Rasmussen Reports released a poll earlier this morning, in which a thousand American citizens were asked a slew of questions about Presidents Day. The questions range from the significance of Presidents Day to who the greatest Founding Father was, among other items involving the annual recognition.
However, one question and several available answers left me baffled, as I continue to question how some Americans do not approve of President Washington, freedom of speech, Capitalism and other American institutions and individuals that have and will continue to shape our nation.
Do you have a very favorable, somewhat favorable, somewhat unfavorable or very unfavorable opinion of George Washington?
54% - Very Favorable.
35% - Somewhat Favorable.
4% - Somewhat Unfavorable.
1% - Very Unfavorable.
6% - Unsure
What in the hell is wrong with 11% of the American public? 5% of American citizens hold an unfavorable opinion of George Washington, the man who led us through the American Revolution, Constitutional Convention and our inaugural years as a Nation.
Have we lost all of our marbles? How in the hell does 5% of the American public dislike President Washington! The single most important man during the American Revolution. I don't understand how some Americans come to their opinions, but it is frightening.
There was a time when some Americans wanted Washington to be a King, but he knew that would be the death of freedom, thus he stepped down for personal reasons, along with a personal desire to set a precedent for all future Presidents. Now we're a Nation where 11% of the public, who have their freedoms because of men like George Washington, are either unsure or dislike the former President.
How does something like this happen? I should be thankful for the 89% of Americans who are sane, but I weep for the heart breaking bloc of Americans who are insane and disrespectful.

The only thing I can figure is that when the saw George the thought they meant Bush. Other than that I'm going with insanity.
