Yes, Dick Cheney. For some reason he is regarded in the realms of pop culture as a pure villain, torturing innocent people and pushing for the meat-grinderization of small children. However, if you actually look at his record he's extremely smart and supports 'liberal' policies like gay marriage.
And he's been leading the charge in legitimate criticism of the new Administration. He's not pushing for the crazed birther claims or calling President Obama a Nazi. Instead, he's using facts to try and persuade a skeptical American people-- all while battling the media!
And so we have to look at Cheney's latest triumph. It appears that the former Vice President has embarrassed the Obama Administration to show that actions taken after the September 11th atrocities defended American and saved civilian lives.
The release of confidential documents have shown that the Bush Administration put saving American lives first. They were even pretty good at it. And all of the documents aren't even out yet. Just wait until we see the results of waterboarding Khalid Sheik Mohammed.
And even if it didn't work, at least the guy suffered for this.
Dick, if you were 10 years younger, I'd say run for something, then I'd support you in 2012. I know it's not cool, but there's nothing cooler than living on the edge.

Obama's Changing the Subject Threatens American Unity
President Barack Obama has taken a beating politically over the last month. Controversy over the handling of the Professor Gates situation, coupled with the public relations fiasco relating to the health care reform bill has sunk his poll numbers. Zogby even had the President at 45% last week.
And so with the primary messages not working, it appears that the White House is trying to change the message. The President and the First Family are on vacation, so Obama will be out of the spotlight. So that's why Eric Holder is replacing his image with... George W. Bush.
That's why the new investigations over CIA abuses are making the headlines. The President's out of Washington and something else needs to fill the media vacuum.
Well, there's a few problems with the new "investigation."
1. Since they were legally authorized, the actions of the CIA are, and were, considered legal.
2. All of the issues relating to these incidents have been over for at least five years.
3. The President promised not to do this.
4. The techniques were only used on three terrorists, and were not systematic.
5. George W. Bush isn't President anymore.
These "enhanced interrogation" techniques are and were wrong, but I'm not going to cry if Khalid Sheik Mohammed was told that his kids would be killed if 10,000 more Americans died. I'm more concerned with the prospect of al Qaeda massacring civilians than a lie told to the guy who plotted the September 11th atrocities.
Another problem with the investigation is that much of the information is not based from CIA, FBI, or Washington sources. Much of it is from testimony of al Qaeda murderers. Keep in mind that Saddam Hussein also claimed that he was tortured, while the guy was chowing down on Doritos.
So what's next. A couple of things. But let me tell you that one of them is that this investigation will not go anywhere. This is not a serious attempt to bring former Bush officials "to justice." This is just an attempt to get the media to focus on something other than the current President right now and hope that pop culture can re-foster that "Obama is awesome" message.
Another thing that will happen is that the investigations will polarize Americans. A majority of people don't support this action, and will leave Republicans angry. Now, that doesn't matter compared to who else it'll piss off: independents. Independents, especially conservative and libertarian ones, may have voted for Obama because of his "transcendent" message. Now these same voters see Obama not healing divisions, but exploiting them.
The President and his staff must think that they're pulling a fast one, but if the President and Rahm Emanuel would spend less time pulling it and more time plotting how to help our country, we'd be in a world of awesome.

