"My first political contribution".

Here's a great place to start: a conservative candidate in New York needs our help. Doug Hoffman is fighting a liberal Republican and a moderate Democrat to represent New York's 23rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives (an open seat). I live over 1,100 miles from his neck of the woods, but today, I sent Hoffman a small contribution.

This race is critically important because Hoffman's conservative New York district has been abandoned by out-of-touch GOP elites who have been dumping truckloads of money on the liberal Republican candidate.

Tea party activists have risen to the occasion and are fighting for Doug Hoffman, a candidate whose values are in sync with the district.

Hoffman jumped into the race to fill the conservative void after he was passed over by the local Republican power brokers. He joined the Conservative Party, which is well established and influential in New York. Hoffman is a no-frills candidate, but he's strong and he's surging in the polls.

As the only congressional election this fall, this race will have special significance as a political barometer. Hoffman's win would send an important message to the GOP establishment: "Conservatives are in control now, 2010 belongs to us."

Doug Hoffmans campaign is not just a campaign to reclaim the Conservative roots in the Republican party, it is a campaign to reclaim America, as average everyday Americans are becoming involved in a political election like none other.
