Thoughts on the Proposition 8 ruling from last week.

Proposition 8 was struck down in federal court last week, and as I'm sure most will figure out in this article, I was not pleased about the decision on several grounds. So I'll appreciate it if you will stick around for the entire article, and my complete thoughts on the ruling by Judge Walker.

1. Judge Walker has just ruled that 5,000 documented years of civilization, and it's position on a sacred institution we call Marriage, doesn't matter and doesn't count. It's equal to a practice that can only be described as unnatural and nontraditional, not to mention immoral.

2. Judge Walker, a single man sitting on the Judiciary, has just overruled the votes of 7,001,084 American Citizens during a Constitutional and legitimate referendum in the state of California. If there was ever a case where the Judiciary held too much power over the common man, this is it.

3. This ruling represents the second time that the Citizens of California have had their voices silenced, and their will openly ignored on one of the most culturally significant issues of our human existence by activist judges and politicians.

4. President George H. W. Bush has now had the honour of Nominating two horrendous Judges to the federal judiciary. His record as an Republican President on this subject can only be matched by Richard Nixon, and that's saying something.

5. With this ruling, the original purpose of the 14th Amendment, which was passed to protect the rights and freedoms of our newly freed Black citizenry has been distorted to cover issues that no one could ever imagine would have happened back in the 1800's. Issues that were reserved only for the states.

Any thoughts on my thoughts?

The PCUSA should read the Bible.

The Presbyterian Church of the United States of America obviously hasn't read the Old or the New Testament in the Bible, because the Church just voted to allow homosexual's to become Clergy within the Church; a measure no true Christian denomination would ever adopt.

Whether you believe in homosexual marriage or not, one must admit that such relationships are against the teachings of the Christian Bible, and for a supposedly Christian Church to adopt such a notion, is secularist and immoral - just 47% of PCUSA delegates agree, and only 51% of PCUSA delegates stood for traditional marriage in a separate vote yesterday.

I feel sick.

Also, on another note - the PCUSA is the anti-Semite Church of the United States of America, so it doesn't surprise me that they disregard the Bible on marriage, when they disregard the people of God (Jews), and the Nation of God (Israel).

Oy Vey.

So: does it surprise anyone else that PCUSA membership continues to decline on a yearly basis?

Letter to the citizens of Hawaii.

To the citizens of Hawaii's first congressional district:

Aloha.

I must first admit something: I am not a citizen of Hawaii, I have never visited Hawaii, and I have no relations in Hawaii, but I am a fellow American citizen who has been following your special election with great interest. Your special election will not only impact Hawaii's political foundations, but it could shake up the entire United States House of Representatives.

When it was first announced that Congressman Abercrombie was stepping down, I was optimistic and hopeful for whomever the eventual Republican nominee would be. But, when I read into the political record of Councilman Djou, he won me over on a silver platter, because this man is not just a fine Republican, but he's also a fine Representative.

Whether it be in the Hawaii House of Representatives or the Honolulu City Council; Charles Djou has fought for his fellow citizens. Mr.Djou has fought political and social corruption, something he feels very strongly about. Mr.Djou would also be someone quite unique in America's Democratic controlled Congress - an Independent thinker.

Charles Djou doesn't pander for votes, he has remained committed to his principles and values through out this entire election. Such as his firm commitment to traditional marriage between one man and one woman. Unlike his two opponents, who both accept the homosexual notion of marriage in one way or another.

With all of the above in mind: I ask that the citizens of Hawaii, who will soon receive their mail-in-ballots, vote for Charles Djou, a man of the Hawaiian people. He will stand strong in Congress for our common values, and he will legislate as an Independent thinker, who will fight for a better and stronger Hawaii and America.

- A Concerned Conservative.

The GOP Should Welcome Gays

The Conservative movement may actually be moving to accept homosexuals, a move that I wholeheartedly support. Gays are caught in the middle right now-- President Obama is against gay marriage and some conservatives, like Dick Cheney are supporting it.

Married gays with adopted kids will likely settle down. Where? Rural or suburban areas. What happens when working married people with kids move to rural or suburban areas? That's right, they become Republicans. Settled gays are more likely to be conservative-- just from a political point of view we need to support this.

