Odds and Ends on The Site

We've been doing some maintenance on JiP to help the page load faster and look less cluttered. We've moved some things around and cut the posts on the main screen to three. This should help the site load much quicker and make us look a little sleeker.

Let us know what you think!

We had a total of 72,560 pageviews. Please everyone comment-- our writers and anyone that follows the site.

This is the first time in three GARs that Mr. K. has not been at the top of the most popular articles list.

This is the first list of most popular articles with no satire pieces in them.

Joe C. tied his posting amount from the last GAR with five, but is short of his record of 11.

Sirchadthepro's top article was his Starcraft 2 review, with 27 views.

Joe C.'s most popular article was on why President Obama is not a socialist, with 59 hits.

Alezend's only article about his review of DragonAge got 5 hits.

Don't forget to comment-- that means you, Joe.

Joe C. has hired a dream team for his Senate Campaign after taunting Kirsten Gillebrand.

We've received a lot of comments, including from FenwayNation, Innominatus, Sr. Frijoles, and jdcroft2001. Keep 'em coming!

The Fox News of the Blogosphere.

Call me prejudiced, but I believe Jumping in Pools is the Fox News of the Blogosphere. I don't drink alcohol or smoke illegal substances (or legal ones, to be honest), so I am writing this as a 100% sane individual who is looking at this argument from a objective standpoint: Without a blog such as Jumping in Pools, 700 Conservatives per day would be adrift in a blogosphere of unknowns.

Maybe I have lost it, but Jumping in Pools was one of the first blogs to support Doug Hoffman, Scott Brown, Charles Djou, and we're on the ball, when others are not: Our leading example is the Tea Party Express endorsing Walt Minnick, some were blinded by Tea Party protests, but we were shocked by the news, and felt a need to alarm the citizens of America as to the idiotic endorsement of Walt Minnick, a Pelosi Democrat.

We don't have a Bill O'Reilly, but we do have a Matthew Avitabile. We don't have a Neil Cavuto, but we have a Michael Avitabile. We don't have a Glenn Beck, but we have me. We don't have a dumb, yet lovable Democrat, but we do have Joe C, who is quite intelligent, when he wants to be.

It's true that our profits would force a local Deli out of business, and perhaps a neighborhood kid mowing lawns or shoveling snow, and maybe even a cheap prostitute, and even some workers at McDonald's, but we love blogging, we love Conservatism, and we love America, and if that's good enough for us, it's good enough for all of our readers as well.

Readers will come and go, must will go, but we'll be right here: Writing, blogging, whoring, and doing everything else under the sun to bring readers in. We (at least I think all of us can agree) hope that if you like Jumping in Pools, you'll continue to visit. If you like our content, please drop a comment in support or even of opposition.

God Bless America and long live The Fox News of the Blogosphere! (Or in other words, Jumping in Pools.)

PS - In response to Reaganite Republican: We don't have any hot blonde chicks, but we do expose liberals for the silicon boobs they are.

    About Us

This blog was started in May 2008 but didn't feature politics on it for about five months. By the end of October of that year with the election heating up we put up articles pushing hard against the Obama campaign. However, our efforts were futile in the face of all of the stupid people who voted for him.

We feature straight-up politics, investigative reporting, local Upstate NY coverage, interviews, reporting on Senatorial and Congressional races, the occasional satire, and up-to-date stories on Joe C.

    Our writers:

Matthew Avitabile: Founded this blog in 2008-- has written some of our biggest stories, including those that were featured on Rush Limbaugh and MSNBC. Currently finishing up his MA in European History at SUNY Albany. Reach him at avitmw-at-gmail-dot-com.