When Three Terrorists Were Waterboarded, Obama Raised Hell. In Iran, Protesters Against a Rigged Election are Tortured to Death. Obama's Response: Uhh
Something that I saw on BBC that really pisses me off if that an unspecified amount of people who protested against the rigged 'elections' in Iran two months ago were apparently tortured to death by security forces. Even worse, both males and females who opposed the regime were systematically raped.
The opposition has claimed, and probably correctly, that at least 69 people have been killed by the Iranian government for protesting the 'election' results. In addition, over 100 political prisoners are being held and could be put to death.
Candidate and President Obama went out of his way to apologize that the United States waterboarded three terrorists. Yes, it's torture, and it's bad, but these people included an operations chief and the man who planned out the September 11th, 2001 attacks which killed almost 3,000 people. Quite frankly, if I was in a room with Khalid Mohammed, waterboarding would be the least of that fuckwit's worries.
Obama also torturously blamed the United States for the Guantanamo Bay terrorist holding facility. For years the whining about 'torture' by the US reached a fevered pitch by many on the Left. Now that true torture, including murder, rape, and politcal prisoners, is occuring... where's Obama?
Is he on a flight to the Mideast to discuss with regional leaders the illitimacy of the Iranian theocracy? No. Is he meeting with allies to discuss the nuclear weapons program? No. For a guy who supposedly stands against torture and for treating allies well, he's doing a really, really poor job of it.
Obama: get out a book and learn something about Iran. If I have to hear you say that the proud 'Arab' people of Iran.... and how it's all America's fault while innocent people are getting raped and tortured to death by terrorist fundamentalists, I think I'm going to vomit.

Pelosi on Torture Briefings: Blame Bush
In the press conference that was held by Nancy Pelosi, she made her stance on whether she was briefed on torture: it doesn't matter, because the Bush administration lied. Okay, she unequivocally stated that she was briefed on torture, and stated that she was later informed that waterboarding was being used, even though she said she was never told about either. But it's okay, she says, the CIA, Bush Administration, and Republicans in Congress have all conspired against her and are liars.
When asked if Pelosi should have done anything, or regretted doing nothing, Pelosi responded "No." She continued that even if she had done something, it wouldn't have mattered because the Bush administration lied about WMDs. So, either way, she's trying to keep herself blameless.
So, can you follow Pelosi's train of thought?
Did you know about torture, Mrs. Pelosi? Yes, but it was Bush's fault.
Were you informed about waterboarding? Yes, but not during an official briefing, so its not my fault.
What about the fact that you said you had never been informed of torture? Bush lied.
That doesn't answer my question. BUSH!!!!
I wouldn't be surprised if Pelosi uses the image of President Bush to scare her grandchildren.

Cheney Flees to Denmark to Escape Prosecution

Former Vice President Richard Cheney has apparently booked a flight to Aalborg, Denmark, possibly to escape prosecution from the United States government.
According to the Vice President's daughter's friend, Cheney has allegedly taken out a lease for an apartment in the northern part of the European nation. The conservative government there has agreed not to extradite the former VP in case of prosecution.
This comes after American Attorney General Eric Holder announced on May 8 that prosecution of Cheney over "torture" allegations is still "a possibility." Cheney was reportedly alarmed that a special prosecutor was named to investigate him personally.
While President Obama has not explicitly stated that Cheney would go on trial, rumblings from the Justice Department show that Cheney would be target number one if such hearings would take place. Rumors also place former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld as next in line.
Details about Cheney's new apartment are unknown, but it is speculated that the former VP will purchase a house in the small country. His wife Lynne already owns a small farm 30 minutes northwest of the capital Copenhagen.
As for the reaction from the White House, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs simply released a statement saying, "No comment at this time."

New President Barack Obama may have opened a political can of worms by stating that his Administration may be open to the idea of investigations of George W. Bush's Administration over alleged torture tactics. In the news media and in many political circles, harsh criticisms of "waterboarding" are growing louder.
However, President Obama's admonishments appear to be at odds with one of his first acts as President. On February 13 of this year, the President, after consulting with Vice President Biden and contacts at the CIA, approved an Executive Order, which, in effect, strengthened the United States' ability to conduct 'enhanced interrogations.'
These interrogations, which are listed on the Order, can be viewed in part at the White House's website. However, much of the actual terms remain classified. However, according to the Administration, lawful interrogations include "the intentional causing of bruising ... and temporary bleeding", as well as "the application of electroshock" on detainees.
However, the White House points out that the memo also explicitly excludes waterboarding.
President Obama famously signed an Executive Order on his first day in office, calling for an end to 'enhanced interrogations.' This move was applauded by many in government and in international circles.
However, this relatively unknown Order appears to increase the ability to conduct such interrogations.
The White House insists that any questions can be answered via the official website or by the White House's press release.