But there was some more good news from CPAC:

Good News as Gay Marriage is Spreading

Legal gay marriage is spreading amongst the 50 states, which will hopefully lead to a federal allowance for the practice. Now in Vermont and Iowa, along with Massachusetts and Connecticut, gay marriage is finally legal.

In 2000, Vermont initiated civil unions in the United States. Three years later, Massachusetts sanctioned gay marriage, as did Connecticut last October. So the events in Iowa and Vermont were bricks laid upon an already tested foundation.

It's about time. Hopefully Congress or the Supreme Court will allow the practice nationwide.

Gay Marriage Ban Ruled Unconstitutional

The Iowa Supreme Court has ruled that a law banning same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. This is a victory for those that stand for equal rights and for the rights of gay Americans. This ruling may make the state the third to make the practice legal, after Massachusetts and Connecticut.

The Supreme Court of the United States should step into the fray and create a nation-wide ruling, deeming attempts to outlaw gay marriage illegal. This is a national issue, not a states-rights one, and the federal government needs to step up for the rights of all Americans.

President Obama should also call for the nation-wide legalization of the practice. Unfortunately, either core religious beliefs or cowardly political considerations prevent him from doing so. We need a President that will stand up for rights and make sure that politics or antiquated religious beliefs do not overshadow basic logic and the right thing to do.

Obama Hypocritical on Gay Marriage

President Barack Obama upset a lot of people by coming out and opposing gay marriage. Thanks to his arch-religious views, he may never change his mind. But has he already.

But before we go any further, I need to place a disclaimer. I, the author of this article, do hereby support gay marriage and the legalization thereof. I support it the be ratified by the United States Congress to apply to all fifty states. The rights of legally consenting adults to marry should not be infringed upon, in fact it should be encouraged. I even wrote an article about it if you need proof.

That's one reason I have a problem with Obama. This guy states how he not only wants change, but positive change. What better positive change is to let millions of Americans decide their own destinies? But no, Obama is holding fast to his arcane religious fundamentalism. Hell, even Dick Cheney supports gay marriage. But Mr. Change? No.

He backed the practice back when he was a State Senator. Maybe that's before the Bible told him not to. Or maybe that's before he needed to craft a great image for himself to become President. This is a terrible act of a very smart politician.

President Obama needs to reverse course and stand up for gay rights... if he has the courage, that is. He states that he will fight for the right cause even if it's unpopular. Well, gay marriage is the right cause, and it's unpopular. Should be perfect for the guy whose scruples are better than Lincoln's.

If not, he's just another politician with a trail of broken promises.

Connecticut OKs Gay Marriage

Let me be among the first to say that it's about time. This is an example of how the right thing can be done despite a lot of criticism. Connecticut has a popular Republican governor, and hopefully the decision of the Superior Court can stand.

This comes a week after Californians rejected gay marriage. It's too bad that a state that thinks so highly of itself, like California, cannot even keep a law guaranteeing rights. Hopefully, other states in the Union will take the lead and approve the practice. Then hopefully the federal government can create a blanket legalization. However, with many Democrats against it, it may take an act of the Supreme Court.

Why Republicans Should Support Gay Marriage

One of the problems with the modern Republican Party (the party I belong to) is a stubborn refusal to back gay marriage. The few Republicans that do (Rudy Giuliani) are spoken of as hippy liberals.

The Republican Party has framed itself as a party that supports individual decision-making. Well, gay marriage falls under that. The Republican Party frames itself as traditional. Well, it seems like homosexuality has been around forever and has been practiced in every society, so how much more traditional can you get?

I know that a lot of people frame this in a religious context. Now, injecting religion into politics is very dicey for me. However, there is nothing in the New Testament that bans homosexual relationships. The Libertarian wing of the party supports individual freedoms, but many of these same people feel that gay marriage will damage 'traditional marriage.' Divorce rates are over 50%. Can gay folks do worse than straight folks on this? If gay people are able to build stable families with kids and be homeowners, isn't that good for America? Besides, married people with kids that own houses tend to be overwhelmingly Republican anyway.

The Republican Party in the last eight years has stood up for the little guy abroad. Why not do the same at home?