Aurelius: One of the first contributors on JiP. Has written about the Obama Effect and has conducted many interviews of Congressional candidates. A student at SUNY Oneonta studying for a Bachelor's degree in history. He can be reached at dr.orfannkyl-at-yahoo-dot-com

Mr. K.: Another writer based in Schoharie County. Our Richmondville specialist, has been featured on Instapundit numerous times and has interviewed candidates for Congress. Currently the Chairman of the SC Young Republicans Club. A home-schooled student finishing his diploma. Can be reached at aaaabraves-at-yahoo-dot-com.

Eli: Eli is a medic in the United States National Guard. Another local writer, Eli is a member of the SC Young Republicans and a potential candidate for local office.

Joe C.: Joe binds our blog together with his enormous heart. Joe has written up to two articles in his year and a half on the blog. Joe even wrote an article with no words. Joe has been featured on many of our articles and is currently challenging NY Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in the Democratic Primaries. Joe is a junior Pre-Law student at SUNY Oneonta.

BREAKING-- Luke Takes Second in Comments

This is an incredibly black day for mankind. As of the morning of March 10, 2010, Luke has taken second place in the overall comments on our blog. Luke, who was named the World's Ugliest Person, has been trolling our blog with his horrible comments.

Luke currently has 46 comments, leapfrogging both Mike and Mr. K, who both have 44 comments each.

Why this terrible occurence happened cannot be understood. We must also sadly report that Joe C. is down to just 18 comments, falling behind two spammers.

    What's happening?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    Our Next Top Article?

Lately our blog traffic has quadrupled due to a very unexpected source. Mr. K is doing a good job talking about the Tea Party movement's want to run its own political candidates while Mike wrote about the top Presidents.

Meanwhile, we're getting thousands of hits off of an article by Alezend, who barely writes. His article about women more attractive than Megan Fox got picked up by Google's search features. In fact, if you type in "Megan Fox" into Google Image Search, our site comes up second.

So Alezend might have the most popular article soon for some reason.

    If only Joe wrote.

Awesome: Jumping in Pools #95 in Authority According to Technorati

Well, shucks. While I was searching the interwebs this evening, I visited Technorati and figured I'd check to see where JiP stood in authority. Much to my surprise, we are ranked number ninety-five in United States Political Blogs:And here's the link. Looks like we're moving up the world.

Oh, and in case you were wondering what the bigot at Little Green Footballs is ranked, it's a hilariously low 384:

Click on the pictures for much better quality!

UPDATE: Our friends at The Lonely Conservative are just behind us at 96. Way to go guys, we're moving up in the world.

Defending Jumping in Pools, Part One

Authors note - the standing of Jumping in Pools has been questioned as of late, and it is time to settle the false claims, once and for all.

Over the past few months, Jumping in Pools has been plagued by false claims, resulting from the "Obama thesis hoax of 2009 backlash." As a hard working Conservative blogger, who loves America and Freedom of Speech, the time is right for Jumping in Pools to fight back, and to fight the awful smears.

On November 27th, Jumping in Pools wrote an article on Glenn Beck's bizarre call for soldiers "not to re-enlist." The Riehl World View linked the article on November 28th; however, several comments on the Riehl World View attempted to discredit this fine website, with smears originating from Gateway Pundit.

Claim number one: "Your source is tainted."

"FYI - Your source is tainted!" was posted on November 28th, linking to Gateway Pundit's article on Jumping in Pools from the thesis hoax backlash. However, the commenter was not finished there, later adding, "Dan, pushing back doesn't ring so true when you use a tainted source."

There is a problem here: how is Jumping in Pools a tainted website or source? Besides from the dire warning posted on Gateway Pundit, warning all Conservative blogs from reading one of the most interesting blogs in the Internet, no one else finds us as "dangerous." We have been linked numerous times from Insta Pundit, Legal Insurrection, The Other McCain, Pundit & Pundette, several congressional campaigns, Jihad Watch, Flopping Aces, and Wizbang, along with numerous other Conservative and Libertarian learning websites.

