Hoffman better abide by next week's decision.

Doug Hoffman's loss in November ate at the heart of Conservative activists across the Nation. It was the low-water mark in a off year election that saw Conservatism overrun two Obama backed candidacies with relative ease, Republicans win countless local elections across the Nation (especially the North East), and a strong pro-marriage victory in liberal Maine.

But that Hoffman loss still stings. What started out as an insurgent/revolt campaign against a Republican who seemed to support few Conservative ideals, turned into the "race of the year" for new and old media types, as the election shifted from Democrat Bill Owens vs. Republican Dede Scozzafava, to Democrat Bill Owens vs. Conservative Doug Hoffman.

Hoffman would end up losing by 3,500 votes, due largely to Scozzafava's name remaining on the ballot when she withdrew her candidacy the week of the vote, and her last-minute cut-throat endorsement of Bill Owens, the Democratic candidate who eventually became what we all expected him to be all along: A solid pro-Pelosi/Obama vote in Congress.

Why I am bringing this up again?

Because the Republican Nominee in New York's 23rd congressional district will be selected next Tuesday. And some individuals are concerned that if Doug Hoffman doesn't win the nomination, that he will once again run for Congress on the Conservative Party line, assuring a Bill Owens victory on election day. Something no-one wants.

If Doug Hoffman wins on Tuesday, he wins the Nomination. But if Matt Doheny (a Conservative portfolio manager) is the victor on Tuesday, he wins the Nomination. My hope is that Hoffman wins, but if he doesn't - I will not be able to support him. There is a time when men (and women) place themselves above others, for the wrong reason. And if Hoffman runs again on the Conservative Party line against the Republican Nominee, it would be for the wrong reason.

Expect Another Three-Way Race in NY-23

Some interesting news from the North Country district in New York. Last year saw the heated race between Democrat Bill Owens, Republican Dede Scozafava, and Conservative Doug Hoffman (who we interviewed at JiP.) Hoffman lost in the tight three-way race to Owens, who captured less than 50% of the vote.

Now it appears that there will be a new three-way race for the district this year, at least according to one source.

Looks like it will be a barn-burner:

Hoffman, 60, insists he still has strong support in the district, and has not lost any of his momentum from last fall. His campaign released its own poll last week of 300 likely Republican primary voters, showing Hoffman leading Doheny by 32 points, 52 percent to 20 percent.

Rob Ryan, speaking for Hoffman, said the campaign is not worried about its financial disadvantage heading into the primary. He added, “Doug Hoffman will have the resources needed to win the Republican primary. And he is the only candidate who can unite the Republican and Conservative parties and defeat Bill Owens in November.”

Unfortunately, this division will just help the incumbent. Despite NY-23 being a conservative district, it did go for Barack Obama in 2008. Having Owens running as a conservative veteran incumbent will definitely hurt the chances the GOP has to win back the seat.

Jumping in Pools Endorses Doug Hoffman

Jumping in Pools would like to make a collective endorsement in the NY-23 Congressional race. We would like to encourage all of our readers within the district to vote for Lake Placid resident and veteran Doug Hoffman. Read our interview with Mr. Hoffman here.

Now that Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava has suspended her campaign, the choice is between Hoffman and Democrat Bill Owens.

Mr. Owens is a fine candidate-- a veteran and a former businessman. However, Mr. Hoffman is the better one. Hoffman will work to reduce waste and bring accountability to Congress. He is a worthy successor to Congressman McHugh, who is now Secretary of the Army. He is not endorsed by corrupt groups like ACORN and stands for a surge in troops to win the war in Afghanistan.

Some of Hoffman's positions are not perfect. For example, he should recognize both reality and practicality and endorse gay marriage. Even Ms. Scozzafava had the good sense to do so.

As editor, I would like to give a special thanks to Mr. K for writing about this race before it became a national sensation. He gained contacts in the Hoffman campaign and even scored an excellent interview with the candidate. You could say that Mr. K is the first blogger on the national scale to pick up this race.

Scozzafava Drops Out

We have some breaking news.

NY Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, running in the race for the NY-23 Congressional district, has dropped out of the race. She was competing against Democrat Bill Owens and Conservative Doug Hoffman. Scozzafava was shown in a recent poll to have just 20% of the electorate and showed Hoffman and Owens neck-and-neck.

It has been speculated that Scozzafava will endorse her former opponent Hoffman, although there is no confirmation on this. Check out our interview with Doug Hoffman, posted last week.

In her statement, she said:

"Today, I again seek to act for the good of our community," Ms. Scozzafava wrote in a letter to friends and supporters. "It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. I am and have always been a proud Republican. It is my hope that with my actions today, my party will emerge stronger and our district and our nation can take an important step towards restoring the enduring strength and economic prosperity that has defined us for generations."

