Delaware and South Carolina.

Tea Partiers dislike Congressman Castle of Delaware, and Senator Graham of South Carolina. So far as to challenge Mr.Castle in Delaware's Senatorial Republican Primary. However, this creates a political situation that could end up hurting the Tea Party, hurting Republicans, and hurting all chance of winning in Delaware.

Mr.Castle is a Delaware Republican - supports cap & trade, supports socially liberal policies, and supports more Democratic positions than any other Republican in Congress. He is the RINO of the House, I know that. But I also know the state that he resides from: Delaware, the first state to support the federal Constitution, and almost the last one to support a Republican.

Mr.Castle is the only individual to win statewide office in Delaware since the early 1990's, as a member of the Republican Party. No-one else has done that, and no-one else has come close to doing that. It's true that Mr.Castle is a Republican liberal, but his opponent is a Democrat liberal, and I will take 55% Conservatism over 100% Liberalism every day of the week.

The Tea Party doesn't give a damn about what I just wrote. They want Grand Old Party scalps, and they want Ms.Christine O'Donnell, a lovely Pro-Life advocate, to be our Nominee against the Democratic Nominee, Chris Coons, who is leading Ms.O'Donnell by 7-to-10 points according to almost every poll. While at the same time: Castle leads in every poll.

So here's the situation: Mr.Castle is the only Republican that can win in Delaware, but the Tea Party is supporting a candidate that has already lost running for this seat before (2008 election against Joe Biden), and is running towards her fourth* straight electoral defeat now. There's a time for pureness and there's a time for big tents.

Senator Graham in South Carolina is a time for pureness. Michael Castle in Delaware is a time for big, big, big tents. Republicans regaining the United States Senate depends on winning every seat that we can, with the proper candidates that will bring us to the promise land.

* - Lost the Republican Nomination for US Senate in 2006.
* - Lost the 2006 US Senate Election running as a Write-in.
* - Lost the 2008 US Senate Election against Senator Biden.

Military man defeated in Idaho Primary.

It's true that Vaughn Ward stumbled towards the end of a long-hard fought Primary, which Raul Labrador (Republicans can't win the Hispanic vote?) won with close to 50% of the vote. But this is not just another loss for the Establishment GOP (Ward's a lifelong soldier, Labrador is a State legislator, how is Ward the Establishment?), it's another loss for the Military candidate.

In the year of the Tea Party: Veterans, Military men, and those who support National Defense have been targeted across the Nation, and a good number have been defeated. Senator Bennett was shoved out in Utah, Trey Grayson was defeated in Kentucky, Vaughn Ward was ambushed in Idaho, and Isolationists have won across the political spectrum.

I'm not accusing Raul Labrador of being against the United States Military, our Wars or other National Defense related issues, but his record of accomplishment doesn't come within a dozen miles of Vaughn Ward. Ward is a United States Marine who served his Nation for over a decade - whether it be regular duty overseas, joining the CIA or fighting in Afghanistan.

The Halls of Congress would have been better off with Vaughn Ward; a real American hero and Patriot. It's a shame the Republican voters of Idaho's 1st congressional district disagreed. But, I wouldn't want it any other way than the Republican voters deciding in the ballot boxes.

On a sidenote: 81,220 Republicans voted in yesterday's Primary election. That's about 45% of all Republican votes received in 2008; our base is energized, our movement is ready, and we should be able to recapture this Conservative district once and for all in November. As long as the "Tea Partiers" don't screw things up.

Schoharie County Tea Party confronts Congressman with a 15 foot rat.

Somehow attending a Lincoln Dinner seemed more interesting than protesting a Congressman who could care less about what I think (Dinner was excellent, Bruce Blakeman is the only man for the job, and I'll write about this sometime next week), but it appears the Tea Party of Schoharie County has outdone themselves:

It was a quiet peaceful protest at the Best Western. There were laughs about the 15 foot Rat, who someone named “Paul”. Speculation on who it was named after had the crowd laughing. It wasn’t until members of the Democratic Party of Schoharie County showed for their dinner that things started to get nasty. Some of the Democratic Party member began shouting vile things at the peaceful Tea Party members. Cursing and shouting the “F” word and other vulgarities at the men, women and seniors of the Tea Party was common place.

