Top 5 Conservative Governors.
Ranking the Top 5 Conservative Governors was a difficult task, because most of the time you only hear about a certain few - some are promising on paper but disappointing in reality, while others are disappointing on paper but successful in reality. I have worked hard on this list, I found only eight or nine Governors worthy of mention, but only five or so are, in my opinion, "Top 5 material".
Top 5 Conservative Governors:
Honorable Mention - Governor Carcieri (Rhode Island).
5. - Governor Brewer (Arizona).
4. - Governor Christie (New Jersey).
3. - Governor Pawlently (Minnesota).
2. - Governor Barbour (Mississippi).
1. - Governor Daniels (Indiana).
(Prepare for vocal opposition in three.....two.....one.....)
Before all hell breaks lose and fellow Conservatives accuse me of putting together a fraudulent list, because Rick Perry and Bobby Jindal aren't included, please let me explain why Perry and Jindal aren't on the list:
Perry - He's accomplished nothing in 10 years. Texas doesn't need a Governor to direct their state, and it doesn't really matter which Party controls Austin; Taxes will succeed with or without an ally in the statehouse. Texas succeeding under Perry is a coincidence only.
Jindal - He's accomplished what he needed to accomplish, but it's nothing significant. Creation being taught in the classroom is good, evacuating New Orleans without serious issue was good and standing for Oil is smart, but what has he done that can be copied around the Nation?
On the other hand: Jan Brewer signed SB 1070 into law, Christie is fighting for pension reform, Tim Pawlently is the leading example of how to fight obstructionist Democrats, Barbour passed Tort reform in Mississippi of all places, and Daniels eliminated all of Indiana's debt.
Who belongs on the list, and who doesn't?

Christie Has 44% Approval in NJ
New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who is attempting to clean up the horrible mess that his state is in, is cutting the budget while refusing to raise taxes. He's received cheers from many conservative and prayers for his death from at least one teacher's union. Jerseyans are split on how he's doing:
Notice the male-female split. This would probably hurt him in the general election considering more women usually vote. He's doing an excellent job but the people there are too used to their bloated public union corruption and nanny-state bullshit.

Christie 2016?
As a proud citizen of New York State; and to a lesser extent the North East, the political arena is downright depressing for a Conservative Republican, and there is little to be pleased or enthused about. But there is this one man named Christie, who one day could become the 44th President of the United States.
Governor Christie to be exact.
While New York legislators are considering another tax hike here and there, the Massachusetts Governor is accusing Republicans of sedition, Connecticut legislators are playing online poker and Rhode Island's legislative leaders are refusing to enforce illegal immigration laws, New Jersey's highly successful newcomer Governor is saving his State from economic ruin.
Governor Chris Christie has declared that a "state of fiscal emergency exists in the State of New Jersey", has slashed government spending across the board, has freezed the New Jersey budget in several departments, has fought against the teachers union, union pensions, and certain folks who carry the unions water in the legislature.
What's not to love? Christie is a Conservative Republican Governor who governs as he promised to, and no-one escapes the wrath of Christie; whether you be a legislator, teacher or a reporter, I promise you no mercy will be given.
That's why members of the Conservative Blogosphere are thinking about a possible Christie run for President in 2016, or even 2012. While suspicion over a 2012 Presidential run is childish and downright stupid; someone with more than three years experience must be nominated (do we really want another Obama?), 2016 looks plausible, and actually exciting.
Think about it: Governor Chris Christie, the successful two term Executive from the once awful economic state of New Jersey, prepared to lead on day one, and prepared to veto on day two. It would win Republicans the White House back with 55% of the vote. Not only that, but perhaps we could win a North Eastern state or two in the process.
For now the Governor and all of his supporters (myself included) should focus on Mr.Christie's job of turning New Jersey around, and after a few more successful years, than we should think about 2016, and turning around America, hopefully before all possible hope of turning around America is gone.

