If You Want Change, Run for Office

With all of the talk about the election and the expected and necessary griping, it seems like a lot of people have a lot of complaining to do, but are not able to apply it. Conservatives are upset because they feel that moderates are taking over the Republican party, and the opposite is true, too. Many Republicans' losses were accredited to backing the bailout.

So, all of this in mind, how do Republicans get back on track? Simple... we build ourselves up. In 1980 and 1994 for the Republicans and 2006 for the Dems, the party would get new faces and ran them for office.

This in mind, and knowing that people do a lot of griping, why not you run for office. Try something like a town or city councilman or even try for a county board member. I was able to win an election at the tender age of 20. I was able to run and fund my own campaign (although in my political history, I have taken such flagrant gifts such as one penny and a piece of strawberry-rhubarb pie). If you have something to say, don't just call talk radio, go out and tell the neighbors. Get a petition to run and do it. Become involved. Work your way up, and you may be a future Congressman.

Just do what I did: promise honesty and effort. It's more than some people in Washington can deliver.
