Republican gains in Hawaii are dramatic.

Hawaii's first congressional district is now in Republican hands, and Washington Democrats are sure to be planning "firing squads" for Colleen Hanabusa and Ed Case; the two Democrats who split the 100,000 Democratic vote, opening the path for Charles Djou, a certified Conservative.

Now I expect most Democrats and Liberals to blame Charles Djou's "victory" on the Democratic split, and on Hawaii's unique special election format. However, that would be a distraction from the real picture: Charles Djou increased Republican votes by more than 75% during a special election.

Don't believe me? Wrap your mind around these statistics:

2008 congressional election

(D) Abercrombie - 154,208 - 70.6%
(R) Steve Tataii - 38,115 - 17.4%
Other/Blank vote - 25,963 - 11.9%

2010 special election

(R) Charles Djou - 67,610 - 39.4%
(D) Democrats - 100,193 - 58.4%
Other/Blank vote - 3,614 - 2.2%

Charles Djou not only benefited from a "Democratic split" between Moderates and Liberals, but he increased the amount of Republican votes in Hawaii's first congressional district by 29,000 votes or by 75%, in a special election. That's a dramatic shift in just 18 months.

If Republicans can increase their vote total by 75% in Hawaii; a well known bastion of Democrat policies (exempting traditional marriage, which Hawaiians feel strongly about) and politicians, than what can Republicans do in Arkansas, North Dakota, Arizona and Nevada; states where Democrats are on the decline?

Congressman Djou's successful campaign increased Republican votes by 75% during a special congressional election, when most voters stay home (54% of registered voters participated in this special election). What will happen across America in November; when the American public declares liberalism dead on review? We can only hope, but I'm optimistic.

Djou wins in Hawaii.

Hawaii's special congressional election has received little media attention over the past month, but the surprising results from Hawaii's first congressional district this evening could change all that come tomorrow and the week ahead. Its true: Republican Charles Djou has won in the congressional district that President Barack Obama grew up in.

Look out Scott Brown; there's a new "Republican upset kid" coming to Washington. No trucks I'm afraid, but a nice surfboard could work for Mr.Djou; especially along the Potomac. For just one minute I want to suck this victory in, while others across the Blogosphere wonder what in the hell just happened, unlike me, who has actually been following this election for months.

Hawaii Board of Elections:

(R) - Charles Djou - 67,274 - 39.5%
(D) - C. Hanabusa - 52,445 - 30.8%
(D) - Ed Case - 47,012 - 27.6%

Winning in Pennsylvania's 12th congressional district would have been impressive, but winning in Hawaii's 1st congressional district; where only one other Republican has ever been elected to the House of Representatives from, is literally earth shattering, and will provide Congressional Republicans with much appreciated backup.

Finally: A Republican has won in a special congressional election! In none other than Barack Obama's hometown congressional district. Sure, it's true that Hawaii Democrats split their vote; but it doesn't matter - winning is winning, whether it be pretty good or ugly good.

Democrats Pull Out of Hawaii Congressional Race

The national Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has come to the realization that the defense of Hawaii-01 is hopeless. The top two Democratic candidates are splitting over 50% of the vote and it appears that the Republican Charles Djou should be able to win in the three-way race.

Djou widens lead in Hawaii.

Charles Djou is the man of the hour in Hawaii. When his Republican campaign was launched to replace the resigning Congressman Abercrombie, victory depended on local Republicans uniting around his campaign, and on local Democrats splitting the vote between their two leading candidates.

According to a new poll from Hawaii: Charles Djou is leading the Hawaii special election with 36 percent of the vote, his Democratic counterparts combine their total margins for 50 percent of the vote, and he leads his closest Democratic opponent by eight percentage points. Charles Djou is close to becoming the first federal Republican Representative from Hawaii in two decades.

79% of Republican voters, 42% of Independent voters and 19% of Democratic voters are supporting Charles Djou through Hawaii's unique "mail-in-ballot" special election format. Leaving him with a stronger coalition than he could have ever imagined when his campaign was launched. Victory is almost here and I'm sure Mr.Djou can taste it.

