to plan the attack.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Boyd also possessed armor piercing ammunition, and had stated that it was "to attack the Americans."

Last, we have a man held today for attempting to blow up a federal building in Chicago. The man was a convert to Islam and would have launched an imminent attack:

He was introduced to an undercover FBI agent who began working with him to plot an attack, but Finton was repeatedly told he could walk away at any time, according to the Justice Department.

Eventually, Finton picked the federal building in Springfield as the target and on Wednesday he parked a van he believed carried one ton of explosives at the location, the complaint said.

Obama's weakness on foreign affairs has already damaged this country. And now not one, but five separate attempts to murder Americans have been uncovered in short succession. If terrorists really believed that the United States was now a peaceful utopia, why would they be planning new massacres.

President Obama, listen up: you must deal with these people. Drop bombs on them or shoot them. Al Qaeda cannot be quenched without American and Jewish blood. Take them out before they take us out.

We Should be Ashamed

Exactly eight years ago to the minute, hundreds of people were dying.

Scotland Plays Joke on Lockerbie Bomber, Explodes His Plane Mid-Flight

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND
August 20, 2009

Scottish officials are in stiches over what has been called "one of the greatest ironic jokes in all of human history. Public outrage was pouring in from around the world over the decision by a high court to release the Lockerbie bomber, Abdel Baset al-Megrahi. Megrahi was convicted of masterminding the 1988 airline bombing which killed over 200 people.

It was revealed Thursday that as the bomber was released due to "compassionate" grounds, his flight mysteriously disappeared off of radar. Scottish officials tell news organizations that Megrahi was the only passenger on the flight, which was remotely controlled.

"What we imagine is that about halfway through the flight, Megrahi realized that he was the only one on board. As he ran to the cockpit, all he saw was a plastic blow-up doll, vis-a-vis Airplane! Scared shitless by this point, he likely looked out his window to see his homeland Libya coming into sight.

"As this happened, klaxons began blaring and red lights flashed in his face. The in-flight movie display then flashed "Suck it, terrorist douche" and the plane exploded. We can only hope that this was within visible range of his family who was waiting for him to arrive."

Reactions to this revelation have been overwhelmingly positive. Called "better than an April fool's joke" by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the tape of the explosion will be placed on next week's Britain's Funniest Home Videos.

Even Libyan dictator Muommar Qaddafi said that the irony was "spot on" and that this was "one of the best civilian plane explosions I've ever seen." When reminded that Megrahi was a Libyan citizen, Qaddafi stated, "He was a terrorist. Why wouldn't he expect to be a suicide bomber?"

Megrahi's death will not be mourned by many, although his son Ahmed said, "At least he died the way he lived."

Remember 7/7

Four years ago today, cowardly terrorists aligned with al Qaeda assaulted Great Britain in a coordinated strike on mass transit. Using four suicide bombers, the terrorists were able to kill over 50 and wound many more.

Two weeks later came more attempted attacks on other targets in the capital, which fortunately did not succeed. Prime Minister Tony Blair showed courage and resolve after both attacks.

Terrorists and their allies believe that they have a reason to strike at the democratic nations of the world. Many, including Britain and Spain, were at the forefront of the War on Terrorism. Terrorists intended to knock them out by assaulting civilians and having the government (not the terrorists themselves) be blamed. Spain pulled its troops out of Iraq after the Madrid bombings on March 11, 2004.

To Londoners and British credit, the UK has stayed steadfast against extremism and stands shoulder to shoulder with the United States and democracy.

Thank you Britain.
May the dead and their loved ones find peace.

US Considering Dropping Charges Against bin Laden

Conservative News and Reporting
"News for the Rest of Us."
Geoffrey Likeson

According to sources in the Justice Department, the Obama Administration is pushing for the reversal of charges levied against purported al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden is under indictment from U.S. courts for his roles in the bombings of American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, as well as the September 11, 2001 attacks.

This move comes as new Attorney General Eric Holder is promising a more "fair and open" Justice Department. Holder is the first African-American Attorney General and is a close confidant of the President.

According to a draft report circulating at the DOJ, Holder has asked that the charges against bin Laden and deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri be "suspended" until the time of their capture or death. Effectively, this would drop all charges against the two.

It is unknown if the President himself has pushed for these changes, but it is noted that such a public reversal could not happen without the White House's explicit approval.

The cause for this change of policy is not clear, but aligns closely with the changes that the Obama Administration has taken to reverse Bush-era "mistakes." It is speculated that the changes could be used to lessen international disapproval of American actions in Afghanistan. In addition, this could lead to a permanent suspension of the charges if bin Laden were to promise not to engage in terrorism.

It has been argued that if the charges are dropped against the al Qaeda members, then the United States technically has no right to apprehend or harm the two if they were ever found. James Fortright, a Constitutional scholar at George Washington University states that as long as there is no warrant for an arrest, the government is almost powerless.

"Without a warrant, you have to catch them in the act." Fortright stated in an email interview, "This would mean that if we located them, we could not touch them until a terrorist attack was already underway."

These changes are under the jurisdiction of the White House once approved by the Attorney General. When these actions will take place is unknown, but will likely be done by the end of the year.