Doug Hoffman picks up Congressional GOP endorsements.

Conservative candidate for Congress, Doug Hoffman, has now received several endorsements from congressional Republicans across the Nation, proving once more that Conservative Republicans want the real Republican elected to Congress, not the fake Republican or the Nancy Pelosi Democrat.

    • Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota has endorsed Doug Hoffman's campaign.
    • Congressman Todd Tiahrt (who is also running for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate) of Kansas has endorsed Doug Hoffman's campaign.
    • Congressman John Linder of Georgia has endorsed Doug Hoffman's campaign, Linder is the former Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
    • Congressman Dana Rohrabacher of California has endorsed Doug Hoffman's campaign, Rohrabacher served in the Reagan administration.

While the list is small, yet growing each day, the fact a Republican brave enough to seek election as a third party candidate, and still receive good support from congressional Republicans, really speaks volumes about what Congressional Republicans want from their candidates.

Doug Hoffman has also been endorsed by Sarah Palin, Fred Thompson, Dick Armey, Tim Pawlently, Rick Santorum, Steve Forbes and James Dobson.

HOFFMAN LEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to a new poll released by the Club for Growth, Doug Hoffman now leads in New Yorks 23rd congressional district special election! While I have been expecting Hoffman to slowly surge into second place, for a hell of an election finale, it appears Hoffman has surged beyond all of my expectations. Check out our interview with the candidate.

Doug Hoffman (C) - 31.3% of the vote.
Bill Owens (D) - 27.0% of the vote.
"Dede" Scozzafava - 19.7% of the vote.

Interview With Doug Hoffman

Fellow Conservatives & Republicans across the Internet, I have just completed an interview with Conservative candidate for the United States Congress in New York's 23rd congressional district, Doug Hoffman. Though the interview lasted just eight minutes, I am really impressed with this candidate, and I have been following his campaign for months. This is the twenty-seventh in our interview series.

Mr.Hoffman was generous enough to keep the answers on a yes or no basis, however, when it comes to the Republican party, he really cannot contain his desire for a Reagan Republican party.

Question : Do you support General McChrystals request to increase troop levels in Afghanistan?

Answer : Yes.

Question : Do you support abolishing the estate tax?

Answer : Yes.

Question : If elected to Congress, will you run in the 2010 Republican primary?

Answer : Yes.

Question : If you are not elected to Congress, will you run for Congress next November?

Answer : Possibly.

Question : Do you believe in a strong Conservative Republican party, or a third party?

Answer : My campaign is to reclaim the heart & soul of the Republican party, I am a Reagan Republican.

Question : Do you support or oppose H.R. 3200, the "public option" bill in the House of Representatives.

Answer : Opposed, in all of its variations.

Question : Do you expect more Congressional Republicans to support your campaign within the next 9 days?

Answer : Absolutely yes.

Thank you Mr.Hoffman for this interview, it sure means alot.

5 reasons to support Doug Hoffman for Congress in New York's 23rd congressional district.

Authors note : This is the final of a series of articles, of why the everyday voter & Conservative reader of this blog should support the Republican candidates during the 2009 elections. Check out our interview with the candidate.

Over the past several months, I have been blogging/following Doug Hoffman's campaign to replace Republican Congressman John McHugh in the House of Representatives. Located in the 23rd congressional district, Doug Hoffman is seeking elected office running as a Conservative, because the supposed elders of the party nominated a far-left radical Republican In Name Only as their candidate.

While I have spent this time blogging in support of Doug Hoffman's campaign, exposing why Scozzafava should not be supported, how Bill Owens is a dangerous Democrat, I have not spent much time on why Doug Hoffman should be elected to Congress. I apologize for my neglect in that matter.

So look no further, as the reasons are numerous, and the opposition is clueless.

  1. Doug Hoffman is the only candidate in this election who represents the true values of the Republican party, he has been involved with local Republican politics for decades, he will caucus with the Republican party, and will join the Republican Study Committee if elected. However, he is a Conservative who is true to his convictions, which is why he cannot support Scozzafava.
  2. Doug Hoffman is the only candidate with "fiscal bearings" in his platform. Hoffman opposes taxes of all kind, he has sworn off pork barrel spending, opposes Obama's stimulus package unlike his opponents, and Hoffman is the only candidate who stands against removing the secret ballot in unionization votes.
  3. Doug Hoffman believes in protecting the lives of those in their mothers womb. He is the only candidate who holds that conviction & respect for life.
  4. Doug Hoffman is not your typical congressional candidate or politician, because he is not a politician. If he losses this election, life will go on for Mr.Hoffman. He is not fixated on the elections of tomorrow, he is running on the dedication to solve the problems of today.
  5. Doug Hoffman is the only candidate who has absolutely no connections or ties to the criminal organization ACORN. Doug Hoffman opposes the radical & criminal views & positions ACORN strongly holds. Also, unlike his two opponents, Doug Hoffman has never received the backing of the ACORN associated "Working Families Party".