I'll be following this election closely over the next two weeks, and I ask that all registered voters in Hawaii's First Congressional District mail back your ballot in support of Charles Djou, a man who will represent your issues and concerns, not Washington's.

Letter to the citizens of Hawaii.

To the citizens of Hawaii's first congressional district:

Aloha.

I must first admit something: I am not a citizen of Hawaii, I have never visited Hawaii, and I have no relations in Hawaii, but I am a fellow American citizen who has been following your special election with great interest. Your special election will not only impact Hawaii's political foundations, but it could shake up the entire United States House of Representatives.

When it was first announced that Congressman Abercrombie was stepping down, I was optimistic and hopeful for whomever the eventual Republican nominee would be. But, when I read into the political record of Councilman Djou, he won me over on a silver platter, because this man is not just a fine Republican, but he's also a fine Representative.

Whether it be in the Hawaii House of Representatives or the Honolulu City Council; Charles Djou has fought for his fellow citizens. Mr.Djou has fought political and social corruption, something he feels very strongly about. Mr.Djou would also be someone quite unique in America's Democratic controlled Congress - an Independent thinker.

Charles Djou doesn't pander for votes, he has remained committed to his principles and values through out this entire election. Such as his firm commitment to traditional marriage between one man and one woman. Unlike his two opponents, who both accept the homosexual notion of marriage in one way or another.

With all of the above in mind: I ask that the citizens of Hawaii, who will soon receive their mail-in-ballots, vote for Charles Djou, a man of the Hawaiian people. He will stand strong in Congress for our common values, and he will legislate as an Independent thinker, who will fight for a better and stronger Hawaii and America.

Obama: Original Birth Certificate 'Lost in House Fire'

Responding to Hawaiian health officials, who confirmed that the President's 'long-form' birth certificate has not been released to the public, a spokeperson for President Barack Obama stated this morning that it is impossible for the papers to be released at all.

Through a spokesperson working for the Administration, the President now claims that his original birth certificate was lost in a fire in 1972. At the time, Mr. Obama was living with his grandparents in Honolulu.

"There was a small house fire in which the document was lost," the spokesperson said. "That is why the President has been unable to comply with requests to release it. While the President understands the concerns of citizens, he hopes that this will put the matter to rest."

This statement comes at a time when many people, widely known as 'birthers,' are questioning the birthplace of our current President. Though the 'short-form' birth certificate of Mr. Obama has been released, it has not quelled beliefs that he was born out of the United States, which would make him ineligible to be President.

"In reality, the short-form birth certificate should be enough," the spokesperson continued. "I mean, not even everyone knows where they have their original certificate. The President is no different."

According to reports in local newspapers, however, a fire was never reported at the President's residence in the entirety of 1972. "The fire was small. They never reported it because it didn't endanger the house."

It is yet to be seen if this new evidence will end questions over the President's place of birth. The President could not be reached for comment.

Proof Surfaces of Obama Being Born Off US Soil

Washington, D.C.- In a shocking turn of events, photos have surfaced of Barack Obama being born on a cruise ship traveling towards Hawaii in 1961.

“I was shocked and pleased by my discovery,” said Joseph Stenter, an under-cover government agent. “I went through an old box of photos in President Obama’s attic in his new house. The box was marked “destroy,” so I thought that it must be pretty interesting.”

Upon opening the box, Stenter found a copy of a birth certificate with the name “Barack Hussein Obama” written in ink. “On top of the certificate, the location was marked “Family Cruise Ship 57, International Waters.” I was surprised by what I had found,” Stenter continued.

News reached Washington, D.C. at approximately 3 p.m. this afternoon. “President Obama categorically denies these unfounded and false accusations,” an Obama spokesperson stated. “The cruise ship in question had arrived at Hawaii before he was born.”

“The quick dismissal of the evidence found is expected,” said Jessica Sap, a spokesperson for the government. “Would you expect him to come out and say Stenter was right? What Joseph found is revolutionary.”

“Whoever was taking the photos really enjoyed seagulls, apparently,” said Stenter about the photos. “A lot of the pictures were out of focus. I also found a lot that showed that finger prints were on the lens.”
