Malloy Beats Lamont in CT

Ned Lamont, the netroots millionaire who took on Senator Joe Lieberman in the Connecticut Senate race four years ago has lost another pivotal battle in his attempt at a political career. With 96% of the precincts in Lamont lost to Dan Malloy by 16%:

Malloy: 58%
Lamont: 42%

This was despite Lamont putting massive amounts of cash in and running as a "moderate" despite running as a raging leftist in 2006. Malloy isn't too much better, but he isn't as much of a tool as Lamont.

Blumenthal Up by 25%?

Coming after the New York Times story that Connecticut Democratic Senatorial Candidate Richard Blumenthal lied about serving in the Vietnam War, apparently a new Quinnipiac poll places him ahead by a staggering 25%. I know that it's Connecticut and that Democratic voters aren't exactly the most logical types, but this is stupefying.

And it also comes a week after a Rasmussen poll had Blumenthal up by only three.

So who are we to believe? Are we ready to accept that the people of Connecticut, which was almost so stupid as to put Ned Lamont in the Senate is now willing to accept Blumenthal there?

Blumenthal: 56%
McMahon: 31%

And of course the kicker is that 61% of those polled said that the Vietnam revelation wouldn't affect their vote.

Huh?

You Know It's Bad When Chris Matthews Turns on You

Even Chris Matthews has turned on Connecticut Democratic Senatorial candidate Blumenthal, who lied about serving in Vietnam.

Oh, snap.

CT Democratic Senate Candidate Lied About Vietnam Service

A very big hat tip to Hot Air, who turned us on to this astounding story. Even more astounding is that the New York Times broke the story. Blumenthal is looking to succeed the disgraced Democratic Senator Chris Dodd-- and now Blumenthal is looking like an uncertainty in November.

But apparently he's been claiming that he had served in Vietnam in the Marine Corps, but in fact did not even go there.

The New Haven Register on July 20, 2006, described him as “a veteran of the Vietnam War,” and on April 6, 2007, said that the attorney general had “served in the Marines in Vietnam.” On May 26, 2009, The Connecticut Post, a Bridgeport newspaper that is the state’s third-largest daily, described Mr. Blumenthal as “a Vietnam veteran.” The Shelton Weekly reported on May 23, 2008, that Mr. Blumenthal “was met with applause when he spoke about his experience as a Marine sergeant in Vietnam.”

Wow. That's pretty damning. This may unfortunately lead to nutcase Ned Lamont taking the Connecticut primary nod after he was defeated by Senator Joe Lieberman in the 2006 race. Or it could lead to a Republican bump. Too early to say right now.

Good News as Gay Marriage is Spreading

Legal gay marriage is spreading amongst the 50 states, which will hopefully lead to a federal allowance for the practice. Now in Vermont and Iowa, along with Massachusetts and Connecticut, gay marriage is finally legal.

In 2000, Vermont initiated civil unions in the United States. Three years later, Massachusetts sanctioned gay marriage, as did Connecticut last October. So the events in Iowa and Vermont were bricks laid upon an already tested foundation.

It's about time. Hopefully Congress or the Supreme Court will allow the practice nationwide.

Connecticut OKs Gay Marriage

Let me be among the first to say that it's about time. This is an example of how the right thing can be done despite a lot of criticism. Connecticut has a popular Republican governor, and hopefully the decision of the Superior Court can stand.

This comes a week after Californians rejected gay marriage. It's too bad that a state that thinks so highly of itself, like California, cannot even keep a law guaranteeing rights. Hopefully, other states in the Union will take the lead and approve the practice. Then hopefully the federal government can create a blanket legalization. However, with many Democrats against it, it may take an act of the Supreme Court.