If the endorsements of former Senator Thompson, former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, former Governor Sarah Palin, Congressman Todd Tiahrt, the Club for Growth, or numerous other Right of Center elected officials & organization is not enough for you.

Consider this, we only have one candidate who believes in the principles of Ronald Reagan, that candidate would be Doug Hoffman.

Conservative Party of New York is a catch 22.

The Conservative Party of New York has become the vocal point of discussion all across the United States political scene, because of their support of Conservative Republican candidate for United States Congress, Doug Hoffman whom is running on the Conservative line after New York state Republicans selected a far-left liberal in a backroom meeting.

While the Conservatives are a vital organization to Conservative Republicans having the slightest chance of victory in the state of New York, the party has a lot of downfalls on the local levels, while their highest levels of success are in statewide, congressional wide, and federal wide elections.

  • During New York's 20th congressional special election earlier this year, the Conservative party supported Republican candidate for Congress, Jim Tedisco, a strong Conservative Republican who has served in the New York Assembly for decades, and has a pretty impressive record during those years. While Tedisco eventually lost the election by 726 votes, the Conservative party brought 11,332 votes to his campaign.
  • During a special election to fill a New York Assembly seat in Queens (AD 38), the Conservative party supported a radical liberal Democrat over the Republican candidate. The Republican candidate had a real shot at victory in the heavily Democratic district, however, low voter turnout, and the Conservative party supporting the Democrat lead to another vote for Gov. Paterson's agenda being elected to the already super-majority Democrats in the General Assembly.
  • The Conservative party is running Doug Hoffman against two radical liberals, as the special congressional election in New York's 23rd congressional district rages on. Hoffman has received the support of Republicans & Conservatives alike across the Nation, including Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Fred Thompson, Steve Forbes, among many others.
  • The Conservative party is supporting a Republican defector in a local Sheriff's election in Upstate New York, the candidate betrayed the Republican party in the middle of the night to run as a Democrat, and the local Chairman ignored the voice of his party and endorsed the Democrat immediately.

In conclusion, the Republican party is more reliable to support Conservative Republican candidates in the state of New York, then the Conservative party is. I am not smearing, I am just telling the downright truth.

Michele Bachmann to endorse Doug Hoffman?

Doug Hoffman, the Conservative candidate for Congress in New York's special congressional election in the 23rd district, has received endorsements from former Republican Senator Fred Thompson, former Republican Minority Leader Dick Armey, and various Conservative organizations.

The question now is, who will be the next Conservative Republican to break ranks and support Doug Hoffman?

Conservative Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann?

Think about it, Congresswoman Bachmann has become one of the leaders in the Conservative opposition against Obama's agenda over the past several months, Congresswoman Bachmann is not afraid to stand up against liberalism within her own party, and Bachmann's endorsement would only help secure Hoffman's good fundraising amongst Conservatives.

If Bachmann we're to endorse Hoffman's campaign, she would be the first elected Republican official to publicly support Hoffman over Scozzafava, the most radical Republican to ever run for elected office, I believe even more radical and backstabbing then Senator Snowe of Maine.

While this is just a thought as of now, Bachmann's endorsement is a possibility, considering she is a Conservative Republican who is always willing to help fellow Conservative Republicans in need, she has been fighting against ACORN for months, and her rising political profile adds clout amongst Republicans & Conservatives alike. Plus her endorsement would secure Hoffman's fundraising from Conservative activists does not stop.

Keep an eye on the news fellow Republicans & Conservatives.

BREAKING NEWS - Dick Armey to endorse Hoffman campaign!

Former Republican Congressman & House Majority Leader, Dick Armey will endorse Doug Hoffman's campaign to become the next Representative from the 23rd congressional district, Armey's endorsement brings more Conservative & Republican starpower to Hoffman's campaign, whom is attempting to defeat both a radical liberal Democrat & a radical liberal Republican, and it further proves that Scozzafava (the supposed Republican) is not a Conservative, hell, she cannot even be called a Moderate Republican anymore.

http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2009/10/dick-armey-to-endorse-3rd-part.html

Add North Texas' Dick Armey to the list of conservative stars backing Hoffman. The former House Majority Leader has confirmed to the Hoffman campaign that he'll spend Thursday with them, said Rob Ryan, a Hoffman spokesman. "He is with us almost all day Thursday," Ryan told me. "There will be a bunch of different events." Armey's endorsement of Hoffman is personal and wasn't offered on behalf of FreedomWorks, the conservative foundation he chairs.