Anyway, it appears this protest was successful in its' objective of meeting with Paul Tonko, even though he lied right to their faces.

Interview With the Schoharie County Tea Party

 Jumping in Pools is proud to present number 80 in our ongoing series. This time we're happy to interview the Tea Party of Schoharie County. They held a very successful meeting just last week which attracted over 300 residents.

1. When did you decide to help organize a Tea Party movement in Schoharie County?   

In the past 1 month 

2. What is your overall goal-- strictly for Schoharie County?   

 Local, State and Federal with an emphasis on Schoharie County.  Grassroots works best from the ground up.

3. What are your criterions for supporting candidates? Does this include socially-liberally but fiscally-conservative Democrats?  

 The Tea Party movement is not affiliated with any party.  Its purpose, Nationally and the Schoharie County chapter, is to get the Country back on a course in keeping with the vision of our Founding Fathers and the Constitution.  It starts with fiscally responsible policies based on personal responsibility and individual freedom.  This means significant cuts in spending at all levels, reduction in entitlement programs, leaner and more efficient government and compensation for public sector employees in line with private sector pay and benefits.  In conjunction with reductions in spending, tax cuts and simplification are necessary to stimulate economic growth to enable us to get to balanced budgets and to ultimately reduce the National debt.

In addition to fiscally conservative policies, the Tea Party supports a strong National defense, gun rights, property rights, free enterprise capitalism, significant reductions in regulations and energy independence through domestic energy production.  Specific examples are repeal of the recently enacted Health Care Reforms, prevention of Cap and Trade legislation and other onerous taxes and regulations.  Also, immigration reform that does not include amnesty, health care reform that involves Tort Reform and free-market solutions to reduce cost.

As for social issues, the Tea Party is more in line with a Libertarian point of view in which people should be able to live their lives as long as they take responsibility for their actions and the associated consequences without looking to their neighbors for financial support for their poor decisions.

With all of the above in mind, citizens belonging to any political party (or no party at all) are welcome to participate. 

Although this is far too brief an answer to your question, hopefully it gives some perspective as to the goals of the movement.

4. Are you considering running (or supporting running) candidates under a third party?   

The Tea Party prefers to first start by supporting candidates that espouse the values as articulated above.  This Country is, at its very core, a 2 party system.  Any attempt to fight this reality via a 3^rd party would likely mean that our efforts would be diluted to the point of failure.  With this in mind, the Republican party is the most likely starting place for the changes that we view as necessary.  Should they disappoint, then we will move to a 3^rd party and never look back.

5. Do you approve of President Obama's job performance so far?   

No!  His policies CLEARLY do not fit within the values of this Nation as articulated above.  His assault on our free market economy must be stopped.  His assault on individual liberty and property rights must be stopped.  His policies to weaken our National defense must be stopped.

6. Do you consider yourself or the SC Tea Party movement more conservative, anti-statist, or libertarian?   

More conservative, especially as it relates to fiscal policy.

7. Anything else you'd like to add?

Schoharie County Tea Party Meeting-- April 2010

From one participant:

"New Obama Care...we asked for bacon and eggs and the government serves us “imitation bacon bits and powered eggs” and says it’s the same thing, charges us more and says we no longer have a choice. Just eat it and shut up or else!... What kind of America is this? "

That was just some of the sentiment at the first meeting of the Schoharie Party Tea Party, which met on Thursday April 15th in Richmondville, NY. According to sources, between 300-400 people participated in this grassroots exercise in democracy.


The hall was so packed that many people had to wait outside as the speakers and the audience made their cases. We did have one of our writers at the meeting, and reported on the triumphant success of the meeting.

In attendance were many of political prominance-- in place to listen to the people. These included State Assemblyman Peter Lopez, State Senator Jim Seward, and Middleburgh Supervisor Dennis Richards.


