Obama Approval Hits New Low

According to a new Quinnipiac poll just out today, the President's approval rating has fallen to a new low. According to the polling his approval rating stands at:

44% Approve
48% Disapprove

And the Real Clear Politics average has a similar, but more positive story (skewed by faulty polling):

46.9% Approve
46.8% Disapprove

Fox has him down to 43% while ABC, well-known for its poor polling, places him at 50%.

There's even more bad news in the Quinnipiac poll. Apparently, only 36% of voters would back the President against a generic Republican-- and 39% would vote for the GOP.

Obama's approval among independents is also in the pit:

38% Approve
52% Disapprove

Furthermore, according to the poll, the GOP has a 5% advantage in the polling for the 2010 races. This spells even more trouble for the Dems this fall.
