New Moon Box Office Sales

Why is anyone searching the internet for something like this? Who knows, but here's the answer:

From AC:

New Moon box office totals are already extremely impressive. Those first New Moon box office totals come from ticket pre-sales for the opening weekend of the film, and the sheer volume of tickets being sold for the first showings are absolutely amazing. It really seems like New Moon could turn a profit on its premiere weekend, just from the first box office totals. That's good news for the producers and distributors of the film, as well as all of the theaters that are looking for a nice bump in ticket sales as we head into the holiday season.

Tickets for The Twilight Saga: New Moon have been on sale for a little over a month now, as they tried to make them available very early on for fans. This has included many additional showings being added to Thursday at midnight to cater to all of the Twilight fans that want to be first in line to see the movie. Early sell-outs of those midnight showings have caused many theaters to offer it on several screens now, trying to make sure that they can meet the demand for anyone that wants to buy a ticket. It's a good business decision to have that many screens showing the film, because it means more people are going to be hitting the concession stands to enjoy some treats.

There are a couple of sites that are measuring how many Twilight sell-outs have happened so far, with Fandango and MovieTickets.com being the most recognizable names. Both web sites are stating that New Moon has already broken the record for sell-outs before a movie is even released. It's almost like this is a Broadway show, where opening night is going to be the place to be all around the country. This morning one of the statistics coming from MovieTickets.com is that The Twilight Saga: New Moon has already sold out over 2,150 screens already. Those numbers keep increasing as well, and could get even larger by the time New Moon makes it to full release.
