Rossi leads Murray in Washington by 7%.

I knew that Washington's Primary results on Tuesday meant Mr.Rossi was on the correct path, but I didn't know he was actually on a winning path this early in the general election. 90% of all Republican voters support his campaign, along with about 60% of Independents - that is simply amazing to see in a state like Washington. We have to remember that Rossi virtually won the Governor's race in 2004 and still has a high level of support and credibility in this Pacific Northwest state.

Defeating Senator Murray is no longer a question of maybe, but by how much. Especially when you consider that her campaign is trailing to Dino Rossi among voters aged 18-49, a crucial bloc of votes in a state where 52% of voters are under the age of 50. Also, Mr.Rossi leads both voters who have graduated college (51%), and who have not graduated from college (49%).

George Washington Owes Somebody $300k

Man, considering he's been dead for 211 years I can only imagine how much his bill will rise to when he is forced to pay those ObamaCare costs. But apparently a British paper has found that the nation's first President has racked up a $300,000 tab on two overdue library books. I just hope that they don't dig him up to shake him for it, mafia-style.Just add it on to the national debt!

The former president, who died in December 1799, borrowed two books from what was then the only library in Manhattan – "Law of Nations," a dissertation on international relations, and a volume of debate transcripts from Britain's House of Commons. 

Must have been too busy, you know, making America awesome.

Guess Who's Less Popular than Bush?

For all of the talk about Obama being a very popular President, it appears that the message is off track. With Obama's job approval rating tanking due to the health care message flailing, we must inevitably compare him to his predecessor. And when we take a look at the 'much hated' George W. Bush we find something very, very peculiar.

Obama is well behind.

When you take a look at the Real Clear Politics approval index, he trails the former President by thirteen points. Reminds me of a post that Tim wrote. Considering that Bush was elected with less than 50% of the vote in a contested election, this should be a shot across the bow for the Obama Administration. It reveals some of their limitations.

1. Obama drives up the 'strongly disapprove' column. He's been angering many on the right and center, driving up the deficit and calling for more state control. Bush's policies early in his adminstration painted him towards the center, including No Child Left Behind and approval stem cell funding.

2. Obama is hanging on to his image. Rather than actually building an effective policy resume, Obama is simply just seen as a caricature of a President. The pop culture image of him being 'cool' still permeates, and he might have to hold onto the approval of 18-29 year olds for any sort of sanctuary.

Obama's in trouble. We'll see how much in a few months.
