According to the poll numbers released today (shown above), Mike Huckabee is the weakest of three potential Republican candidates against Barack Obama, while Sarah Palin is the middle of the road, and Mitt Romney is in a dead tie with Obama as of now. Huckabee received just 41% support, while Palin achieved 43% support, and Romney was able to clinch 44% support.
With three years to the 2012 Presidential election these results are just predictions, however, it appears we will have a good shot at defeating Obama, and it appears Palin is becoming stronger in the polls, while Huckabee is becoming weaker. Then again, this is just one poll.
The poll also examined what would occur if Lou Dobbs was to enter the 2012 Presidential election as a Independent candidate, the news is not good for perspective Republican candidates.
2012 Presidential race
Mitt Romney (R) - 34%
Barack Obama (D) - 42%
Lou Dobbs (I) - 14%
Not sure (11%)
Mike Huckabee (R) - 36%
Barack Obama (D) - 42%
Lou Dobbs (I) - 12%
Not sure - 10%
Sarah Palin (R) - 37%
Barack Obama (D) - 44%
Lou Dobbs (I) - 12%
Not sure - 7%
Notice, Sarah Palin is the strongest of the three GOP candidates if Lou Dobbs was to challenge Obama as an Independent candidate, however, the margin is smaller when Mike Huckabee is added into the equation, and it appears Romney would lose the most support if Dobbs was to run as a Independent.
Then again, I personally believe as stated earlier today, that if Lou Dobbs is going to run for the Oval office, he will do so as a Republican, because he knows as well as most political strategists, that running as a Republican would be his best option in regards to running for the highest office in the land.

Well, sounds like to me then, the best ticket would be Romney/Palin.
I'm starting to come to the point where I'm going to support the one Republican for the nomination in 2012 based on one single criteria: Whoever polls best against Obama.
That would be an interesting tactic, because these polls are going to change on a regular basis, and we will not who the official candidates will be for another 14-15 months....Damn, it feels like the last campaign just ended.
Huckabee took the wind out of Romney's sails. However, it's still way too early and the eventual Republican candidate might not even be in the public eye yet.
That I will agree with. Let us remember Obama was not on the radar screen to after Iowa, could a Republican such as Obama pop up in the middle of Iowa and steal the show? Perhaps, perhaps not.
