Politics and Family this weekend.

We must interrupt regular blogging for this notice:

I will not be blogging much over the next 48 or so hours, as I have a big Republican Dinner to attend this evening, and I will be gone most of the weekend in Massachusetts (Nephew's fourth birthday), so I expect Matt and Mike to pick up the slack, and yes, maybe even Joe as well.

Friday afternoon - Set up for Lincoln Dinner.
Friday evening - Lincoln Dinner.
Saturday - Travel and Family.
Sunday - Family and Travel.

Remember to watch Bill O'Reilly this evening, to read Karl Rove over the weekend, and to visit Jumping in Pools on a regular basis, because someone is looking out for you, and it just might be us, unless of course, it's not us.

Real men Campaign for Seven hours.

Also, Matthew Avitabile is the founder and operator of Jumping in Pools.

March 16, 2010 consisted of a regular morning, afternoon and evening for 99% of American residents, if not more. Well, over a dozen individuals located in Upstate, New York, campaigned for close to seven hours in a local Village election. I was one of those campaigners, who worked his ass off for Matthew Avitabile and Doctor Grunning, two respectable candidates seeking two seats on the Village of Middleburgh Board of Trustees.

After seven hours of going door-to-door, talking to local voters, spreading the word about the campaign, and reminding folks to vote until seven o'clock in the evening, the final wait for the polls to close and for the votes to be counted was horrible. The candidates were nervous, I was relieved the campaigning was over, and that our hard work would be known in a short amount of time.

Middleburgh uses paper ballots in their Village elections, so one with good hearing can hear the election officials count the ballots out loud. I don't have the best of hearing, but the local election officials kept repeating the same two names over and over again, "Matt and Tom", "Matt and Tom", "Matt and Tom", while the opposing candidate was mentioned just 53 times.

Dr. Grunning - 198 votes (On Board).
Avitabile - 195 votes (On Board).
Paul Hayes - 53 votes (Lost election).

It was a electoral landslide, that could impact Middleburgh for decades. Some might question why a political junkie such as myself, would be interested in a Village election. Well, the reasons are simple: I have a good friend who needed help, I want to help local candidates who espouse viewpoints such as my own, and these elections are what matter.

Real men don't vote once-a-year in November. Real men Campaign for Seven hours in a local Village election, blisters and all.

Avitabile-Gruning ticket is full speed ahead.

I'd hate to pain hundreds of Conservative individuals across the Nation with boring details from a campaign meeting involving a Village Trustee election, but it involves the Founder and Editor of Jumping in Pools, Matthew Avitabile, who is seeking his second term on the Middleburgh Village Board.
There is one problem with the American voter: Village elections, Town elections, County elections and State elections are ignored for Presidential, Senatorial and Congressional elections. When in fact, those local elections will affect your taxes, lives and pocketbooks more than 435 elected Democrats in Congress ever could.

Matthew Avitabile and Doctor Gruning understand that. Some might not know this, but Matt is one of four elected Village Trustees in Middleburgh, New York. He does what most Conservative and Republican bloggers don't; he makes a real difference.

The meeting this afternoon was interesting and full of discussion, as several individuals, including Matthew Avitabile and Doctor Gruning, prepared for the Village Election that will be held in just 16 days. This is the real America, where ten local individuals join together around a coffee table, with doughnuts and coffee, to work for something on a local electoral basis.

I will be writing about the election as March 16th rolls around, and for all in Middleburgh; vote Avitabile-Grunning for the Village of Middleburgh Board of Trustees on March 16th.

The Great Article Race

Once again, it's that time of the month, everybody. Sorry about the delay, but this is the first GAR since May 22. I'd like our writers to comment on this story; tell me what you think, how we could change, what we can do together!

So, without further ado, the top writers since May 22:

Matt- 99
Mike- 156
Mr. K- 85
And three times running, our worst poster, Joe C., with exactly zero posts.

