Should Conservatives forgive, forget and fight for Anh Cao?

Let's be honest.

All we need this November is to win 39 currently Democratic controlled seats in order to install John Boehner as the new Speaker of the House, as well as to hold on to what few vulnerable Republican seats are out there.

Among those we need to retain in order to reach the magic number of 218 is Anh Cao's seat in New Orleans, which he barely captured in 2008 when he was running against Representative William "cold cash" Jefferson, who is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence over those same corruption charges that Cao beat him over.

Anh "Joseph" Cao - 33,132 - 49.58%.
Rep. Bill Jefferson - 31,318 - 46.83%.
Other Candidates - 02,432 - 03.64%.

Since his amazing upset victory in a district that supported Barack Obama with 73% of it's inner-city vote just a few weeks before the runoff election, Congressman Cao has voted with Party leaders 82% of the time. Though he did cause much anguish when he initially voted for Obama's health care package last November, basing his vote solely on abortion coverage within the legislation, which led him to later oppose* the legislation in it's second trip through the House.

So do we bury the hatchet with Mr.Cao, or do we focus on gaining 40 Democratic seats instead of 39? Here's a sample of Cao's voting record on some of the more well known legislative items that have come before the House over the past 20 months (keep in mind his district voted for Obama with 73% of the vote):

Here's what we know about Mr.Cao: He supports the Military and our War on Terror, he's very pro-life, his record on economic issues is mixed, and he'll be a definite vote for John Boehner for House Speaker. Not the record of Eric Cantor, but still acceptable for a man from a district that is almost as Democratic as Nancy Pelosi's.

I forgive Mr.Cao for his initial support of ObamaCare, I've forgotten some of his liberal stances, and I will fight for Anh Cao to win reelection against his just nominated Liberal Democrat opponent this October. What about you?

Alabama doesn't change.

I knew there was a reason I've always wanted to visit Alabama, and I believe that reason has been found - their consistent Conservatives who do not ever change. According to a new Rasmussen Reports poll, nearly the exact same amount of Alabama voters feel the same way now in 2010, than they did in 2008 about President Barack Obama.

2008 US Presidential Election:

McCain - 60.32%
Obama - 38.74%
Others - 01.96%

2010 US Presidential approval:

Disapprove - 60%
Approve - 39%
Not Sure - 2%

In a world that is lacking consistency, Alabama could teach us all a thing or two. Also, according to that same poll, Senator Shelby will be reelected with relative ease in November, and close to 70% of the state's voting population favor a complete repeal of Obamacare, while 26% don't and 5% are unsure.

New High for Repeal of ObamaCare

Those supporting a repeal of the recently passed health care legislation has reached a new high, with 63% of likely voters wanting the new laws yanked. This comes from a new Rasmussen poll out today, showing more and more Americans out of step with the Administration (or, rather, the other way around.)

Prior to today, weekly polling had shown support for repeal ranging from 54% to 58%.
Currently, just 32% oppose repeal.
The new findings include 46% who Strongly Favor repeal of the health care bill and 25% who Strongly Oppose it.

 Furthermore, 55% of those polled believe that the new act would raise the price of health care. For example, New York State mandated that all drivers must have valid car insurance-- since they've done that, New York's car insurance rates are one of the highest in the country because the insurance companies know that you have no choice. Let's see what happens when the provisions of the health care bill come on line.

So where did this extra opposition come from? Likely, it came from seeing the large troubles in Europe, where out of control spending has caused that entire continent to stare into the abyss of financial collapse. Greece's rich social welfare system has nearly bankrupted that country-- partially due to its "free" health care.

More Good News: Insurance Costs Up 17% Due to Mandatory Purchasing

Some more just perfect news coming in the wake of the passage of the ObamaCare law last week. Apparently it turns out that by forcing people to purchase things they don't want from a limited pool actually increases the cost of the item. In this case, it's expected to raise health care insurance by 17% in four years when it becomes mandatory for all adults to purchase insurance.

Now, I thought that the mantra was that the law would not increase the cost of either health care or insurance. Now that it's not even fully implemented yet we're looking at an increase of 17%!? And that's just the beginning of the new regulations. Just wait until later when there are more restrictions on the health insurance industry and much higher demand.

The higher costs will pinch many people in their 20s and early 30s who are struggling to start or advance their careers at a time when the unemployment rate is at a 26-year high.

In addition, think of it this way. New York requires all drivers to have car insurance. The result? New York has some of the highest car insurance rates in the country. And if that's the case in just one of fifty states, just wait till this kicks in.

Pat Sajak Slams 'Racist' Baiters

Pat Sajak, the host of the Wheel of Fortune has written a column in Human Events slamming those who would call opponents of ObamaCare racist:

So that’s it. It’s just a bunch of scared, white males who would yelp about anything this gang came up with. As Rich makes clear, this is merely a replay of the opposition to the Voting Rights Act of 1964. You get it? If you express opposition to the bill, you’re a racist, sexist homophobe.

Mr. Rich is shocked by the level of anger in the land, and he fears for the safety of our elected officials, much as I’m sure he did during the George W. Bush administration. He calls on Republican leaders to distance themselves from the more radical voices among them, echoing the demands I’m sure he made of the Democrats during the last campaign.

Actually, on the whole this article is pretty awesome. Glad to see Mr. Sajak being right on the money, or more likely, right on the fortune.

Senators opposed to Harry Reid/Obamacare "government option".

According to personal research, following the news, and the latest information coming out of the health care debate from the United States Senate, Senate Republicans do have enough votes to stop the "government" option in the United States Senate.

As of now, all 40 Republicans in the United States Senate (even Senator Snowe) oppose the Harry Reid/Obamacare "government option" health care plan which is currently being proposed, along with all 40 Republicans, Senator Lieberman of Connecticut has also come out against the government option this afternoon, and he will support Republican attempts to filibuster the legislation.

While there has been much discussion over Senator Lieberman's position in the health care debate, he has for the most part been on our side, as he also opposes the Baucus bill which currently awaits in the United States Senate, opposed Harry Reid's "doctor buy-off" scheme in the Senate, and even questioned the need for a "public option" several months ago (Note : he now opposes the public option/government option 100%).

Now we have 41 against the current health care proposal in the United States Senate, it is also possible we could pick up Senators Nelson & Lincoln in opposition to this legislation as well, however, you never know what is going to happen, hopefully we can stop all of the Democratic health care proposals once and for all.

While we are fighting a battle seriously outnumbered in both houses of Congress, I have a good feeling about defeating the Democratic efforts to destroy the greatest health care system in the world. God Bless the Congressional Republicans who have done an awesome job opposing this legislation, hopefully we can back them up next November and pass real health care reform, based in Freedom & Capitalism.