How can we be a tainted website? We have interviewed numerous Republican candidates for the House of Representatives, including Doug Hoffman during the final stretch of the campaign last election, and we have interviewed some of the most interesting members of the blogosphere - including Jackie Seal (the brave girl who stood against the progressive media dogs), Smitty (co-blogger on The Other McCain), Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch, among other bloggers and politicians from our side of the political aisle.

I guess, we're tainted because of a labeled satire article posted in August of 2009, and publicized in October of 2009, which Michael Ledeen of Pajamas Media forgot to recognize as such, leading to a bombshell that led almost all of the Conservative blogosphere and even Rush Limbaugh, to believe a satirical work of fiction, even though it was labeled as such.

Should we be tainted because of Mr.Ledeen's mistake? I don't think so, considering Mr.Ledeen admitted to making a mistake, and also admitted to being a mastermind of satire from his earlier years as a writer.

    Conclusion

Jumping in Pools is not a tainted website, for numerous reasons.

Reason one - Jumping in Pools has been linked from Insta Pundit, Legal Insurrection, The Other McCain, Libertarian Republican, The Lonely Conservative, Jihad Watch, Doug Powers, and a couple of congressional campaigns, since the thesis ordeal in October. These websites, individuals, and campaigns would not associate with a "tainted source" considering their reputations. Furthermore, we have interviewed numerous Republican candidates for office, a former member of the Bush administration, and the Constitution Party's 2008 Vice-Presidential candidate for the United States, Darrell Castle.

Reason two - Jumping in Pools published an article in August, labeled it satire, and never bothered with it again. Michael Ledeen found the article on Twitter, posted it in haste, and neglected to read the entire page, before posting on one of the largest Conservative outlets of media in the United States. This mistake resulted in millions of Conservatives being sucked into a false article, because a well respected writer did not do research.

Reason three - 3,403 articles have been posted on Jumping in Pools since 2008, 158 of those articles or 4.7% of those articles have been satire, and all have been labeled as such. That means, 95.3% of all articles posted on Jumping in Pools are based on sound opinions, facts, and Conservative reasoning, doesn't sound like a track record of "taintedness".

Join us tomorrow, for the second edition of Defending Jumping in Pools.

    Banner Change: An Explanation

Starting today, Jumping in Pools will be changing its banner slightly, taking out the picture of a friend of ours. Over the last three months, for whatever reason, this picture has come under attack.

To clear some things up, the picture was of Joe Chicoine, a friend of my brother and I. Here is his Facebook profile, please don't annoy him.

For some reason, people have been attacking him and insulting him. He has been called postulated, a mouth-breather, a fake, a phony, and hungover. Apparently, some assholes have nothing else to do than attack our friend, even after explaining the picture and explaining that he was autistic.

Well, you have gotten your wish. We're taking down the picture, the very one that made him so happy.

This shit disgusts me, quite frankly. So to all that have been spreading rumors about Joe, and this comes from the bottom of my heart, SCREW YOU!

We'd also like to take a moment to welcome our latest writer, Southern Man, who wrote his first article, a satire piece about the Obamacare debacle.

Interview with Jumping in Pools founder, Matthew Avitabile.

Jumping in Pools was created in 2008, however, most of the writers on Jumping in Pools, did not join the blog until late 2008, I did not become a fulltime writer on Jumping in Pools until spring of 2009. It has been a pleasure writing with the Conservative blogosphere, and with the founder of this blog, Matthew Avitabile, who agreed to an interview on his own website, few have such courage. Please read this interview, and discover the reasons behind the oddball sounding name of this Conservative political blog. This is number 38 in our interview series.

Tim Knight - What is the meaning of Jumping in Pools?

    Matthew Avitabile -
I named the blog Jumping in Pools after an incident in high school. On a $30 bet from two of my friends I jumped into an above-ground pool covered in ice in November 2003. I only got $20 of the $30, though. I figured the name would be a neat eye-catcher while summing up my later high school days.