Unfortunately, as you can probably tell, not many people were writing articles the last month and a half. I am happy to report, however, that Luke, Mr. K, Matt, Mike, and Alezend all posted comments on several articles. So it's obvious that we are not all silent.

Yes, everyone, it is time for our favorite part of the Great Article Race, the part where we tell you all how our articles did in the last month and a half. From May 22 until today, July 9, we've had a total of 77,580 pageviews. Now...

The Five Biggest Articles of the Last Month and a Half
:

1. Obama to Sell B-2 Bomber Blueprints to China by Matthew, with 10,431 views, or 13.4 percent of our views since the last Great Article Race.
2. Military to Pledge Oath to Obama by Matthew, with 5,444 views, or 7.0 percent of our pageviews
3. Sotomayor: Gun Ownership Illegal by Matthew, with 4,468 views, or 5.8 percent of our pageviews
4. Article About Miss California Nude Picture by Michael, with 2,353 views, or 3.0 percent of our pageviews
5. Joe's Look-A-Like of the Day by Michael, with 1,549 views, or 2.0 percent of our pagevies

Honorable Mention- Obama Calls Tea Parties Idiotic by Michael, with 1,011 views, or 1.3 percent of our pageviews

Bold=Satire

Mr. K's top article comes in at number 15, with Key Section of Honduras Constitution, which received 404 views in the last month and a half.

Introducing a new feature this month, the Top Commenter of the Month. Not only does this include the number of comments posted, but quality and insightfulness.

The top candidates are:

Mr. K, Luke, and Innominatus.

Now Mr. K is clearly one of our best commenters because he gives feedback quite often and quite verbosely. Luke is similar, always busting chops when he gets the chance. Innominatus, one of our most devoted and best readers, comes as a sort of dark horse candidate, as he doesn't even write on the blog. However, he comments a lot on our pieces, and it's always nice to know that we're being read by people out in the blogosphere.

And our top commenter of the month is... Innominatus. What really wins out for our best reader is how often he comments, and how well he comments. Always quick with his posts, he keeps us writers on our toes.

Some interesting notes of the past month and a half:

- Though Mr. K came in third this month in number of articles, his computer was on the fritz for a little while
- This month was the first time anyone has written more articles than Matthew
- This is the first time that no one has written an article other than Matt, Mike and Mr. K
- We had our first 10,000 blitz in the last month and a half. We hit almost 6,000 people.
- We had also planned a second blitz, but practically called it off.
- Where's Joe C.?

The Great Article Race

It's that time of the month again, folks. Unlike previous months, I'm going to lump the statistics in with the number of posts, so this will be a moderately lengthy article. Anyway, this will document our posts from April 14th to today, May 22nd. So, without further ado, the top posters of the last month are:

1. Matthew, with 116 posts

3. Mr. K, with 36 posts
4. E_D_Casabonne
, with 2 posts
4. Light of the Word, with 2 posts
4. Elsewhere, with 2 posts
And Last, for 2 months running, Joe C., with 5 posts: one had literally no words, another was just one sentence, two were videos, and another mocked Orthodox Christianity.

And back by popular demand are the top 6 posts of the month. In the last month's time, we've had one of the most successful months in Jumping in Pools history, reaching 88,953 pageviews from April 22nd to May 22nd. That's an incredible number that I don't think we'll reach again for a while unless we break some amazing news, or Joe C. actually writes an article or two. Anyway, here are the top articles of the month:

1. Miss California Article About Nude Photos, with 48,993 views, or 55.1% of our views this month

6. Obama to Apologize for American War Crimes During WWII, with 1,066 views, or 1.2% of our views this month

Bold= Satire

Interesting Notes:
Mr. K's top article came in at #18 with his article, France Goes too Far
Joe C.'s article, Swine Flu, Retro Style, is our first article with no words
This is the first time since we started the Great Article Race that an article has beaten Matt's Military Oath article in pageviews
Light of the Word and Elsewhere wrote their first articles this past month
Alezend and Lute Barnes wrote no articles
Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backwards