Let the good times role for Conservatives in the 23rd congressional district. We need to win this election, and the only way to win, is to get Scozzafava the hell out of contention.

Also, Doug Hoffman has also received the endorsement of Conservative talk show host, Mark Levin. http://www.marklevinshow.com/Article.asp?id=1552958&spid=32364

Scozzafava's campaign is officially running on nothing.

The supposed Republican candidate for Congress in New York's 23rd congressional district, Assemblywoman "Dede" Scozzafava, is in the midst of a campaign spiraling out of control. Her campaign is just as liberal as the Democrat's campaign, she had a spy asking Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman questions the other week, disguised as a reporter, she is a sinking ship who is dragging down Republican hopes to keep the district in their hands, and she is even calling the police on Conservative bloggers.

http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/10/scozzafava_calls_the_cops.asp

Tonight, Dede Scozzafava, the Republican candidate for the November 3 special election in the 23rd congressional district, spoke to about 100 Republicans at the Lewis County GOP dinner at the Elks Lodge 1605. After a dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing, Scozzafava fended off criticism that she wasn't as conservative as third-party candidate Doug Hoffman and urged her supporters to vote for her in order to keep her Democratic opponent Bill Owens from serving as a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama's agenda in Washington. It was a fairly typical evening--until the speech ended and someone with Scozzafava's campaign called the police. On me.

The rest is a must read over at the Weekly Standard.

Not sure how Scozzafava could claim she is Conservative, considering she supports card check legislation which would make it easier for unions to threaten workers into unionization, she is as liberal as they come on social issues, she has no economic understanding as she supports the stimulus package, when all 178 (177 voted, one was late to the vote) Republicans in the House opposed it, has been supported by the ACORN associated "Working Families Party", etc. etc. etc.

Look, if the Republican party & Conservative activists want to retain the 23rd congressional district in Republican hands, they must elect Doug Hoffman to the United States Congress, as he is the only electable Republican in the election, he is the only Conservative candidate who the voters can resonate with, and he will caucus with the Republicans and the Republican Study Committee as well.

Does anyone find it interesting that Congressman John McHugh has not commented on this special election? While Congressman McHugh was not the most Conservative Republican in the House of Representatives, he does have a respectable 71% rating from the American Conservative Union, was a good pro-life Conservative, and opposes card check without question.

Scozzafava cannot even commit to staying in her own party, do we really want her handling literal life & death decisions in Washington D.C. to the future of our Nation? I don't think so, Doug Hoffman 09!

Doug Hoffman surges in polls, time for Scozzafava to step aside.

UPDATE 10/26: Hoffman Leads!

If Republicans want to maintain New York's 23rd congressional district, I would recommend the Republican candidate, Assemblywoman "Dede" Scozzafava drop out of the special election being held to replace Republican Congressman John McHugh, and endorse Conservative candidate for Congress, Doug Hoffman. This is no longer a third party candidate which Republicans can dismiss, because Doug Hoffman is not a third party obstructionist, he is the only true Republican in the special congressional election. Check out our interview with the candidate.

According to a new poll released by the Siena Research Institute, Scozzafava is losing more support each and every day, Hoffman is gaining support, and Owens is sitting silently on the sidelines letting Republicans bicker amongst themselves.

Bill Owens (D) - 33%
"Dede" Scozzafava (R) - 29%
Doug Hoffman (C) - 23%
Undecided - 15%.

Doug Hoffman is leading Independent voters, has the backing of 27% of Republican voters, and has surged seven percentage points over the past few weeks, while Scozzafava has lost six percentage points over the past few weeks, the only Republican candidate with serious backing, funding, grassroots support, and resonates with the district is Doug Hoffman.

The time has come for Scozzafava to decide whether or not she will place keeping the district in Republican hands (Doug Hoffman is a Republican, will caucus with Republicans, join the Republican Study Committee), or if she will let a historically Republican district fall into Democratic hands, because of her liberal views which are exactly the same as the Democrat candidate.

Easy decision - Republican control of 23rd congressional district or Democrat control of 23rd congressional district, I prefer Republican control, which is why I call on Scozzafava to end her campaign for Congress, and do the right thing, what the Republican Chairs should have done months ago, support Doug Hoffman for Congress.

www.doughoffmanforcongress.com

I would like to thank R.S. McCain for his support of Doug Hoffman, as he joins such bloggers as Erick Erickson, and American Patriots such as Fred Thompson in supporting the only Conservative Republican in this election. God Bless.
