Mike Huckabee wins Christian Conservative straw poll.

Let the 2012 Presidential primary season begin! It might be near 30 months until the first vote is cast in the Republican nomination process, however, straw polls will be conducted, Republican strategists will comment, and I will of course, blog to my fingers are a clawed into one position of constant repetition of the key board about who I think should be the Republican nominee.

Enough about me, at the Values Voter Summit in Washington D.C., one of the largest events of Christian Conservatives gathering in the Nation, held a straw poll to gauge what the feelings of the 1,800 attendees of the events we're thinking in terms of the upcoming GOP primary season in 2012.

Out of 597 votes in to the straw poll, here are the results.
Mike Huckabee - 170 votes
Mitt Romney - 74 votes
Tim Pawlently - 73 votes
Sarah Palin - 72 votes
Mike Pence - 71 votes
Newt Gingrich - 40 votes
Bobby Jindal - 28 votes
Rick Santorum - 15 votes
Ron Paul - 13 votes
Undecided - 31 votes
10 votes for someone other then who was on the poll.

Among Social Conservatives, this is excellent news for Governor Huckabee (who I supported during the GOP primary season last election), however, I see the potential for the Republican party to once again be split into multiple fractions of voters.......such as Fiscal Conservatives for Romney, Social Conservatives for Huckabee, and National Security Conservatives for Newt Gingrich.

Hopefully, Republicans can come together for the 2012 primary process, behind one strong Conservative Republican option for President, hopefully that will be Senator Jim DeMint, and I was disappointed that they did not include DeMint on the straw poll, he is a rising political star within the Republican party & the United States Senate.