The next meeting of the Tea Party will be May 11th in Richmondville. All are invited.

The Lies of the New York Times about the Tea Party

If you pick up this Tax Day's edition of the New York Times, right on the front is a color-coded chart of percentages comparing Republicans, Tea Partiers, and "All Adults" in the Untied States. Trying desperately to show Tea Partiers as people well out of the norm, the very first poll the Times shows is the percent of members of the Tea Party, Republicans, and Adults who have an unfavorable opinion of President Obama. Here the lies start.

The Times states that 84% of Tea Partiers, 67% of Republicans, but only 33% of adults have an unfavorable opinion of the President. Clearly, they put this one front and center to pretend that Tea Partiers are no where near "normal" adults. But the 33% number, quite frankly, is a lie.

All one has to do is look up the incredibly liberal website Daily Kos; even they put the percent of "average" adults that views the President unfavorably at 41%. Marist agrees with 41%. But look at the AP, they put it at 44%. Fox News puts it at 45%. And Quinnipiac puts it at 47%. Not a single one of these polls even dips below 40%, not even the most liberal. Yet the New York Times states that only 33% of Americans view our President unfavorably. That is a lie.

If you bother to read the article printed next to the outlandish polls, lies abound as well. To quote the article, Tea Partiers are angry because "the policies of the Obama administration are disproportionately directed at helping the poor rather than the middle class or the rich." It is hard not to laugh at such lies.

This statement in the article is meant to show Tea Partiers as wealthy people who hate the poor. The truth of the matter is that the Tea Party is trying to help everyone, including the poor. If you don't make much money, the Tea Party believes that you should be able to keep more of it instead of having it taxed away.

This article is nothing but an attack on conservatism. Through it all, you can even see jabs at Sarah Palin. The article states that a majority of even these conservative, mainly Republican Tea Partiers "do not think Sarah Palin is qualified to be president." I don't think that I am the only one to know that this is not true.

So when you read the New York Times, know that you are being lied to. Any amount of research will show you that it is lying to your face.

Mike Lupica is an Idiot

New York Daily News sports writer has delved into the political world with a particularly insulated, poorly understood article. He's done this for years, namely rebutting President Bush's speech announcing the Iraq troop surge (why a sports writer?). In any case, you can probably tell where he's heading with just the title of his article:

Tea Party activism is not about political dissent - It's about vile, storm trooper sound bites

This is no longer about political dissent. It is about storm trooper sound bites, and hate. This isn't the kind of honest debate on which our system of government has been built. It is vile, back-alley fighting, getting worse by the day, with no end in sight. People say that opposition to all Presidents, even the most unpopular white ones, sounds like this. No, it doesn't.

Stick to the sports pages, Mike.

So if you have some time and extra stress in your life, you can check out the rest of the article. That being said, you might not want to waste your time.

Obama Calls Tea Parties 'Idiotic'

WASHINGTON- A classified memo written by the President, in which he instructs Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on how to address questions concerning so called Tea Parties, has been leaked to the public.

The document, dated April 13, details President Obama's instructions on how Gibbs should respond to questions asked by reporters. In it, the President tells Gibbs to downplay the importance of "social events that are aimed at undermining [the President's] plan to fix the economy."

President Obama also instructs Gibbs to "not answer any questions regarding these gatherings directly," writing that they are "idiotic" in their aims to curb government spending.

This leak comes at a time when the President has been criticized by Republicans for being too wasteful in his spending and agenda.

"Once again, the President has shown that he is utterly out of touch with the American public," said Joseph Barton, a representative of Texas's 6th Congressional District. "Doesn't he understand that people are sick and tired of unending taxes? Apparently not."

The Administration defended the memo, stating that its release was "unintentional," but that it is how the President characterizes "unnecessary criticism." Robert Gibbs also released a statement, writing that he does "not understand the uproar about something that the majority of Americans agree with anyway."

The President has not released a direct statement to the press, but one is expected in the coming days.
