Different Obama School Speech Draft Discusses Health Care Debate, Slams Those that Would 'Take Away Doctors'

WASHINGTON- After weeks of speculation, President Obama is set to deliver a major address to students across the country. The speech, which is to be broadcast live in almost all American classrooms, extols hard work and staying in school. The President also calls on the students to help create a better planet.

The text of the planned speech was released on the White House website on Sunday, simply entitled as "Prepared Remarks." Excerpts of the speech include the promotion of good study skills, as with British author JK Rowling: "Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who’ve had the most failures. JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was rejected twelve times before it was finally published."

However, controversy has stirred over another draft of the President's speech, released on the White House website Sunday night. This draft was only visible on the site for approximately thirty minutes, but was abruptly taken down.

According to sources which viewed the document, including Senate Minority Leader John Boehner, the speech included certain 'unacceptable' portions.

Included in this alternate draft was virtually the same content as the currently released copy. Instead, several paragraphs were also included.

One of these included a sentence in which Obama stated that, "... many people support you [the students] succeeding in a healthy life. But worse, many people want to take away your doctors and tell your mother and father that they can't visit the hospital if they are sick."

Another sentence removed from the other draft spoke about the benefits of sharing.

"It's our responsibility to share with those who don't have things like we do. We must share with our common friends in all countries. We must spread this joy to everyone."

Also controversial was the plans for some Philadelphia and Chicago schools to allow members of ACORN to speak to the students afterward. ACORN has been accused of voter registration fraud and is currently subsidized by the federal government.

The speech is slated to be aired tomorrow, followed with a letter writer activity to the President.

Oh, bullshit! Do you really believe that? How much koolaid have you had?I have a quiz for you

Right now rebpulicans are bleeting that Obama had asked the kdis to write him a letter about how they can help him achieve his goals. How quickly they forget!

>"Every time you walk through that classroom door, make it your mission to get a good education. Don't do it just because your parents, or even the President, tells you. Do it for yourselves. Do it for your future. And while you're at it, help a little brother or sister to learn, or maybe even Mom or Dad. Let me know how you're doing. Write me a letter -- and I'm serious about this one -- write me a letter about ways you can help us achieve our goals."

Who said it? Even suggested kids TEACH THEIR PARENTS??

Nope, not Obama. GHWB in an October 1991 televised address to our nation's schoolchildren. http://bushlibrary.tamu.edu/research/public_papers.php?id=3450&year=1991&month=10

UliPele, you didn't read the article, did you?

Yes it did read it. I think it's wacky to pretend there was some other speech or that ACORN was going into school. It's also hypocritical to think it's bad to ask kids to write the president.

Uli,

Why are you siding with these right-wingers instead of with the President?