Christie has gained 4.5% support in New Jersey.
Chris Christie is being called the "Jersey Reagan" by some, the "Trenton Thunder" by others, but by all positive accounts Chris Christie is doing what Garden State Governors have neglected to do for years upon years: Cut spending. Cut government. Cut unions.
There are no sacred cows in the Garden State anymore, all public officials ranging from overpaid teachers to overpaid police officers are facing the "devourer" of spending. Christie doesn't care about your race, position, creed, position, affiliation, instead he cares about the future of New Jersey, which is bleak unless serious and drastic cuts of government are made.
Conservatives are cheering on Chris Christie from around the Nation, as he could be the example for all Red Republicans in Blue States across the land, but our outsider opinion means nothing, of course it will if Christie ever runs for President, but I'm interested in what the local New Jersey citizens are thinking.
Chris Christie was elected with 48.5% of the vote last November, compared to 44.9% of the vote for his Democratic opponent, and 5.8% for an Independent candidate who failed in his attempt to screw over Christie's electoral chances. Now, according to a recent poll from Rasmussen Reports Christie is enjoying a 53% approval rating, compared to 45% who disapprove of his job, thus far into his first term.
Those approval ratings are not stunning, but the overall reaction to his spending and union cuts have been overwhelmingly positive, regardless of political affiliation. It's true that Democrats will never approve of Christie as a politician or as a Governor, but a lot of them are approving of his policies.
In the end, Christie has gained 4.5% support in New Jersey over the course of six months, even with all of the policies he has been enacting on a regular basis. It's true his approval rating has fallen from "historic highs" of 57% before he was sworn in as Governor, but I also remember the President once enjoyed 70% approval ratings...........
Christie has survived his first three months as Governor (memo to unions - Thanks for not killing Chris Christie) of New Jersey with accomplishments across the board, but we'll see in three years whether or not the voters really approve of his accomplishments. Until then, CUT! BABY! CUT!

Christie Victory in NJ Sends a Message to Obama
By now you have heard the news, Republican Chris Christie has won the race for governor in New Jersey. The race was both tight and difficult, but Christie won out over slimeball Gov. Jon Corzine. But there is more to this victory than a simple seat at the highest office in New Jersey.
For the last couple of days, President Barack Obama has been campaigning for and with Corzine. He gave speeches, he had photo ops, and even gave idiotic quotes about "selective memory." Well, as election 2009 comes to an end, it looks like the voters have selective memory too, Mr. President.
You see, regardless of Obama's cult of personality status amongst die-hards, the tides are turning for him with independents and even some Democrats. The "prestige" he lent Corzine was nothing more than a few words and a few jabs at Republicans. Corzine still lost by five percent, and imagine for a second if he didn't have the President's support.
The thing is, Christie's victory sends a message right to the White House steps. The President can no longer lull people to sleep with empty words and broken promises. He can no longer blame the Republicans for the Democrats' problems. And the cult of personality that got him into the nation's highest office is fading and losing luster as fast as he breaks campaign promises.
Congratulations, Mr. Christie, rule New Jersey well.

Christie Wins in NJ!
NBC News is calling the New Jersey Governor's Race for Republican Chris Christie. Despite the fact that Governor Corzine has poured millions of his own money in and received great support from President Obama, this is an upset. Republicans have been seen as potential winners before, but this actually was carried through.
This is so good for the people of New Jersey. First, a corrupt slimeball like Corzine is booted out. Second, an anti-corruption candidate Christie has won.

As Corzine Slips, Obama Steps In
New Jersey Jon Corzine has been called corrupt and incompetent during his tenure in the Garden State. He has presided over an untenable budget. He has recently raised taxes, attempting to balance the budget, but it appears that his move has come too late.
In exchange, the people of New Jersey appear ready to kick him out. A recent Quinnipiac poll places him behind likely Republican challenger Chris Christie 53-41. Also, Corzine's disapproval rating has hit 60%.
New Jersey, though, has a history of liking Republican candidates at first glance, then not voting for them. Take the 2006 election when corrupt incumbent Senator Robert Menendez (appointed by Corzine) beat Tom Kean, Jr., the son of a former three-term governor.
So the latest news is that the President is going to travel to the Garden State to help his ally.
So will it be enough? I don't believe that the President will have a huge impact, although it is definitely possible that many of the newly registered voters could be convinced to come out on election day, giving Corzine an "artificial" victory. By artificial, I mean that the number of informed voters would go for Christie, but a large group of uninformed new voters could vote D for the sake of it. Christie may also not show much prowess in electioneering, just as Tom Kean, Jr. did in 2006.
