President Barack Obama has relieved General Stanley McChrystal, saying that the general did not meet the "standards" of the post. McChrystal did not meet his "code of conduct," according to the President.
This controversy has arisen after a Rolling Stone article was leaked to the press in which General McChrystal criticized the President and Vice President. McChrystal was formerly the head of troops in Afghanistan.
The President also stated that diversions, alluding to McChrystal, should not side-track the United States' wars. However, President Obama thanked McChrystal for contributions in Afghanistan.
General David Petraeus has been nominated by the President to take McChrystal's place.
