Crap: Christopher Hitchens Has Cancer
One of the most brilliant political minds on the planet has esophageal cancer. Christopher Hitchens, a genius in wit and foreign policy, had been cancelling engagements for unknown reasons. The reason, unfortunately, could not have been worse. This sucks.

This blows so bad.
The truth is this is an devastating diagnosis. Cure rates are unheard of and mortality over 5 years is quite high. Symptoms tend to be very difficult to manage. After surgery, the esophagus is gone. There is a high rate of nausea/vomitting. Feeding tubes are common. I wish him Gods Speed, but would recommend he consider Palliative Care Medicine as symptoms will be nearly unbearable.
