Bengals Wide Receiver Chris Henry was involved in a freak accident, which involved the Cincinnati star falling out of the back of a pick up, driven by his fiancee.
Currently, Henry is fighting for survival and is on life support in a hospital.
Cincinnati Bengals star receiver Chris Henry on Wednesday was involved in a serious accident in which he has sustained life-threatening injuries, a statement said.
In a report by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Henry was found suffering from “life-threatening injuries…”
A spokesman for the hospital declined to confirm that Henry was indeed a patient, citing privacy concerns, the statement said. “The accident stems from an argument with his fiancée Loleini Tonga,” it added.
When contacted by phone by the writer, a representative from the Carolinas Medical Centre said "I don't have any information at this time. He's not in our system."
FoxSports.com reported late Wednesday that Henry was on life support and that his condition was "dire."
Police spokesman Robert Fey said officers were stationed outside Henry’s hospital room. They added that the accident began with Henry and Tonga arguing in their home, Henry then jumped into the back of a pickup truck and fell off as Tonga drove off.
Tonga and Henry were to marry in March.
“No comment from the fiancée nor were any charges filed up until this report.”