Tim Knight - What has been Obama's best accomplishment as President, and his worst moment as President?

    Matthew Avitabile -
Jokingly, his best moment was slamming Kanye West. That's something we can all get behind. His real best moment was his speech accepting the Nobel Prize when he basically said that sometimes war is justified and that he was confused why he won the prize.

His worst moment was not speaking up for the people of Iran in June. He was basically giving them the cold shoulder.

Tim Knight - Will we win the War in Afghanistan, and will we enter Yemen within the next few years?

Matthew Avitabile - Yes, we will win in Afghanistan. Obama made a good commitment in his surge and it is likely that more troops will follow. Remember, over half of Afghanistan's territory and population is secure. It will require a hard-fought COIN campaign in the Pashtun areas, but it is likely to work.

We will undoubtedly be in Yemen in some capacity in the next five years. Most likely, we'll send in trainers and more special-ops teams. I can't see a full blown invasion, though. Somalia is a much worse breeding ground for jihad.

Tim Knight - Will Senator McCain be re-elected in Arizona's upcoming election?

Matthew Avitabile - Unfortunately it appears like John McCain may be pushed out narrowly by the right-wing purists in the party and hand the Senate seat over to the Democrats to prove some pointless point.

Tim Knight - What is the greatest part of writing, in your opinion?

    Matthew Avitabile -
Writing and having comments-- especially when people think that your work doesn't suck.

Tim Knight - Will the Republicans regain control of the House of Representatives?

    Matthew Avitabile -
No, I believe that they'll come close. It's more important to let the Dems control both Houses so then they'll be blamed rather than having a one-vote GOP majority and be blamed for the President's poor decisions.
Tim Knight - Who will be the Republican nominee in 2012?

    Matthew Avitabile -
I have no idea. I'll have to punt. But I will say that it probably won't be Sarah Palin. She's got over 20 years ahead of her to become President and she knows it.
Tim Knight - What do you see for the future of Jumping in Pools?

Matthew Avitabile - A slowly growing readership from almost 200 now to over 400 next year. A few Instalanches and satire pieces may also gain us some spikes-- who knows.

    Interview: Mr. K of JiP

Mr. K has been writing for our humble site for over a year now. He's contributed lots of articles and has gotten us on Instapundit twice. He's forged a close relationship with The Other McCain and other conservative blogs. He interviewed Doug Hoffman and other candidates for Congress. This is number 39 in our interview series.

    1. What do you believe has been your best accomplishment since writing for JiP?
Interviewing Doug Hoffman during the special election in New York's 23rd congressional district. I was given fifteen minutes to prepare, then a candidate for the House of Representatives called me for a brief interview......greatest moment as a writer for Jumping in Pools.

    2. What has been President Obama's best accomplishment in office?
Besides energizing the Conservative movement like never before.........Nope.

    3. Worst?
Is there one little thing we can point towards as the worst accomplishment? As I must answer the question, being elected was the worst accomplishment of Obama's time in office.

    4. Do you believe that the US has won the War in Iraq?
I believed we won the War in Iraq two years ago. With this idiot in charge, I just hope we can retain that accomplishment.

    5. If a strong third party candidate runs for President in 2012 how much will it hurt the Republican Party?
How much did Ralph Nader hurt Al Gore in 2000? Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin stole two states from John McCain in 2008. If a strong third party candidate arises, a second term for Barack Obama is guaranteed.

    6. Do you believe that the GOP will retake Congress this year?
We need to capture 40 congressional districts to retake the House of Representatives. While that might seem high, Republicans gained 54 seats during the 1994 Conservative revolution, and the Conservative Republican movement is ten times stronger in 2010 than it was in 1994. So yes, I believe a Republican will be the Speaker of the House.

    7. Where do you see the blog in a year?
Well, as long as Insta Pundit gives us a few linkings, The Other McCain continues to exist, and folks are still interested in the site, we shall prevail.
