McCain Defeats Hayworth

Republican Incumbent John McCain has defeated challengers J.D. Hayworth and Jim Deakin in Arizona's Senatorial primary.    He is currently receiving nearly 60% of the vote to Hayworth's 30%.

The race had received much scrutiny, with Mr. Hayworth rising quickly in the polls earlier this year.  Mr. Hayworth challenged Mr. McCain's conservative credentials and rose within striking distance of the long-term Senator.  Making the race even more interesting is that Senator McCain was also the Republican candidate for President in 2008, in which he lost to then-Senator Barack Obama.

Senator McCain has spent over $20 Million on the primary alone, setting a record in Arizona.  In the meantime, Mr. Hayworth was using attack ads to paint McCain as a liberal-sympathizer and liar.  Hayworth particularly bashed McCain on immigration, saying that McCain had changed his stances several times for political reasons.

As time went on, Mr. Hayworth began falling in the polls with McCain rising once again.

I hate them both. If there's a God, the Democrats will sweep the AZ and national elections.
